Chapter 63 - Turning Tails and Swinging Away

Matthew is currently looking at the bear that had just activated its aura ability. There is no huge difference other than the bear's appearance other than the white aura covering its body and the concentration of aura at the bear's claws serving just like an extension to the original claw.

After Matthew climbed up the tree, he immediately went completely invisible with the chameleon's aura ability, disappearing completely before the bear's eyes. And he immediately jumped off to a different tree so that even if the bear decided to chop the tree down, he wouldn't be in an awkward situation.

Despite not being a physical change, Matthew also felt that the bear's strength has definitely gone up if not doubled. Matthew just thought that he was lucky that his feet are not rooted to the ground like a tree and the bear's sharp claws didn't hit him earlier, but only the bear's softer paw.

Matthew thought that if he was a tree earlier, then Matthew is 99% sure that if he didn't break into two after that single slap, he will at least start growing sideways from now on. And Matthew couldn't even imagine if he wasn't lucky enough and the bear's claw had actually hit him instead of the bear's paw. Just imagining his body sliced into 4 pieces with his insides flying out really gave him a hard thought to swallow.

Matthew currently stayed completely invisible and didn't dare to do anything other than observing the bear who is currently still shaking the tree that he climbed up before. The bear's strength was so immense that when the bear shook the tree with both of his hands, Matthew could see that the roots of the tree were actually fighting to hold their position in the ground.

'How can he do that though!?'

Matthew clearly saw that the bear looked to be affected by his venom and he even saw with his own eyes that the bear's eyes were already hazy and he was right at death's door.

But the fact that the bear had suddenly woken up from the haziness then regaining his original strength, even doubling it by using his aura ability is so shocking that Matthew was caught off guard and he gave the bear a free chance to slap him again, which the bear gladly take to give him a very exceptional slap that Matthew will probably remember for the rest of his chameleon's life.

'Does his aura ability have the ability to cancel out the venom's symptoms or was it capable of suppressing the venom itself that the venom lost its effects?'

'And that increase in strength, I thought that only the wolves have that ability, but after seeing the level 15 deer and now the bear also has that effect when using their aura ability. System, can I ask why didn't I also have one when I activated my chameleon ability? That's not fair and I need explanations!'

'How host's aura ability works is a little bit different than the creatures that host just mentioned. When the aura fuses with host's body, then it will naturally give a boost to host's strength.'

'The wolves, deers, and bear's aura ability are supposed to be the type that infuses aura to their body.'

'In the wolves' case, their aura ability not only infuses aura to their body to boost their strength, but the main property of the wolf's aura ability is to actually share the strength boost to its other pack members.'

'For the deer's case, other than boosting their overall body strength, most of their aura went into their antlers and gave their antlers a significant upgrade in both toughness, strength, and a slight boost in range since the aura also acts as an extension of their antlers.'

'For the bear's aura ability, host didn't have the necessary information from the monster data to analyze the bear's aura ability, but from host's descriptions, there's a high chance that the bear's aura ability is similar to how the deer's aura ability worked.'

'And for the host's chameleon aura ability case, instead of fusing with host's body, the aura covered host's whole body and made host's body look invisible to other's eyes. Hence why host didn't get the strength boost from the chameleon's aura ability.'

'Wait system, I don't really expect you to answer my question since you've said that you don't have any more information regarding aura ability. But now you suddenly have them and I have to trick you into telling me? Is that how you wanna play the game system!?'

'The system gained the related knowledge only from the monster data that the host had collected. If the host didn't have the data, then the system won't be able to answer the host's inquiries.'

'Whatever system, I don't trust your excuses! Why are you being so stingy, come on, spit it out! Spit all the knowledge you possess to me!!'

But the system didn't give any response to answer Matthew's tantrum.

'Humph! Just wait for me to…'

Matthew was about to throw another tantrum to the system, but midway, he was interrupted by a sudden *boom* that was so loud that Matthew's brain stopped working for a split second, then another crashing sound that was not anyway inferior to the former boom sound was heard following it.

With Matthew's wolf ears, he could determine correctly where the sound came from, but even without the wolf hear, that loud sound is hard to miss.

When Matthew looked at the direction where the sound came from, Matthew realized that it was coming from the direction of the tree that he had first climbed earlier to run awa...regroup before fighting against the bear.

When his eyes landed on the tree, Matthew could still see the bear was standing in front of the tree. Or rather, what remains of the tree.

The tree was already broken in half and the top half is currently laying on the ground, separated from its roots. While the roots are still holding on strong to the ground even with all the vicious shaking that the bear had done to it, the tree couldn't do much when the bear was genuinely irritated and decided to give the tree a full-power, aura ability boosted slap with its claw clad in the white aura.

After the tree was finally down, the bear then walked over to the top half of the tree, then started searching for the creature that escaped from its grasp earlier.

The bear already learned that the creature was able to disappear, so it didn't only look closely at the tree branches and the ground to spot any movement made by the creature, but it also checked the tree branches one by one by sweeping them with his claws just in case the creature stayed invisible on one of them.

But who would have thought that not only the creature was able to turn invisible, it was also able to maneuver nimbly from tree to tree, and with a little bit of practice, even Matthew could minimize the sound that he made when he moved to another tree and stayed undetected from the bear that wasn't paying attention to its hearings because it was in an enraged state.

Seeing that the bear is currently hell-bent on finding him, Matthew of course shared the same sentiment when it comes to finishing his business with the bear.

Now that Matthew had already gone this far, and even the life of a tree had been sacrificed for him, he didn't want to back down.

But of course, Matthew decided to do this since he also felt that he had a chance. Although the bear was currently looking somewhat immune to his venom, Matthew was sure that the earlier condition of the bear where he was sprawled on the ground is not 100% fabricated and his venom's effect was only somehow alleviated by the bear's aura ability right now.

But when the bear's aura reserve is dried out, then Matthew could reapply his venom to the bear since he still has 1 sack full of spider venom and about more than half a sack of the snake's venom.

But if the aura ability only suppressed the venom as a short-term solution, then when the bear's aura ability ran out. The bear will return back to the hazy state and probably even weaker.

And with the way the bear is using the aura ability to chop down trees using its claws, Matthew guessed that if he baited the bear to do heavy labor a few more times, then it won't be too long for the bear's aura reserve to be emptied.

But the problem is, the strategy Matthew just thought of, needs 1 crucial element to work. Which is aura.

While Matthew wanted to play the long game until the bear's aura ran out, his own aura reserve is already at a crucial state as well. He predicted that he could only stay invisible for another 10 minutes at most.

And if Matthew used his own aura reserve to predict the bear's aura reserve, then the bear will still have juice after about 30 to 40 minutes while Matthew will already run dry by a long time by then. So that strategy won't probably work for Matthew's situation.

'What should I do, what should I do!? I don't want to turn my tail and swing away!'
