Last night, after Matthew finished eating his spider, leaving only the head part and a leg uneaten. His monster data for the wandering spider is now complete at 100%. After that, he went straight to sleep because he had a big event planned for today.
Waking up early today, Matthew went out of his nest right after he opened his eyes. Although going out right after waking up is not too good for him since he usually needs time to fully gather his focus and attention back to his body, the forest is completely safe in the daytime. A light stretch and the warm sunlight with the slight cold morning wind helped him to fully wake up. Skipping his color-changing training for today, Matthew went straight deeper into the forest in search of spider heads.
Yes, spider heads. After figuring out a plan yesterday on how to kill the giant crocodile, Matthew realized that the spider head contained supposedly potent venom. Although Matthew doesn't really know how potent it is, at least Matthew knew that a few drops can even kill the nearby plants in an area, the first time he discovered the poison, 'Several of an intact spider head full of venom should be enough to kill or at least immobilize the crocodile right?' Matthew thought in his mind.
Matthew then made sure that his skin color is the same as the grass and walked into the forest area where there are a lot of tall trees, and searched for spider webs that are attached to the tree branches. Matthew walked and walked, exploring the area and when he found a spider web, he used yesterday's trick to quickly kill the spider, decapitate the head part, store the head somewhere close like in a bush, then continued to find the next spider to collect more of the spiders' heads.
'Dear spiders, I'm sorry that I'm not eating all of your bodies, It's not that I like to waste food, but I can't possibly eat all of you, my stomach can't even handle 1 of you guys in 1 sitting, and bringing all of you guys back to my nest is too tiring and I don't think I can finish you guys before you rot and… All I want to say is I'm sorry and thank you for your cooperation. I will make sure that your heads will be used for doing something amazing!'
After making rounds in the forest until the sun is directly above his head, Matthew decided that he already got enough and it is actually quite tiring for him to hunt spiders back to back right after killing one. But his hard work doesn't result in vain. Matthew succeeded in gathering 3 intact spider heads from his spider hunting session. Matthew then collected them all from the temporary place he stored them, then sticking them to his tongue before bringing them back to his nest.
Now that Matthew got 4 spider heads at his disposal, he needed to set up the next part of his plan for the big event tonight. Matthew went out to the lake and then searched for the bushes where the berries that the deers liked to eat grow. He then collected a lot of berries until they could almost fill up a big bowl, placing it near the lakeside and covering them under big leaves, to hide them just in case any creatures decided to come out in day time because of seeing a huge amount of berries.
After that, Matthew scouted the area to find a place where he could hide to wait until the trap that he made worked. Fortunately, Matthew could change his skin color to blend in with the environment so he didn't need to find a really covert place, in the worst case he didn't find a suitable spot, he could just gather some bushes and hide in them. Fortunately, he didn't need to do that. Matthew found a tall patch of grass that hadn't been eaten by the animals and decided to use that to hide later.
Now that all of his preparation is done, the last thing that Matthew needed to do is to wait for the night and start the operation.
When the sun started to go down the horizon, and the moon and stars appeared to lit up the forest to replace the sunlight. Matthew already brought all of the spider heads and the one spider leg and hid it at the patch of grass, he then removed the leaves that he used to cover the berries then he went back to his hiding place and waited for the stars of the show to come.
Laying low at the patch of grass, the group of deers that usually came near the lake finally appeared. Coming from the deeper parts of the forest, the same side where the wolves came from a few days ago, 5 deers with long antlers and huge strong bodies appeared walking to the lake. And soon other animals also started appearing in the area.
The first thing that the group of deers does when they arrive is to drink water from the lake, and then they start to search for leaves, fruits, and berries to eat. And of course, they noticed that there was a huge amount of berries at the side of the lake just laying there on the ground, and soon the group decided to come and eat the berries that Matthew had set up earlier.
With a group of deers right beside the lake, Matthew hoped that the crocodile would notice them and go out to hunt them again. But after all the berries were almost eaten up and the crocodile hadn't made any moves yet, Matthew started to worry that his plan would fail and he needed to wait there until there was a chance like yesterday where a deer will naturally wander near the lakeside again.
But Matthew's worry turns out to be not needed. As the last few berries were eaten, Matthew noticed the dark shade on the water appeared again, heading to the group of deers. Matthew, who knew what it was, hurriedly finished the last step of his preparations to stick the 4 spider heads through the spider legs carefully sticking the spider leg right in the middle of the head to avoid puncturing the venom glands.
Matthew then readied himself and got himself and his tongue to a position to throw the spider leg with the 4 venomous heads sticking to it.
The dark shade on the water then stopped at the edge of the lake, as if waiting for one of the deers to let down their guard. And after the deers finished eating the berries and wanted to walk away from the place, the crocodile jumped out of the water, with its large mouth opened wide, once again aiming at one of the deer's necks.
And just like yesterday, the crocodile succeeded in catching one of the deer. The rest of the group hurriedly ran away, leaving the poor deer all alone. The happy crocodile who just succeeded in catching dinner for himself tonight, strengthened his bite and started to crush the deer's neck.
But the crocodile is not the only one who's happy, Matthew who had been waiting for this moment all day long, launched the spider leg, along with the 4 heads directly heading to the gap on the crocodiles' mouth that was still biting the deer's neck.
The 4 spider heads then successfully went inside the crocodile's mouth. Matthew then waited for a reaction from the crocodile. If the venoms from 4 spider heads aren't enough to deal with the crocodile, then he has to give up on hunting the crocodile for now and try again when he is stronger.
Fortunately, Matthew didn't need to wait for another time as the crocodile suddenly let go of his bite on the deer's neck and started having seizures all over his body. It went on for a while before his huge body finally went limp on top of the grass at the lakeside. And the voice on Matthew's head confirmed his kill.
