Despite the awkward silence and the monkey that was in Matthew's mouth was still desperately moving its fingers to point at the attacker that squeezed his neck and asked for his kin's help, the other monkeys didn't understand what the monkey meant.
Sure, the monkey was quick-witted and considered to have a brilliant mind for an animal. They also had heard the scream that they used to alert themselves when they're in danger, but they couldn't understand what one of them was doing pointing at nothing but air.
But their confusion didn't stay for long because they noticed that the monkey in question looked like it was struggling for its dear life and they all could notice the desperation in its eyes becoming clearer as time went by.
10 seconds had gone by since the monkey screamed, and the group of monkeys still didn't really understand what happened, but they trusted their kin and one of them decided to throw a rock in the direction of where that one monkey is pointing, which is directly beside its body.
The stone traveled at quite a fast pace since the monkeys have an unordinary strength compared to normal monkeys back on earth, and their hand-throw is as strong as if they had used a slingshot to launch the rock. The monkeys didn't know what to expect when they saw the rock was being thrown out, but suddenly, they peeled their eyes in shock when they had seen that the rock that was supposed to hit the ground below, stopped before it hits the ground as if it was hitting an invisible wall before the rock finally fell to the ground.
Seeing the agony on their kin face and the fact that the rock had just hit something, even the monkeys now are able to connect the dots together and realize that 'something' is currently attacking one of them
The monkey who was still stuck between Matthew's teeth had finally started to feel its body going limp as each second passed by. The moment Matthew had his teeth dug deep into the monkey's neck, its blood was still flowing out and went straight into Matthew's mouth even until now.
The monkey had been asking the group of monkeys for help and he succeeded in alerting them of an attack. But when he hoped that he would finally be freed from the grasp of his attacker. The group of monkeys only stared at him blankly as if they didn't understand what he meant by the scream for danger.
He looked at his surroundings and noticed that there was nothing near him. But he could clearly feel the suffocating feeling of his neck being squeezed and the feeling of something sharp piercing through his skin and he was sure that he wasn't just imagining things.
Even though the monkey was stricken by panic and fear as his neck was being gripped tightly by something tough and sharp, knowing that there are more than 10 of its kin around him, he was able to slightly calm down and think of what to do.
He tried to break away from the creature's grasp, but his desperate movement only made the creature hold on more tightly to his neck and the sharp thing that was attached to his neck only made it even more painful as his flesh was being torn.
Seeing that his kin hadn't made any move after seconds, the desperate monkey then used its 2 index fingers to point at supposedly the creature's position. He hoped that his friends would understand what he meant after he pointed at the creature.
But it still took more seconds for them to finally decide to do something and it was only throwing a rock in the direction that he had pointed.
By this time, more than 10 seconds had passed since the monkey felt the tight squeeze on his neck and the constant flow of blood pouring out from his neck had made the monkey's head light-headed. And he started to lose the feeling of connection from his brain with the rest of his body due to the lack of blood flowing to the brain.
When the other monkeys finally realized that the rock that they had thrown out of confusion actually hit something, it was already too late for them to save their friend.
With Matthew's 360 degrees view, he could also see the rock that was thrown in his direction, but he didn't pay much attention to it since they couldn't see him, and thus Matthew assumed that they shouldn't be able to aim properly and would miss the throw. And Matthew also underestimated the monkey's casual rock-throwing,
'How strong could it be? The monkey only threw it casually, it won't hurt me even if it does somehow hit my body.' Matthew thought in his head.
But who would've guessed when Matthew looked at the speed that the rock was traveling and the direction of its path, Matthew is sure that it was launched abnormally fast as if it was not just thrown casually by a monkey, and with a chameleon's excellent eyesight, Matthew could determine that the rock will definitely hit his body.
Matthew tried to move his body to evade the rock, but with a monkey still stuck between his teeth, and his chameleon body is not necessarily the agile type, he could only brace for impact.
When the rock finally hit Matthew's body, the pain was surely not as bad as he thought it would be, but if he was still in his human body, the rock would surely leave a bad bruise on his body.
Although Matthew's chameleon scales are not tough by any means, and after a few evolutions the toughness has also had been upgraded and is significantly better compared to the toughness it had pre-evolution, it is still not designed to stand against powerful attacks.
The rock that was thrown earlier and hit his body, didn't cause any wound or give any severe injury to Matthew's body, but he could still feel its strength. And if all the monkeys present decided to throw rocks at Matthew, he is sure that there will be an unavoidable injury.
The moment the rock hits Matthew's body and Matthew had felt the potentially dangerous situation he may be in if he stayed there any longer. He decided to just tear open the monkey's neck and get out of there first since his position was already exposed and there is no use in staying in the same place.
Although Matthew had been drinking quite an amount of the monkey's blood to avoid the blood from spilling to the ground and exposing his position, the moment Matthew tear apart the flesh on the monkey's neck, the blood continued to flow out and made a small puddle on the ground under the monkey's lifeless body.
Seeing their friend suddenly collapse on the ground with its neck being torn as if it had just been bitten by a wolf. The group of monkeys that numbered more than 10, screamed out loud of rage and they started looking in every direction to find the culprit.
A single monkey may not be able to do anything if a wolf decided to make the monkey its prey. But if at least 10 of those monkeys are grouped up together, even the wolves will think twice or thrice before even thinking of making a problem with the monkeys. And if there are 20 to 30 monkeys in a group, the wolves would definitely back off and even if they had grudges with the monkeys, they will wait for another time where there will be fewer monkeys because the wolves knew that dealing with 30 monkeys with only 5 of them is the same as them jumping straight into a lake full of crocodiles.
Animals that live in groups are living in a group for a reason, and a lot of that reason is for protection and to ensure their survival. And when the monkeys saw that one of their kin had been murdered in front of their very eyes, they were very angry and pissed off that the culprit dared to do such things right in front of them. And with the monkeys having each other's back, they had nothing to be scared of as they started to sweep the nearby areas to find the culprit.
Matthew was glad that he decided to quickly get out of the area first before thinking about anything else since facing the wrath of more than 10 monkeys at the same time is not a pleasant feeling if he were to stand in the middle of them.
But now that he was safe and sound, Matthew then could observe the situation that the monkeys' were in. And they are absolutely in chaos. They jumped from tree to tree everywhere and looked inside bushes and behind the trees, and separated from each other to quickly find the culprit. But Matthew had seen this chaos as a golden opportunity for him.
