"Do you think papa and mama are alright?" Synthea asked me.
"I.. I'm not.. I don't know.. Dad's really strong but even I don't know who or what he fought. Mom should've won but now she's missing. By the looks of it, both fights were staged. But who would do such a thing?"
"Don't worry young masters. The master is the strongest Lux in all of history, I'm sure he's fine. As for the mistress, she was the champion of one of the Protectors. Their strength is nothing to scoff at."
"I'm sure they're just recovering from battle somewhere or maybe they just didn't want to worry the young masters. All in all, the only thing we can do is to wait patiently for them to return." said Dania.
I knew Dania was right. We all knew she was right. But the pain of losing family even if just for a while, is just too much to handle. Especially for kids like them. I mean, us. I'm technically not a kid but who cares.
"So what do we do now? Our house is gone, our parents are... missing and we don't really have any relatives that I know of. Heck, where are we gonna live?" Lisa complained, sniffling.
"I may have the solution young masters. The mistress has entrusted me with a portion of wealth and a letter for young mistress Synthea. As I recall the mistress has managed to enlist the young masters to the nearby academy, the Knoll Academy." Dania said while handing the letter to Synthea.
Wow, mom's amazing. She even prepared for something to happen incase something happened to her or dad. Looks like our family isn't just some backwater noble household to have connections with academies.
"Can we see too Synthea?" Freya pleaded, receiving a nod from her.
"Dear Synthea, if you're reading this then it means that papa and I can't get to you or we're both facing an unparalleled enemy. I'm writing this letter to you because you're the eldest and the most responsible out of all my babies. Also, as the heir of the Lux household you need to keep your head cool and stay collected and take care of your brother and sisters."
"I've prepared the details needed for you and your siblings to enlist into the Knoll Academy. Dania will guide and protect you in my stead. No words can picture just how much I love you. I pray that this is not the last time. For the mean time, I love you my child.. sniff, sniff waaaaa! ."
I'm actually surprised she didn't break down earlier. I guess that being the eldest really does make you a lot more mature and strong. Nevertheless even I couldn't hold my tears from gushing down. A sense of lost was weighing down my chest. Everything seemed to be meaningless.
I knew that Freya and Lisa have it even harder, being the ones that mom spoiled the most. Me? I'm not really the favorite I'm just the only boy in the family. Who wouldn't want to spoil their only son?
"First, let's get a place to rest. I hate to disturb you, but could the young master do the honors of getting us out of here? In the time that we are away, I shall send some people to investigate the crime scene. Set the coordinates to town Adel please. Ah! And try to teleport us a bit further from the gate. We don't want any attention." Dania asked while the others were still busy bawling their eyes out.
I guess even I have to suck it up and grow up. I AM the only man left in the Lux Household. I must help Synthea to the best of my abilities. Suddenly said person got up from her crouching position and came near me.
Clasping my shoulders she said "Please Mal. At the very least, I don't want endanger both Freya and Lisa."
It hasn't even been a day yet and their treating me like a shuttle bus. I guess I'll have to teach the spell to them before I can sit back and relax.
Reluctantly but also feeling responsible, I set the coordinates as Dania requested. I set it to a few hundred meters from the gate. I remember playing around that place when I went together with mom and dad last year. Lush vegetation surrounding a vast clearing, flowers of all kinds and small animals scuttering around the site.
I never thought I would go without them.
As though responding to my feelings, it started to pour.
