Led by the kobold warrior, two other ordinary adult kobolds were also charging towards a group of boars in front of them. With a bone spear in their hands, they rushed towards one of the boars that were already riddled with 3 other bone spears that were thrown by their comrades earlier.
The boar was taken by surprise by the sudden ambush, but as creatures that lived in the forest ever since they were born, the boars reacted quickly.
Seeing their attackers were less than them by one, the boars decided to not run away and tried to shield their kin that was the sole victim of their attackers.
The one boar who had taken the 3 spears was certainly not in a good condition. 2 of the spears were lunged into the boar's backside and didn't do much damage other than blood loss, but one other spear was thrown slightly to the front and hit the boar's lungs.
If it was an ordinary boar, getting its lung stabbed is fatal and the boar would die on its own due to blood filling up its lung, but the boar that had three spears stuck to its body is not an ordinary boar, it was a level 12 boar from The Forest of Firia. Its body was way tougher and more resilient compared to an ordinary livestock, a spear to its lung and 2 more on its belly and back is not enough to instantly kill it.
The boar shook its body hard and although it caused the wound on its body to widen because of its rash movements, the boar still tried to shake off the spear from its body.
While the one boar was busy trying to shake off the spears from its body, the three other boars were not idle either as they were trying their best to fight off against the three kobolds that were led by the kobold warrior. And surprisingly, although the kobold warrior had an advantage in terms of techniques, body control, and equal power the strength difference between the two groups is not that large for it to be a one-sided fight.
Matthew expected the kobold warrior that already reached level 15 and had its race changed and body enhanced would be enough to completely overpower the boars that were still under level 15, but the reality seems different as it looked that it was only enough to gain a slight advantage over the group of boars.
He might win if he fought one on one against the boar, but in this group fight, the boars' coordination is top-notch as every time the kobolds swung their spears, the boars used their tusks to deflect them.
When three of the kobolds confronted the boars, the 3 other kobolds that had thrown their spears didn't stay idle and silently circled around them and went to the side of the boars.
By the time the boar that was struck by the three spears had shaken off all the spears, it had already spent a lot of its strength and with the wound on its body still bleeding, its body was getting weaker and weaker over time.
And that is exactly the moment that the three kobolds had been waiting for.
From the nearest bush to the wounded boar, three kobolds suddenly jumped out and rushed towards the wounded boar. Two of the kobolds are lucky enough to grab the spears scattered on the ground while the other one ran to the side and circled the boar.
The two kobolds then stabbed their spears. One of the kobolds aimed his spear towards the boar's cheek which was also reflected by the boar's tusk while the other struck from a different angle and aimed at the boar's eyes.
The weakened boar couldn't defend the strike properly, but it was smart enough to tilt its body causing the spear to miss its eyes and pierce its ear instead.
But the kobolds' barrage didn't just end there, the true, main attack was about to be done by the third kobold who was already directly beside the boar.
When the two kobolds used their spears to get the boar's attention, the third kobold cautiously sneaks up on the boar's side, and using the kobold's claw he thrust his claws onto the front underside of the boar where the boar's heart is located.
The kobolds' claws were not as strong nor intimidating as a bear's or a wolf's, but when used to pierce through the underside of a boar, it is certainly enough to penetrate the boar's flesh and muscles.
The claws on the edge of the kobold's fingers slipped through the boar's ribs and the sharp claws penetrated the boar's heart and it didn't take long for the boar to finally fall down to the ground and blood kept on flowing out of its body.
The kobold who pierced the boar's heart ran towards the one remaining spear on the ground and grabbed it, then the three of them joined the other group that was led by the kobold warrior and quickly circled the three remaining boar that was already starting to get overwhelmed by the superior spear technique of the kobold warrior.
The six kobolds pressed the remaining boars from all sides, poking and slashing the three boars from all angles, and the boars who were able to deflect the spears earlier using their tusk were completely dominated by the six kobolds as the boars need to constantly watch out for attacks from multiple angles at once.
And soon the same occurrence that Matthew saw when he was still a level 2 chameleon happened again in front of his eyes.
One of the boars started charging forward while disregarding the attacks from the kobolds and with the gap that it created from the sudden charge forward, the two other boars slipped past the kobolds encirclement and ran away, saving themselves from the certain death situation.
Unfortunately, their salvation was at the cost of their comrade's life as the one boar who sacrificed its life was surrounded by all six kobolds and with that, the kobold had gained 2 boars to be brought back to the village.
The spectators, which were Matthew and the three kobold kids, looked at the six kobolds in awe as this is the first time that the kids had seen how the adult kobolds hunted while Matthew was purely awed because of the kobolds' amazing teamwork.
Although Matthew had thought of a couple of ways on how to make the hunt more efficient, the fact that their coordination and teamwork are so smooth is an undeniable fact.
'I guess that's naturally what would happen if people had worked together for a long time.'
Matthew then looked at the three kobold children beside him and his gaze locked on the first kobold kid for a second before remembering his promise to the old kobold.
Matthew then mumbled in an unusually loud voice,
"Wahh…they're so cool working together."
The three kids who 'accidentally' heard Matthew's mumble nodded their heads and said,
"Yes, they are very cool! I want to be like them when I become an adult!"
"Yes… me too…"
"Now you two know why I wanted to be a kobold warrior like our parents right? They are the best!"
Seeing that the kids responded to him, Matthew then continued to mumble,
"If Mutt was here, then he definitely could help the group to ensure the 4 boars were captured. With his amazing and very cool magic, then the boars wouldn't be able to run away like that."
The kids then responded again,
"That's right! If the village chief was here then he would definitely defeat all those boars using his flame!"
"That's true, the village chief's magic is so impressive…"
"Well, if grandpa helped, the kobolds won't even need complex strategy and excellent teamwork as his magic is versatile and it can do a lot of things and indeed it is very co…"
Matthew heard the three kids talking and he started to smile as he heard the first kobold kid talking, but the first kobold kid didn't finish his sentence. He abruptly closed his mouth and looked at Matthew in a questioning manner.
'Ceh, he already realized what I'm trying to do. Damn, this smart little kid…'
Yes, before they departed from the village, Matthew whispered to the old kobold that he would help him coax the first kobold kid to learn magic.
