Akane's POV
I glanced at what's in front of me. My hands holding the armor that i just finished making. The armor shines as the sun hits it. I sighed as i gripped it hard. Memories flashing back to me. "Akane! Run!" I shook my head as the memories of my wife screaming her last words to me.
I shivered at the memories. I miss her. I miss you Lea. I wish you could see our daughter grow up to be the woman she is now. I staggered a bit by the longing and wanting to see Lea again. I sigh.
As if on cue, my daughter, Akalea, presents herself in front of me wearing her armor as her hair is up in a ponytail. Her smile was just as her mother's were. There were bits of my wife in her. Though i must say she got my eyes, a bit of my height and lean built figure.
She would look like a warrior in anyone's eyes but to me she's still our baby girl. I smiled weakly and turned to hug her. "Father! Its time to start training! I need to improve more." Her muffled words voiced out against my chest. I'm at least 6'2 while she's 5'8. "I know, Aka. I'll be there shortly. Do some warm ups while you're at it." I let go of her and let her scurry off towards the back of our home.
I had already told Akalea of who and what she is and that was when she was 5. A daughter of a Royal. That I'm the king's younger paternal brother. That she can be strong as we are or may be yet even more stronger than us when she grows up. That in this world, people have powers and monsters lurking everywhere . That she can be a warrior or a knight. I was shocked to even see and discover that she was already playing with her powers in the age of 5. I looked at her with pride back then till now.
In Earth, you can only have minimum of 1 power and the maximum would be 3 or 4 or but the worst case is none at all. BUT there are rare cases where one can have 5 or more. In this world where power and strength will be the deciding factor for you to be respected and feared to which I don't agree with. There's a lot of evil in this world. I could only protect and train Akalea.
I told her everything and she took it calmly. She was happy and I mean too happy. "No wonder i have these cool thingies!" I smile at the memory as i take in my surroundings.
Our home was in the middle of a forest where i built a barrier around so nothing can detect and see us here. We've been hiding ever since i left Abernathy 20 years ago.
Abernathy is a kingdom where I am the King's younger brother, his paternal twin. We dont look alike but we have the same eyes and hair. I sigh.
Abernathy is a kingdom where Warriors, Knights, Assassins and Healers are shaped into the best of the best to protect, to serve, and to kill. I was always by my brother's side and always had his back as he did for me. We were inseparable and trained together to become what we are to become. We were the strongest and the most trusted. But the time one of us had to be crowned king, came. I left the kingdom.
When I left Abernathy, I came across a small town and stayed there for a bit. I met Lea, my beloved. She passed away a few days after Akalea was born. I balled my fists to which they turned white. A demon had killed her. My Lea! I had slain the demon but could not save her. I was too late. She even gave me a warm smile before life was taken away from her.
I snapped out of my dazed situation and headed outside where Akalea is waiting for me. I began to wear my armor and made a sword out of fire. I taught Akalea everything I know and taught her how to protect herself. Once I saw that Akalea was ready and stood in front of me, her sword bearing it's sharp edges at me, I smiled weakly.
I look at Akalea as I grew weaker. I haven't told Akalea that if I'm away from my brother for too long we, both, will grow weak and eventually... die.
————-Akalea's POV————-
I'm Akalea Knight. An eighteen year old girl who is the daughter of Akane Abernathy, the younger brother of the king of Abernathy, and Lea Knight, a norm, is what my father had told me. I could say I have like a lot of powers. Though I don't know why I have a lot though. I can only use 10 different types of powers each day. No more than that but father called me a miracle.
Now, back to the present.....
I did my warm ups, I stretched and I was warming up my powers. I did some cardio and halted to a stop when father came out of the house with his sword and armor. I smiled to my father. I made my sword out of fire as he did, too. I am ready to go at it with my father, but I sense something was off. I shrugged it off not minding it.
3.....2.....1..... GO!
We both charge towards each other as our swords clanked as we fought, looking for an opening to beat him. As I was going to make my move, my body was sent flying through the air but with my powers, I teleport behind father. My sword against his throat. "I win!" Father laughed and as I was about to take my sword away when I heard a voice behind me.
"Tsk tsk. No, I win." A sharp object was nudged on my back. Damnit! It was his clone that was in front of me. I thought i had it. I have to think fast. The thought of being defeated isn't what i was brought up to be.
I have to win. I need to win. I want to win. Never give up.
I turned fast enough and smashed my father's sword with my own. Blows after blows, hits after hits, sweat falling down our faces and our bodies yet not one of us signaled defeat. Until the most shocking thing happened. My father collapsed. I gasped and ran to my father for dear life. I lifted his head to lay on my lap and shook his shoulders a bit.
"Father! Are you okay?" His eyes open and pain was evident. "I'm fine, Aka. I'm just...tired." Pain was clearly evident in his voice but his words says otherwise. I began to worry as I helped him get up. I got him in the house, in his room and laid him down on his bed. "I'll go get something from the market, okay? I'll buy your favorite sweets, too! So stay here and rest."
I smiled and pat his chest to reassure him that I'll be fine and safe. He nods his head and I left his room. I grab my wallet with my money and changed my purple-ish blue eyes to blue-ish gray. I look at the mirror and checked my appearance. Oh shit. I forgot about the armor. I took it off and pat my clothes.
I checked again, sealed most of my powers and scent and now, I look okay. I then teleport from our home to a dark corner. The dark corner leads to the town so I had to move now before something lurking would come out from here. I speed walked my way and checked my surroundings.
A lot of people walking around. I quickly start to blend in the crowd, making my way to the market. As I was getting in the market, I was bumped by a guy. It was so hard I took a few steps back. "Excuse you, you prick!" I say with gritted teeth. I began walking again and I reached my pocket for my wallet. My eyes grew wide. Its gone. Fuck! I tried to locate the thief. I found him a few meters away from me.
