Belinda blinked. She blinked again. Yep. That was a paw. Attached to a leg. All fur covered. White. "What on earth?" she screamed in her head. "Calm down. You asked me to prove it. I did.And your mate is here. He found you and brought you here. We are safe." her wolf voice spoke. Belinda blacked out inside her own head leaving Artemis in charge. Juan looked at the beautiful white wolf before him. He shifted immediately and rubbed his snout on Artemis'. Artemis purred and rubbed on Juan's wolf. Juan's wolf was just a little.taller and a little more mass than Artemis. Juan was black...all black. He was an Alpha after all. "Little white wolf, who are you and why are you almost as large as I am? Explain yourself." Ramus spoke through a mindlink that Artemis thought was not possible without being mated and marked. Artemus whimpered and lay down. "I am Artemis. I know you, Ramus but I thought it not possible to mindlink yet as our humans are not marked or mated yet." "Artemis? It is you?" Ramus wagged his tail and yipped. "Yes. It is me, my love. How I have missed you!"
Ramus and Artemis are ancient wolf spirits. They have been mates at each arrival of the King and Queen werewolf. The King had been here for 25 years already waiting for his Queen again. She had not even known who she is and had been born across the sea. It took a miracle to bring her here. The prophecy said that the King and Queen werewolf would unite all packs and even establish a truce with humans. Countless times the King and Queen were born and countless times now they were killed by other werewolves jealous of their power and long before any truce could be established with humans. Humans were mostly still oblivious of their existence and the few who did know were considered insane by the humans.
"Artemis, how I have missed you!" Ramus mind spoke. "I have not lost any of my previous powers in this arrival so I can speak with you and all other werewolves without a bond of mate or pack."
"Good. Then perhaps I have brought forward my previous powers as well." It was a statement Artemis made, not a question. "Ramus, does that mean we need these powers immediately? Is danger already upon us? This girl is clueless How will she be able to meet the danger so soon? Are we already doomed?"
Ramus rubbed against her side, "Let us not prejudge this young woman. And let us not lose hope. Juan knows. He has known his whole life and I think she has too but has not yet understood her visions. She will. I trust Juan to enlighten her. And she has you!"
Artie rubbed against Ramus and purred again. "It is time to give our humans back control. I will see you later." Artemis transformed back and Belinda woke naked on the grass in the backyard of a large house with that mystery man throwing a blanket over her and lifting her up bridal style. He walked to the back porch, opened the back door and walked quickly upstairs back to the room she originally woke up in.Neither of them had said a word.
Belinda finally snapped.out of the stupor.
"Let me down." she said softly.
"No." he replied.
"Let me down.I can walk on my own."
"No."
She sighed. Her heart was racing and yet she felt strangely safe.
"Why won't you let me down."
"Because..."
This obviously wasn't getting her anywhere. He entered the house and brought her to the back room. He placed her gently on the bed and sat beside her.
"You...you are the man in Manila?"
"Yes."
"Why...I mean...what is your interest in me." She was working very hard not to panic or became angered.
"You are my mate,my beloved, my other half, my heart."
"You don't even know me!"
"I know you.I know your father. I know your grandfather. And you are my mate."
"What on earth are you talking about!?"
"My dear mate, you are a werewolf, well... at least half werewolf..." He is interested by Belinda.
"I am not! There are no such things as werewolves. Next you will telling me vampires, elves and fairies exist!"
"Ummm...they do. As do demons and angels, dwarves and..."
"You are more insane than I thought before." She moved to get off the bed. Juan held her on the bed. "We need to talk. You just shifted. You saw your paws and the fur on your legs..."
"Hahaha. How did you know my dream or was it a nightmare!?"
"My lola (grandma) sent you the dream. Your father shared that he feared your mother would control you and never tell you the truth. He feared being raised in an academic setting with a rational person like your mother, who discounted all things supernatural or even spiritual as ridiculous and impossible, you would never be told about him or you or me or us. It appears he was right, di ba? (asks a question)"
He wasn't wrong. Belinda was shocked into silence. After a few awkward moments she aakes, "Is he still alive? Is he here?"
"Who?...oh.. your father..yes he is alive and no he is not here. Soon,my mate.Soon." He kissed the top of her head and turned to leave the room. " Sleep now.We will talk later."
