Chapter 2 - 1. You Wake Up!

This was before Natalie entered the room where Dimas had been lying for the last 5 years in a coma. The room was cool and filled with silence. Only the sound of breathing and heartbeats that could be heard from the monitor echoed through the room.

In these 5 years, Dimas has shown no signs of waking up from his coma even for a few seconds. However, if you look closely, the man lying on the bed is now experiencing some oddities. The fingers, that were initially drooping weakly, began to move little by little.

The eyeball behind the closed eyelid also moves restlessly. Cold sweat dripped from his temples, his breath getting heavier. In one breath, both eyelids opened wide, with the sound of breathing stopping for a moment.

"Hosh... Hosh..."

Dimas's pupils shrank because they weren't used to the light. He had closed his eyes for too long and had fallen into endless darkness to the point of having trouble adapting to the surrounding light. The first thing that greeted Dimas was a room filled with silence.

Dimas's gaze rolled to observe himself being given an IV and wearing the patient's clothes. Dimas hissed while holding his throbbing head. His body inched to sit, I don't know how long he had been lying in a hospital bed until all the muscles in his body felt stiff when moved.

"Ssshh... Since when did I get treated?" Dimas was so busy asking himself that he didn't notice the presence of two people, who were now shocked to see him.

Tears immediately flowed from Natalie's eyes. The sadness that has been buried for 5 years, finally can be poured out. Natalie had long expected the moment when Dimas woke up from his long sleep. A miracle that is considered ridiculous by many, but Natalie never stopped hoping for such silliness.

Who would have thought that everything would turn out right before her eyes in such an unexpected time?! With staggered steps, Natalie approached the bed where Dimas was sitting, leaving Dave, who was stunned to watch the miracle in silence.

"Dimas,... are you awake?" Natalie choked on tears, making Dimas finally realize her existence.

Dimas frowned, seeing Natalie, who was so sad for him. His lips opened to say something, but a warm and tight embrace suddenly wrapped around Dimas's body. The man who had just woken up from his coma froze to get a sudden hug from a woman who was crying bitterly right in front of him.

"Thank goodness... You finally woke up after five years. I've always looked forward to times like this. I never stopped wishing that one day you would wake up from your coma, no matter what time it was." Natalie sobbed in the crook of Dimas's neck, wide-eyed at getting this kind of treatment from people he didn't know.

"W-wait... What do you mean five years?" Dimas's voice trembled. He seemed shaken to know the amount of time that had passed. At least that's what Natalie thought.

Natalie looked up to meet Dimas's clear eyes. A sad smile was plastered on her tear-stained face. "You've been in a coma for five years, Dimas."

"No way! What nonsense are you talking about?!" Unexpectedly, Dimas pushed Natalie roughly. Natalie, who was not ready, immediately fell to the floor from the push.

Dave, who witnessed how his sister was treated rudely, immediately moved the wheelchair to approach Natalie. Dave held out his hand, intending to help Natalie. "Nata, are you okay? How about your hand? Does it hurt?"

When she fell off the bed earlier, Natalie's arm landed on the floor first. This will cause pain in Natalie's arm.

Without thinking about the pain in her hand, Natalie froze on the floor. Her mind blankly digested the previous situation. Natalie's pupils quivered as her mind replayed what Dimas had said a moment ago.

"H-Ha? Bullshit?" Natalie laughed sadly, her bloodshot eyes staring at Dimas who was glaring at her.

Dimas massaged his temples while shaking his head several times to relieve the dizziness. "Who the hell are you?! Why say I've been in a coma for five years?!"

Natalie was running out of words when she heard Dimas' words, which became more and more foreign. It was as if Dimas had forgotten who Natalie was.

Natalie shook her head vehemently against her thoughts. Huh, no way, right? God was joking with Natalie by making Dimas forget her for the umpteenth time?! This isn't too funny to be a joke! And there's no way someone like Dimas would joke with her about this!

"Hah, this is the first time I've seen ungrateful people! You wake up forgetting everything and even forgetting the people who have taken care of you every day without being absent! Hoping for your recovery without ever giving up hope even though you know everything is not easy to realize!" Dave said sarcastically and stretched his arms in front of Natalie to block Dimas's gaze, who looked at Natalie with disdain.

Dimas's eyes narrowed sharply. There was a feeling of dislike when he saw a man he didn't know seemed close to the woman who previously hugged him. What makes Dimas even more unhappy is why he cares so much about women he doesn't even know at all.

"Shut up! Don't interfere! I have nothing to do with you!" Dimas said in a cold tone that made the hairs stand on end. However, this is not felt by Dave, who is the former leader of the Black Eagle, a mafia group that has been destroyed. According to Dave, Dimas's current attitude is like a young master who has high prestige.

Dave's gaze shifted to Natalie, who was still kneeling on the floor. Dave's hand gripped Natalie's arm and pulled her, so Natalie stood up. "Wake up, Nata! Look at what you've cared for all these years! He's become a forgetful person to the person who took care of him all this time! Your efforts have only been in vain! Even dogs know how to thank those who feed them!"

