Chapter 1 - Before the night ends

Alona's laughter echoed through the corridors; wrapped in chains she wiggled in delight . Despite her ball gag everyone beneath the dark cathedral's roof could hear her.

"Are you so proud?" said Julianna with an imposing demeanor. Her tall elegance casted a condescending shadow over Alona like a tall tree. Alona looked into her eyes with a dazed madness. She remembered the first time she met her tiny cousin. Julianna was once a gentle sweet girl; fair skinned with blue eyes that glimmered like sapphires, and Her carrot red hair only seemed to get redder over the years. Who knew at the time she would become one of those Vampyre bastards. cold and murderous. Alona gave a short groan of disgust before shooting her a mocking look.

"You really think you've won." Julianna snickered before ordering one of her drudges to undo the ball gage.

"You really are stupid. Did you think it would end with your father? My uncle is far smarter than you human pigs -"

"You were human once yourself Julia." Alona said cutting in with a sharp tone.

"Tsk, I have been reborn. such a history is beneath me." She proclaimed imperiously; she straightened her posture as if to accentuate the difference between them.

"You can kill me; I've already completed my goal. You traiter bastards will pay my family back for all these years of humiliation in blood. Even if I don't return; the news of your patriarch, my father's death is already on it's way. Hahaha! your whole coven will be dead by morning!" The Sudden stinging pain Alona felt in her left cheek stopped her rambling for only a second before she began to laugh again. She knew the frustration Julianna must be feeling right now and she revelled in it. Her face hurt but the joy she felt at pulling one over on those who hurt her for so long was more prominent than the pain in her face. She spat out the blood in her mouth.

"Your bloodline ends with you and your petty minions Julianna." Alona said that but she still regretted having to kill her aunt, uncle and many others on her father's side. However they chose this path not her. It was then that she saw the wicked smile on Julianna's face. her mouth opened wide revealing her fangs and she said with a sweet voice.

"Our blood runs through your veins too Alona. Do you really think it will end with me?" Just after and only after the realization hit did Julianna strike. Alona could feel it; the poison was coursing through her veins. It hurt but that pain slowly turned to pleasure as she went numb like a strange aphrodisiac she could feel her body go limp. This is not how she wanted this to end. She knew she might die; she was prepared for that but she never thought they would pull something like this. She wanted so much to end it right there but she couldn't move. Finally Julia pulled back and giggled with bloodied lips. Her devilish smile looked delighted.

"You said you were ready to die right so how about I "curse" you. Your poor sister is going to pull out her hair when she sees you like this. Ha..Hahaha.. Oh I wish I could be a fly on the wall too see that. Ah right your precious family wouldn't even hesitate to end you. How does it feel to be on the other side; what are you gonna do now hm?" Julianna put her hand to her ear as if to listen and cackled wildly when no retort came. Just as she turned to leave she heard a whisper escape Alona's mouth.

"I hope all of you burn in hell."

Meanwhile in a small town in kansas ..

"Ah I'm so tired. I'm never going grocery shopping this late again." Jazel pushed the cart with a sigh. The pavement was freshly wet from the recent rainy weather and the hot air made it extremely muggy. She went to pull out her keys and the sudden stickiness she felt between her fingers made her uncomfortable; she fumbled trying not to drop her purse and instead dropped her keys. Just as she reached down to pick them up another hand came into view and grabbed them first.

Spooked Jazel took a step back.

"Oh, I didn't mean to scare you. '' The man wore a long coat with a red scarf that was embellished with a lavish crest. He had a regal demeanor that radiated authority. With swept back blond hair, His pale skin and golden colored eyes looked unnatural.

"Vampyre."In shock the words escaped her mouth before she realized it and the man smiled knowingly.

"Well you're not wrong; but I mean you no harm." He said as he held out her keys. She stared at those keys as if she was being held at gunpoint. It was already revealed that vampyres were real; The problem wasn't that they exist but that it was a proven fact vampyres were behind many disappearances and killings in the past decade. She finally came to the decision to take her keys and leave.

"Thanks." She grabbed the keys and immediately went to the driver side.

"What about you groceries?'' His voice was smooth and friendly but his eyes held a level of amusement that made it seem as if he was playing some kind of game. Jazel suddenly felt sick. She wanted nothing more than to leave this creepy situation; but she really did need those groceries. She had already spent a lot of money and her family would definitely starve for the month otherwise. She gritted her teeth in frustration.

"Ah right." She avoided eye contact as she began to load the groceries into the back seat. Vampyres were known to use strange powers; One being hypnosis, if eye contact was maintained for too long. She found it terrifying that these things were walking around unmonitored for so long.

"Here you go." The sudden closeness of the stranger's voice made Jazel stop breathing. She looked to her right and froze all together. She didn't even hear the bag rustle; the look in the man's eyes was one laced with hunger. When did he get so close? She was now caught between the car door and him.

"Is everything alright?" Jazel swallowed hard as she slowly turned around at the arrival of another person. She realized just how fast her heart was pounding as she relaxed at the sight of the 2 cops. The stranger dropped the bag into the back seat before he backed off and acknowledged them in a gentlemanly way.

"Just helping a lady in need." The look on his face gave nothing away. You'd never guess he was being so threatening just a moment ago. She looked at the empty cart and then quickly moved to close the door before hopping into the front seat with vigor.

"Excuse me!" She said in a panic. Not even bothering to check her rearview mirrors she pulled out of the parking lot and onto the open road. The face of the strange man didn't leave her mind until she was home and behind closed doors.