I sprint towards him, skillfully sliding through people and trying to avoid hitting someone. The thief looked back and he saw me running.
He, too, ran. The people around us stopped a bit to take a look at us, who're running. I ignored them and sprinted even faster. The thief leads me to a deserted place. Broken down buildings and houses. Gives me the creeps. I finally caught up to him grabbing his shirt and yanking him down.
"Mind to give me back my wallet, thief?" I look at him with loathing eyes. If looks could kill, he would have died earlier. He just smirked and looks at me with those brown eyes of hi- wait. His brown eyes turned red. As his body, or 'its' body, began morphing into this big disgusting demon. Oh shit. A fucking demon is right in front of me.
My thoughts were telling me those loud and clear. I took a few steps back. It also took a few steps forward at the same time. The demon in front of me roared which made me cover my ears. My eyes were closed and I felt the sensations. A lot of them. I opened my eyes and one by one, demons emerged from in between the buildings and houses.
Hm, maybe I could use them as battle training.
I smiled wickedly but as I was going to use my powers, two shadows emerged from above the building behind me. "It seems like a damsel in distress, brother?" The blonde woman on the left said to the blue haired man on the right. "It seems so, sister." They then jumped down from the broken down building and landed on their feet.
My jaw went down to the floor by how they looked. They were wearing armor and have weapons that arent even from this town.
Are they from The Abernathy Kingdom? I need to warn father about this!
I was about to run to an alley but I was knocked to the side and grazed the floor. I groaned from the pain and saw a gash on my arm. I groaned once more from the pain. I looked up and saw the nasty demon from before. Showing me a lopsided grin. I shivered. I tried to stand up but was gently pushed down by the blonde woman.
"Stay down and stay low. Let us handle this." The lady gave me a reassuring smile which I returned with half of a smile half laughing nervously. "Lets do this, Nathan." The lady said to her brother and looked straight to all the demons while smiling. "Lets, Natalie." The man agreed.
Then the battle began as they pounce on the demons. Sliced, punched, knocked on the ground did the demons fall defeated. One by one demons died by their hands. And to think I would've had fun if I joined them. I thought as they showed that they were having fun killing those awful things called demons.
As I got up, my wound healing slowly so they wont suspect anything. I knew that I also sealed most of my powers earlier so they wont be suspicious of me. I grabbed a hold of my injured arm and backed away slowly. Trying to look for an escape. I went rigid.
I stopped what I was doing when I felt a gnarly sensation behind me. I looked behind to see a demon. Its mouth open wide as its fangs pointed at me. It had moved and tried to strike at me but I jumped to my side avoiding its strike.
Taking the chance to teleport it above the man's sword. Its body sliding through it. The man shrieked in shock that the demon suddenly appeared and slid itself unto his sword. The demon died just like that.
The man threw the demon away like it didnt weigh a ton. I took a step back cautiously while looking at them. Their backs facing me and i took the opportunity to run. Without a second later, i was pulled back.
"Woah there, miss." The man, the one who pulled me back, said. "I have to go." I said mimicking a scared girl. My body shaking, my head down, and my lips quivering. "We need to take care of that wound first. We dont want that to get infected now, do we?" The lady said with curiosity.
I look up for a split second only to see a little blue ball of light emerging from the man's palm on to my arm. Healing my wound. I look back down and once the healing was done, I immediately yank my arm. "Thank you for saving me. I must go." I say with a hint of urgency which I hope they can notice.
Before I could walk away and go home, I read their minds. "She clearly isn't normal." The man's thought came out to me. "Interesting." The lady thought to herself. I left, not looking back. Once I felt that they don't see me anymore, I ran as fast as I could to somewhere dark.
I teleport home and what I saw made me mad. Father was on the floor with a knight on top of him. Restricting him from 'moving'.
Like that would work.
I know for sure that father can beat the knight but when I looked at his eyes. They were pained and ill-like. I made a move and kicked the knight away from father.
The knight flew across the room as I ran to father, holding him up. "Are you okay?" I asked, worried that he might not be. "I'm fine, Aka." He told me with a pained smile. No you're not. My eyes squinted with so much worry that I didn't notice there's another knight. The other knight pulled the knight, that was on the floor, up and turned to us.
"What's your business here?" I asked. My father held my hand and gave it a squeeze. I took that as an assuring gesture. "We came here for the king's brother, hence that man right there, and bring him back." One of the knight answered and I swear I heard this voice from somewhere. The two knights took off their shiny helmet kind of thing and I looked at them, shocked.
They were the two knights from earlier. "I knew you weren't normal." The man looked at me like he just figured me out and grinned. "Leave, the both of you, now. Never speak to anyone about this. Now, go." Father said that made both of the knights look at him with shock. "We can't. We got orde-" The man didnt finish his sentence as father flicks his wrist and both of the knights vanished.
"Aka. We need to leave." Father faced me and held my shoulder tightly. I knew this day would come. "Uncle, they're coming." The knights from before, manifested once again in front of us as the man said those words like its a warning. WAIT! Hold up. Did the man just call my father 'uncle'? Before we could even apprehend what they said, a lot of knights came bursting through our front door.
Heavily armed and ready to fight. "The King ordered us to take you back. Willingly or by force." A very tall and bulky knight said to father. "Who are you to force me?" Father's voice boomed. All of the knights cowered in fear of father except the two Knights behind us. "I'm sorry, sir Akane." The tall knight then dashed towards us as did the other knights.
"Don't let them know you're my daughter. Don't show them your powers unless you have to. If they ask, tell them that I'm your master and you're my servant. Protect yourself and be safe, Aka. I love you."
Those were the last words father told me in my head before we all vanished.
