Chapter 61 - A Slap

Matthew held on tightly onto the bear's back using his 2 legs and 2 hands to hug the bear's back and secured his position to bite the bear's lower neck and inject his poison.

The bear of course noticed that something had definitely landed on top of him and attacked him. Although the bear didn't know that Matthew is currently injecting venom into his body and he also didn't feel much pain from Matthew's attack because of his thick skin and tough muscles beneath that skin, the bear is still wary about a creature that suddenly appeared out of nowhere and attacked him. So he tried his best to shake the creature of his body by jerking his body left and right violently.

The harder the bear shook its body, the stronger Matthew's grip onto the bear's body became. But Matthew kept on staying calm and just focused on injecting his venom into the bear's body.

'Shake as much as you want, teddy bear. I've done this kind of rodeo a lot of times before and your body being so big could only help me hold on more tightly.' Matthew thought.

'As long as I don't have the intention to release my grip, no matter what you try to do there's no way that I wi..'

Before Matthew finished speaking in his head, he suddenly felt that his body was being thrown away by a tremendous strength that is way over his expectations. The slap was so sudden and powerful that even Matthew's firm grip was forcibly released from the bear's back and Matthew flew off from the bear's body and his body was launched straight into a nearby tree.

Matthew was startled for a second before realizing that his body was already flying in the air, and his body was currently heading straight to a tree.

Matthew also noticed that with the speed that he was currently traveling at, he would have some injuries from crashing straight against the tree. Matthew maybe won't get any external injuries from his tough crocodile scutes protecting his body, but his insides will surely feel the impact of such a heavy crash.

So Matthew put aside all of the questions that popped up inside his head and just focused on saving himself first from the incoming predicament.

Using his 360 degrees eyesight, Matthew could see the exact position of the tree which is slightly on his left and not directly in front of his face. Matthew then rotated his body so that his belly would be facing the tree instead of his back by swinging his tail to generate a rotational force.

With the tree only about a meter away from him, Matthew brought up his left arm and positioned it properly so that he could use it as a hook when his body crashed against the tree.

The moment his left hand made contact with the tree trunk, Matthew used the forward momentum that he got from his flight and then he used his left hand that currently served as a hook to redirect the forward momentum sideways.

What Matthew just did was basically just tree-swing, but horizontally. When he swung from tree to tree, Matthew often used his hands to act as a pivot point for his body to redirect the downward momentum to an upward momentum and thus launched his body up and forward to another tree. But this time, he used the same principle to redirect the momentum sideways to dodge crashing onto the hard tree trunk.

And just like that Matthew succeeded in avoiding crashing headfirst onto the tree, and when he landed on the ground he just rolled his body forward to dissipate the remaining momentum carried inside his body.

Matthew silently thanked himself for swinging around so much right after his third evolution because his current superb body control is the result of such activities.

After Matthew had finally landed safely and his body came to a stop, he looked at the bear and he finally realized what had caused him to fly off like that.

When Matthew was mounting the boars or deers before, they couldn't do anything directly to Matthew except shaking their bodies as hard as they could either by running, shaking, or bumping their bodies into trees to get Matthew off their backs.

But the bear is different. The bear actually got hands that could reach out to his back. And coincidentally, the bear's paws are one of its strongest body parts. And the careless Matthew who completely didn't realize about that fact also didn't expect that he would be swatted away like a fly by the bear's paw.

Fortunately, his reflex is quite good and his body control is rather excellent. Matthew was able to save himself almost completely harmless from the bear's slap except from the initial impact that he received from being slapped, he received no additional damage from maneuvering his body to dodge the tree and landed safely onto the ground.

Matthew stayed invisible all this time, and throughout the course of his body flew off, swung around the tree, and rolled on the ground. And although the bear couldn't see Matthew's figure at all, his sensitive ears are enough to be able to clearly hear all the noises that Matthew made when he tried to save himself from crashing onto the tree.

When Matthew landed on the ground and rolled, he made a loud enough sound for the bear to look at his way and started charging in his direction.

The bear ran on its 4 limbs to the source of the sound. But when he arrived there, the bear wasn't able to find anything besides some marks on the ground indicating that something or some creature had really fallen there.

The bear squinted his eyes and cautiously looked at his surroundings, from checking above the trees until inside the bushes, the bear still didn't find anything.

The bear thought that what had happened earlier was very weird. He could understand if some creature had suddenly ambushed him and wanted to kill him. But earlier, the creature only left some scratch marks on his body and disappeared out of nowhere after he only gave the creature a slap.

The bear tried to meticulously search for anything strange in particular in the surrounding area, and after doing that several more times and still failed to even a little tiny bit of anything strange, the bear finally let his guard down and started heading back to his nest.

But when the bear finally relaxed his mind and body, he finally felt something strange had happened to his body. He felt slight lightheadedness and cold sweat was actually appearing on his body.
