Chapter 73 - Elvens Ruins

The elves are a divided race, not as much as the men but still divided. In the beginning, there was only one race, the Aen Undod, but on the verge of destruction, they left to search for other worlds. Their descendants are the Aen Seidhe and the Aen Elle.

The Aen Seidhe live on the Continent among Men, Dwarves, and Gnomes, while the Aen Elle lives on another world and destroys worlds for their resources. The Aen Seidhe also have a descendant who created a distinct culture and the largest empire on the Continent. The Black Seidhe are the ancestors of the Nilfgaardian Empire.

The Aen Elle and the Aen Seidhe, the descendants of the Aen Undod, have many things in common, but the most important is their knowledge. But while the Seidhe Aen want the ability, they want to live on the Continent first, unlike the Elle Aen, who are hungry for power and knowledge. As a result, they are willing to do anything to gain more control, even destroy worlds.

According to some texts that date back to well before the Conjunction of the Spheres, there is a temple made by the first Aen Seidhe, the first descendants of the Aen Undod. A temple that would seem to house a weapon so powerful that it could destroy the world instantly.

The writings speak of a key included in certain Aen Seidhe, which would be transmitted from generation to generation. And the Aen Elle has become aware of an Aen Seidhe that has a key.

6 Birke 1206

It has been a month since Alice was assassinated by elves, and the League of Assassins confronted the Wild Hunt. The League is following several leads that may lead to the temple of Aen Undod, some of which have proven fruitless, others productive.

Saibus was sent to Etolia, a seaside kingdom south of the Continent, west of Gemmera, and south of Maetch. Etolia is separated from the Kingdom of Niffgaarde by the Alba River, where the Black Seidhe settled and mixed with the settlers to become the Nilfgaardians later.

In the Kingdom of Etolia, traces of ancient elven ruins were found by archaeologists affiliated with the League. The elders then decided to send one of their best assassins to enter and excavate the ruins. To do this, Saibus set sail for the south. The sea journey was very relaxing for Saibus. He rested, admiring the immensity of the sea, looking at the stars, reading the Continent's history...

The crossing to Etolia had few adventures. Saibus just had to kill three mermaids and pass by a giant monster that only showed its teeth, a seven-headed monster stuck on a rock, and a storm. Nothing is imposing for a League assassin.

The ship arrived at one of the ports on the kingdom's coast. Saibus disembarked and paid the ship's captain before leaving the city. He goes to the only League hideout there is in the kingdom.

The hideout is a building outside the capital, Thermorun. The capital is established on the southern tip of the Im Lebar river.

The hideout is a large building made of wood and stone. The refuge is a travel hostel where travelers spend just one night or one meal before leaving. In this way, the hideout is self-sufficient and can collect much information about what is happening on the border of the southern kingdoms.

Saibus, who is in front of the hideout, enters it. The hideout's atmosphere differs from the familiar atmosphere of the travel inns. The atmosphere is usually festive, joyful, noisy, and dancing and tranquil. Of course, being a good hostel, it is well attended, but although there is laughter, music, and dancing, the atmosphere is strangely soothing and calm.

Saibus sits at a table a bit out of the way and watches the troupe of dancers on the stage while waiting for a server. His wait wasn't long because a waitress came to take his order barely two minutes after settling in.

"Hello, sir. What would you like?"

"I would like to have some poultry and lentils with a bottle of Achilles," replied Saibus.

"Right away." the waitress leaves to prepare her customer's order.

She returns quickly with the order and places it in front of Saibus. The latter eats his meal quietly without hurrying. His meal lasts thirty minutes. Ultimately, he pays for the food and the bottle of wine before leaving.

He walks on the road from the capital towards the south towards the kingdom of Nilfgaard. When he reaches a secluded spot, Saibus leans against a tree and casts spells. Once this is done, he takes out the bottle of wine from Achilles and empties it onto the paper. After that, he casts a spell that makes the wine evaporate, leaving behind a letter.

"Saibus, the Council has sent you to meet with us to explore the ruin trails in Etolia. But as you might expect, we cannot join you on this mission because we are currently stuck in Nilfgaard. One of the ruins we explored led us to another ruin in this kingdom. According to our research, the ruin we explored in Etolia and the one we are in are connected and created by the same group of elves, the Aen Undod. Unfortunately, after activating the teleportation formation, the latter got buried. We cannot return to explore the other ruins in Etolia without having to cross all of Nilfgaard. So we have sent this message to warn you and will try to clear the portal formation to return to the ruin we have already explored. The letter comes with a map of the three elven ruins in Etolia. We already explored two, leaving you only the last one to explore.

Good luck, brother.

Maryanne."

Saibus finishes reading the letter and burns it to ash with the Igni sign.

'Well, well, let's go see this ruin solo.' thinks Saibus as he looks at the map Maryanne provided.

According to the map and the research of Maryanne and her team, the elven ruin is below the capital of Etolia, Thermorun.

After memorizing the map, Saibus calls Regiis and gives it to her. Regiis then flies north while Saibus returns to the capital.

The entrance to the ruin under Thermorun is under a wall outside the city where the river flows. Saibus lifts his head, looks at the sun's position, and estimates the time of day. He goes to the hiding place, but instead of settling down, he quietly enters the inn's back door. There he finds himself in a storage room. He looks around but notices nothing; he whispers.

"Vecera Egalao"

Saibus' vision becomes a gray and white hue with red, blue, white, and gold spots. The blue, red, and white spots are behind Saibus, precisely behind the door that Saibus used to enter this room. The blue spots represent the allies of Saibus, the Assassins of the League. The red ones are the enemies of Saibus, so the few armed men who make trouble when Saibus enters the inn are now outside the inn. The white ones are the innocent people, the civilians. Finally, the golden ones, are the people or objects that Saibus is looking for in this case, a small symbol of the League well hidden.

Saibus presses on it, which turns a piece of wall in which he can rush before the wall closes. Saibus' view returns to normal, allowing him to see a large store.

"Hello, young man, what can I do for you?" the shopkeeper questions.

"I am Saibus; I would like special products like dimeritium bombs, Zerikanian fire, Talgar tears, manticore poison, and acid solutions," says Saibus.

"We have everything but manticore poison, but we don't have much. We have three bombs, four fires, and two tears. For the acid, we have a lot. " retorts the shopkeeper.

"I take all the fire, tears, bombs, and five acid solutions. So how much do I owe you?" answers and asks Saibus.

"1490 crowns, sir." says the shopkeeper.

"Here." Saibus gives the money to the shopkeeper, who goes to the back store to get the products. They return a few minutes later with a bag and everything Saibus needs.

Saibus takes the bag and leaves the store and the hiding place. Seeing that it is half past one. Saibus decides to go and explore the ruins without wasting time. He goes to the North of the capital on the river's bank. He observes the horizon with his eagle vision, the vision he gets by incanting Vecera Egalao.

Thanks to this vision, he finds the entrance Maryanne was talking about. There is a small canal that goes under the city. Saibus goes to the canal. According to Maryanne, the entrance is behind one of the walls of the canal entrance.

Once at the canal entrance, Saibus examines the walls to find a draft from behind. He then uses a wind spell to cleanly cut through the wall, enter it, and reposition the wall as it was before consolidating it with earth magic.

Saibus then looks at the entrance to the ruin, a long downward corridor leading deep into the earth.

Saibus then thinks aloud.

"Well, let's explore this ruin."
