THE GUY WHO KILLED MY BOYFRIEND
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Dylan's POV
It is my first time having a sweet dance with somebody else. I have no plans of dancing with Jamila but the turn of events forced me to do it.
I just saw one of the guys from Shaina's group eyeing Jamila. The moment that guy walked closer to her, I immediately grabbed her hand and forced her to dance with me.
Admitting that the feeling I felt during the whole time we are dancing can't be explained by anyone neither me. My body just commanded my entire being to hug her tight when the last song got ended.
I immediately let her go when I felt the tension between the two of us and the people around us.
The surrounding was filled with whispers. And so I have nothing to explain.
"W-what was that?" she asked.
"Are you numb? A hug maybe." I sarcastically answered. Again, I have nothing to explain. Blame my body instead. It is all his fault.
"But why Dylan?"
"Just for you to return my bag." I just said as an excuse. I know she is confused right now and so was I.
"I hate you, Dylan!"
I smirked. Yes, that's given. She started to walk away from me. Truth is, I wanted to ask if she will be fetched by her brothers. Look, I am not worried about her, it is just that, I felt something strange.
I secretly followed her. She suddenly stopped. She's holding her phone and looks like she is dialing someone. I looked at the surrounding, only a few students were left by this time. Chelsea and Roxette left as well together with their escorts.
Wait, I am Jamila's escort tonight, should I also need to drive her home?
She kicked the bench in front of her where she is currently standing. She looked so frustrated. Maybe she can't able to dial one of her brothers, hypothetically speaking.
She continued walking. Is she planning to go home alone?
I smirked then continued following her.
Her steps are now becoming bigger. Looks like she is in a hurry.
I created big steps as well but extra careful not to get caught by her.
She was about to turn left when a familiar group of male students blocked her way. They are all holding a wooden stick.
I immediately showed up in front of her.
She can't win over these idiots.
"What are you planning?" I asked this group of men. Nearly they were ten in the count.
"It has not something to do with you Dylan, so you better leave." the guy in blue answered.
I smirked.
"Man versus man. This little girl has no fight with you."
"Stop playing like a hero Dylan."
"I didn't say any."
I held Jamila's hand. She is not saying anything. By looking through her eyes, she looked so shocked and afraid at the same time.
What's with these guys? As much as I know, they are all part of a fraternity that fights with evil guys, girls are exempted on their list. But why Jamila?
"Leave her to us Dylan, before we changed our mind and include you on our target." the one who answered looks like their leader.
"Go ahead."
I hurriedly pulled Jamila and brought her to a safer spot.
"Stay here. Look for a chance to run away from this place. I will take care of everything."
I quickly went back to the fight. Kicks, punches, and beating were all I faced just to protect the girl whom I didn't know if she has a part in my life. Still puzzled in a way, but I know I have to ensure her safety. I have to ensure her life. Because I can't afford to lose another life.
One versus many. Fighting is never a new thing in me but this time, it is different. I have a reason why I am fighting.
Dayne Jamila's POV
I am shivering because of what I see. They are working in unity just to beat up Dylan and I am here in a safe corner, can not do anything just to help him.
The pain and the fear I felt the moment my boyfriend died are all coming back.
I closed my eyes for a while. I should not have been staying here. I have to help Dylan. In the first place, he is in trouble because of me.
I immediately looked for something I can use as a weapon. In a not so far away, there I found a piece of wood that I can use to beat them up.
While they are all busy fighting, I ran in the middle and took all my strength to beat the enemy. I heard Dylan shout for my name but I am sorry, I have to do this.
One by one, they stumbled down and fall.
Good thing, there's no one holding a gun. If that happened, surely we will lose.
I can see that Dylan is gaining his strength, so together we fight for the remaining opponent.
Dylan is catching his breath while taking a look at our surroundings. We made it! We have won against them.
He was about to walk closer to me but someone from our opponent suddenly stood up and beat him up. He was hit in his head.
The only thing I knew is that I shout his name but seems like it is now too late.
The next thing that happened is we are at the hospital. Waiting for an update regarding Dylan's condition.
Time check: two seventeen in the morning.
"Jamila...." Chelsea called my name as she sat beside me. She is now tapping my shoulder.
"It's all my fault, Chelsea." I felt so guilty about what happened. What if Dylan will not survive? I know I planned for an act of revenge towards Dylan before, but now, I don't know. I don't want this to happen. Not anymore. He can't die! I have to return first his bag before he can pass away!
"Stop blaming yourself, Jamila. Dylan is a fighter. Believe in him, okay?"
I know Chelsea is just trying to calm me. But the current situation disagrees with her.
"By the way, I just called CJ. I said you slept in our house. I just made an excuse so don't worry about them. They will not search for you."
"Thank you." Then I choose to remain silent again. There are a lot of things running through my mind and my head hurts! My whole being seemed like wandering somewhere else not even realizing that my phone was already ringing.
I came to check it. Chelsea said she already made an excuse to my brothers so who would have called me anyway?
An unknown number. I answered the call.
"Who is this?" I asked.
"Good morning," he answered on the other line. I heard his voice before but I am not sure about it.
"Who are you? Stop playing mind games by this time." I said.
"It's Cedric."
"W-What!?! How did you get my number?"
"Relax Jamila. That's not important now. I just called to ask you something. Remember what I told you before? About Shaina. Do you now believe me?"
I remained speechless. I can't able to speak. So this is all Shaina's plan?
"By the way, how's Dylan?" Cedric asked.
"Still unconscious."
"Hope everything will be okay. I will call again or text you to ask for an update."
I was about to speak but Cedric already ended the call.
Really? About Cedric and I, are we now close?
Oh well! I stood up and walk back and forth. Until now, the doctor is not coming back to tell about Dylan's latest condition.
I sat again and merely ask for one thing. Good news, please.
A few minutes later, finally, the doctor showed up to tell us that Dylan is now miraculously stabled and we can now take a look at him.
I was about to shout 'yes' but I just realized that we are currently at the hospital.
I hurriedly ran towards his room. He is now sleeping. I felt pity by seeing his face, looks like he has undergone a tough battle.
I sat beside him. I held his hand. Almost lifeless, but still warm.
Dylan, I promise to treat you a little bit nicer this time.
I leaned my head on his bed.
I was about to close my eyes when he slowly moved his hand.
I looked at his face. He is now awake!
"Dylaaaaaaaaan!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I can't help but shout. Good thing, I was just the only one who is with him by this time.
"What do you want to eat? What do you want to drink? I will buy it for you. Just tell me what do you want!"
"A-are you w-with m-me all this t-time?"
I rolled my eyes, oooppps... Dayne Jamila remembers to be nicer.
"Uhm... Yes. So what do you want now? Ahhhh! Wait! I will just order some fo---"
"Stay beside me. All I want is for you to stay beside me." then he held my hand.
"D-Dylan." his grip is becoming tighter.
I can't explain it. Did I just eat butterflies? Because if yes, they are now flying and tickling my tummy!