Natalie's body shivered at Dave's words. Her heart ached so much that Natalie didn't know what to do. Natalie, who lost her grip on life, was in the form of Dimas, her lover who had now forgotten about her, only holding Dave's hand tightly.

Dimas had been observing Dave's movements, from Dave holding Natalie's hand, until Natalie returned the grip of the hand just as tightly. Dimas's chest felt burning when he saw the two hands holding each other tightly. Dimas's gaze was so piercing, as if he wanted to punch a hole in the two intertwined hands.

"You! What are you guys..." Dimas did not continue his speech. He suddenly realized, why was he suddenly angry to see their closeness?! What a nonsense thing!

Natalie, who had previously been in shock, finally managed to control herself. The girl took a deep breath to relieve the tightness in her chest. "You... don't know me?"

Natalie looked up at Dimas who was sitting on the bed. Their gazes were locked so that no one could escape. Dimas was immersed in Natalie's gloomy gaze. His lips parted to say that he didn't know Natalie at all. However, a corner of his heart said that he would regret it if he said that.

"Uhm... Me! I..."

The first 'I' was spoken firmly, but the second was wobbly at the loss of words. Dimas couldn't say any words in front of Natalie. He had shrunk under Natalie's cold stare.

"Think about it. I'm giving you a chance to think things over before saying things you'll regret!" Natalie stood with her hands on Dave's wheelchair. Natalie's hands gripped tightly on the rim of the wheelchair, Natalie's legs actually felt weak and didn't have the strength to support her body.

However, the poor girl forced herself hard to stand up straight in front of the person who pointed the knife at her heart. Tearing old wounds open again brings a new sensation of pain.

"I'll call the doctor." Natalie turned and walked towards the door. As the door closed completely, Natalie's body lost all its remaining strength. Natalie's back leaned against the door and slowly sank.

Natalie bit her lower lip, holding back her sobs so that Dimas and Dave in the room wouldn't hear. "Why? Actually, why?!"

Natalie screamed in her heart, wondering why Dimas had forgotten her. Natalie had been waiting a long time. Five years, Natalie had waited that long not to be forgotten again when Dimas woke up from a coma.

"I hope he wakes up from the coma soon, without expecting him to remember me when he wakes up."

***

"This is truly a miracle! Five years in a coma and he woke up from the coma without showing any signs! I'm going to do some checks to make sure he's out of harm's way!"

Doctors are so overjoyed to see a patient who has been in a coma for 5 years and has almost no hope of waking up one day, now a miracle has happened. Of course, the doctor didn't want to miss the opportunity to do some tests on Dimas.

Dimas rolled his eyes lazily, receiving treatment from a doctor who was very foreign to him. Not only the doctor, but the surrounding people that Dimas didn't know. Everything felt completely unfamiliar.

"How long do I have to be in the hospital? I want to go home soon! Father won't like it if I act weak because Father needs my help!" Dimas said firmly.

The doctor who heard this just smiled a little. "I'll tell you later. Get some rest first."

Dimas took a deep breath. His eyes rolled over to Natalie, who was staring at him intensely. Dimas raised an eyebrow as he cleared his throat awkwardly. "Why are you looking at me like that? Was there something wrong with what I said?"

Natalie smiled lopsidedly. A father?! When the memory of Natalie is forgotten, Dimas remembers his scumbag father! Dimas even looked for his father, as if Christian Lawrence had taken care of him all this time! What's with that respectful tone when you say 'Father'?! Dimas really has lost a lot of memory!

"You are very funny, Dimas. It was so easy to forget me, now in front of me you are looking for the bastard who dumped you?! What a cheap joke!" Natalie's face looks very sour when she talks about Christian.

"Watch your words!" Dimas's voice rose an octave, making Natalie jump. Dimas gritted his teeth, looking disapproved when Natalie mocked his father. "Don't you dare insult my Father! Or I'll make you regret it!"

Natalie clenched her fists until her body was shivering with rage that reached the top of her head. If Dave was here, maybe the man would curse Dimas without holding back. Unfortunately, Natalie had asked Dave to wait outside because Natalie knew there would be a fight going on with Dimas who had a changed nature.

Dimas's arrogance is not something new. Natalie once faced Dimas, who was once a young master. That was a long time ago when Dimas met Natalie for the first time. Dimas, who was filled with arrogance before an accident that made him amnesiac and had short-term memory, made him stupid. Now, after being in a coma for 5 years, Dimas has returned to being a proud young master before losing everything he had.

"Regret? Why should I be sorry? Everything I said just now was not an insult, but the truth! The truth that your amnesiac brain can't remember!" Natalie squeaked, after a while she felt sick because Dimas always fell in the same state. Again, Dimas had amnesia for the second time. Now it's even worse, especially with his cocky nature.
