Chapter 25 - Babysitting 2

Adrienne told me that her parents informed her about being home alone until late at night because they will be attending a wedding that she ain't invited to. Later the plans changed, it seems that their family friends were also invited, but couldn't attend because of their two years old son. Her parents told her to babysit him in order for them to be able to come.

When I asked her to come at first, she locked at me very shocked. "You want to babysit with me?" I said "Yes, can I help you?" She was uncertain. I know her parents aren't very strict, usually. "I'll help you make the food or keep an eye on the baby as you cook. Then, we could watch a movie together, it will be fun" she seemed to like the idea. "You don't have to stay alone and do it all by yourself, it also means putting the baby in danger. I'll go ask for a leave now."

I seemed to convince her because she said: "Wait I need to come with you." I was really happy, I get to spend time with Adrienne and at her place. It is going to be my first time there, there is even a chance for me to get to see her bedroom, gosh I'm really curious of what it looks like.

I imagined it being somewhat tidy. Since it's Ed, I believe there are still stuff on the ground but the decor of the her room must me very interesting, I hope I get to see it.

Zachary went ahead before Adrienne. He bought some food to feed the kittens, and Adrienne went home to met with her parents along with the parents of the baby she is going to babysit.

"Adrienne, listen carefully. You need to take care of the baby thoughtfully, and keep and eye on him at all times. You understand?"

"Yes, mom." Adrienne answered.

"Adrienne, Mrs. Shelly will tell you about what you have to do, okay?"

"You need to feed the baby this" she pointed at a bowl with baby food, that she had made. "After he had his food would he usually sleep, but you can't let him sleep until about 40-60 minutes later. He will drink his milk and then go to sleep. Unfortunately, that's when he'd usually feel energetic, but you can use stroller to make him sleep, just take a walk with him in it."

Adrienne noted all the important steps of what she had to do, and waved goodbye to them all. All that's left was for Zachary to come.

As she was waiting she thought of what Mrs. Shelly had said about the stroller; "...Will I take a walk with Zachary and a baby in a stroller...?"

After he got the food for the kittens and fed them, he rushed over to Adrienne's place. He couldn't wait to spend time with her.

Lately, school started and their timings began looking very differently, it haven't been matching with each other's schedules, that's including on Saturdays and Sundays when they get a pause. So, this opportunity, to get to spend the evening together, was something the both of them wanted.

He sent her a text and a moment later she responded, "do I need to get anything from the store for the dinner we are making?" he asked her. She told him no they needn't, yet he didn't go directly to her place. Instead, he stopped by the convenience store to bring soemthing. Fove minutes later he came out carrying a bag with him...

After almost reaching her place, he sent her another message: "Can I come in?" Her parent's car was parked outside their house but they could've gone together, in the same car as their family friends, which means they aren't necessary home.

She said yes and he came in through the gate. He knocked at the door, and she came shortly to open it. When she came, she held the baby to one side - Zachary took of his choose and, and stepped inside.

He had only seen the inside from outside the door, by simply catching a glimpse of the corridor and shoe rack. But here he was - inside her house. He looked at shoe rack and placed his shoes next to it.

"Hiya Ed, let me take him from here" he told Adrienne, as he warily took the baby from her hands without her handing him to Zachary. Then, Zachary bent and picked the bag that contained the stuff he had bought with him.

When he handed her the bag and asked her to take a look inside, she said, "I told you that you needn't to get anything, right?"

"Look inside, this is for us to eat with the movie." Indeed, this was his favorite chips along with hers, he even bought soda to drink along with yummies.

Adrienne didn't have any chips at home since she was with him the day they were supposed to go shopping, therefore she didn't buy any when her mom was shopping. Did he figure it or simply bought some?

"I troubled you" she said, blushing. She love chips, especially with movies in late nights.

"What? Are you being shy now" he said in a teasing manner as he stopped her hand from opening the chips. "Not now let's make dinner first - it's already 14.30 pm."

She was not hungry, "are you hungry?" she asked him. It was very early to eat when they had lunch no too long ago.

He looked at her dumbly, "I'm not hungry, stupid. You know better than this, if we make dinner now we will be done in over an hour..."

"Ohh, I get what you mean" she said and laughed. Sure enough, she should have thought of that. By making dinner it will be ready by dinnertime, and it will take longer since he is the one cooking. "What should we make?"

"Honey, remind me to thank Adrienne when we get back home. We should reward her with something" she told her husband.

"Reward her?"

"Yes, in such a short notice we asked something that's too much of her. Including skipping school. She owe us at least a thanks."

"You are right wife. But she might be asleep by the time we come back, we shall leave it to tomorrow."

"I think not. She needs to take care of the baby, for that she will probably stay awake." she told him.

"Yeah. Do you have anything in mind, any idea of how to make it up for her, perhaps?"

"No, let's see here..." She thought to herself for a second and replied, "What do you think of watching one of those movies she liked or should we go somewhere instead of that?" she asked him.

"You know, how about we go to the cinema this weekend? Remember this movie she kept nagging about? We could watch it."

"Yes! That's a nice suggestion. Let's go with your idea, it sounds good."

"There you are" Mrs. Shelly said.

"Yeah" she answered.

"By the way, thank your daughter for us, she really made us a big favor. My little sister suddenly cancelled our time with her because of an important matter. If not for her I wouldn't have come, I mean, I wouldn't leave the baby alone so, thank you."

"Yeah... don't worry about it. We actually planned to surprise her with cinema tickets, she most likely will like it."

"Hold on a second, I've got cinema tickets for three people, are you planning to go with the three of you?" she asked her her.

"Yeah... that was out plan."

"We got the tickets when someone congratulated us for our baby, I'll gladly give it to you, and you daughter saved us some big time..."

To be continued...
