Chapter 3 - Common sense says

The sound was more than her sensitive ears could bare. She screamed, unable to shut out the noise. After making it out of her retraintes and leaving her father's family tomb; she had finally made it home but right now she felt like her throat was on fire. water, water , something, anything. Quenching her thirst was all she could think about. But nothing eased the aching. she barged through the door and out into the fall night air. everything was too much; cars she couldn't see but hear, animals scurrying and yaping, worms that dug loudly through the dirt, music that rattled the brain. she wasn't sure why but she woke up to hell the moment she opened her eyes. She ran hitting something every now and again but they didn't hurt. She didn't even know how fast she was going or where but she felt she had to get away from the noise. Then she smelled it; something delicious. Unable to control the hunger she felt she gravitated towards it. Hunger began to over take her other senses; locking in on the target she pounced on it and bit into it without hesitation. It wasn't until the liquid was flowing down her throat that she realized what she was biting into.

Her eyes widened as reality set in. She let go immediately but it was too late.

"Oh god..." The words escaped her lips as she backed away. The man seemed to be choking as he grabbed onto his blooded neck. Alona didn't know what to do as she zoned out; unable to accept her own actions she shook her head.

"No, not me, not me."

"P-please." The man still holding his neck reached out with his other hand as if to ask for help. Alona felt like she couldn't move. The gaze of the man looking at her with a mix of fear and desperation nailed her in place like a hammer. All the things she hated she had become; until she was nothing more than a monster. The same gaze she saw reflected her the same way her gaze the first time saw one reflected a vampire. Those emotions hit her like a wave. Finally the man went limp. His blood had pooled and began to trickle toward her like a red stream. she looked at it and hated the sudden rush of hunger she felt. Her clouded mind slowly seemed to clear the more she stared at it until she felt no reason at all. Unable to hold back she lapped at the small stream until she came to be next to the fresh corpse and bit into him again.

At the same time in another state.

"Mom, who's the guy that's been outside staring at our house?" Jazel felt a sudden chill at her son's words. it couldn't be that man from before right? She put on a smile, pet his head, and made her way over to the window. Moving the curtain she saw a sickeningly familiar face looking right at her with a grin. Her breath caught; suddenly she couldn't breathe. Why was he there; how did he even know where she lived? She looked at her son as she tried to hide her discomfort. It wasn't safe here anymore.

"I don't know who that is but be sure to keep your distance okay. Promise?" Levy nodded in agreement but still looked confused. Why was that guy standing outside watching their house? Suddenly he remembered the rumors of how vampires followed and ate people. If that man was a vampire doesn't that mean they were in trouble?

"Mom is it true vampires eat people?!" Levy ran over to his mom who was looking through her phone. She nearly dropped it at the sudden impact and let out a sigh.

"They did once. But now there are alternatives and even have little pills called vegan plasma supplements available. so vampires don't have to eat people." Jazel didn't want her son to grow up being biased so she told him a truth without bias. Personally she wanted nothing to do with the vampires and would have said yes to anyone else. Being aware of her own prejudice was disheartening; but she would not place that same view on her child and would let him come to his own opinion. Levy turned that answer over in his head a few times before replying.

"So they CAN eat people?" Jazel wanted to fum at how clever her son was but instead she held him in her arms and tried to ease his fears.

"Well yes, but humans can eat other humans too." Levy seemed blown away by that statement before nodding. He became deep in thought and his little hands played in his mothers long red hair.

"But don't go anywhere near that man okay. If you see him, go to the nearest authority or person you can find for help." He yawned before nodding again. Jazel smiled at his tired face and picked him up.

"Looks like it's time for you to go to bed, little man." She carried him up the stairs to his room, and tucked into bed. She looked out the window once more to see if the man had left yet only to find that he had moved closer. The feeling of unease as their eyes met again made her feel like a small animal encountering a predator. Just like before he grinned mockingly. She looked away infuriated; this bastard was toying with them. She had to throw him off their trail and get away somehow. Vampires were bound by the law ever since the rectification of the universal declaration of Human rights. It was expanded and amended to include Vampires, Therianthropes, and Fairies. However it was difficult proving they did anything because of the usual lack of evidence. If I said he was stalking me and my family he could just as easily say he wasn't; and I currently have no evidence to prove he did but me and my sons statements. Jazel looked over at her son with determination. Aside from getting licensed hunters involved which could only be done after an official attack, moving was the only option.
