Chapter 50 - Let's Go, Third Evolution!

Matthew continued killing the whole monkey group and only stopped until he heard the 23rd notification indicating that all 23 monkeys are 100% dead.

'Now that I'm level 15 and I already got the monster data that I wanted, should I just go home right now and evolve right away?'

Matthew is quite impatient since he has been waiting for his third evolution and wanted to do it as soon as possible. But after he realized that there were around 23 monkey corpses around him.

He didn't want to waste the macaque monkey monster data even though he didn't know if he would have any use for them yet, but more importantly, he would be wasting an abundant amount of bionutrients if he didn't eat the monkeys because bionutrients is an essential part of his evolution.

'But I still have 2 more uneaten crocodiles back at home… How long would it take me to eat them all?'

Looking at the monkeys whose average body size is roughly the same size as him, and comparing them to the crocodile's body, Matthew guessed that he could probably fit 3 to 4 of them into his stomach in one sitting. And judging by their size, 1 of them could provide Matthew about 150-200 bionutrients.

'4 or 5 monkeys should be enough to complete the monster data, but neglecting about 3000 bionutrients is simply too foolish and wasteful!'

'I guess having a three-dollar budget for a day of eating really helped me appreciate food more…'

Matthew remembered the time when he decided to move out of his parent's house early because his parents didn't even give him an ounce of support when he decided to pursue a career in music, and he had to do part-time jobs and odd jobs to get by while practicing his music in his spare time.

Eating the cheap and satiating carbs every day while only having a sprinkle of meat or some sort of protein as a topping has become the norm for him every day. Not that he hates it since Matthew even liked eating macaroni with salt, pepper, egg, and ketchup as his favorite meal back then.

And now when Matthew lives in this world, he only eats meat every single day, which is considered a huge upgrade in his food quality, even though it's raw meat.

'For the past Matthew's sake, I won't be intentionally wasting any food! Although I won't be finishing all of those meats, I will try my best to eat as much as I can before the meat goes bad!'

Matthew then started to gather up all the monkey corpses in one place so that it would be easier for him to get them back later since it would be too troublesome for him to drag all 23 monkey corpses back to his nest. And if any creature grabs one or two monkeys from the pile, Matthew won't feel angry and he would even thank them since it would mean that less food was wasted.

'But I killed these monkeys using venom… Will the other creature be affected by the venom…? Ah, Whatever, I will just leave them here, and if any creature does get infected by the venom, I will be saying sorry in advance for any difficulties that you'll have to go through!'

After Matthew finally finished moving all the monkeys to one spot, his hunger finally kicked in after finishing the laborious activities earlier and the adrenaline in his brain started to go down. And since he skipped his breakfast, the hunger he felt can't be neglected at all and he soon found himself started eating the monkeys.

Using his aura ability for about 30 minutes non-stop while jumping around here and there and slashing his claws can surely make Matthew feel tired. He also maintained his focus all those times to find the right moment to slash the monkeys when they let their guard down.

While Matthew was eating, he couldn't help but admire himself on how successful and clean his fight was against the monkeys earlier and the other animals that he had defeated so far since his only reference when he fought is only from watching action movies and some video games he played when he was little.

Fighting was not one of Matthew's forte back on earth since the place where Matthew had lived was quite peaceful and Matthew was lucky enough that he never had to get into the dark side of society where violence is the answer for everything.

But since he lived in this world, Matthew has to fight every day since it is a prerequisite for procuring his own food.

Matthew was neither a professional fighter nor he had any real fighting experience from his previous life, he only depended on his instincts and followed what his body told him to do so far.

Following his body and instincts works most of the time, but the lack of experience didn't let him to relax his mind or his body when he's fighting because Matthew still didn't have the capabilities to predict his opponents' movements properly and give the perfect reaction to counter it.

Matthew's fighting style so far, relied on his pre-planning and strategy before the fight even began. His ability to camouflage and the complete invisibility he got from the aura ability also helped him a lot in covering up his lack of fighting experience.

Without using camouflage or invisibility, that means Matthew had to fight his enemies head-on. The first time it happened is when Matthew fought the deer after his first evolution, and he almost got his body broken by being thrown by the deer, and if he was unlucky and landed on a rock instead of the soft dirt ground, there's a high chance of his bones or joints breaking.

And that's only when he fought a deer, if it was a wolf, then Matthew was surely done for.

'Well I mean, my current species, body, and ability are designed for ambushing my opponents right? It would be foolish of me if I don't use my abilities to their fullest potential to make my enemies look like a fool themselves.'

'But learning how to fight without the abilities is not impossible and it will be good for me just in case those abilities didn't work for some reason. And my current body is already significantly stronger compared to the one after my first evolution.'

'I guess I'll do that then since I have nothing better to do besides eating before my third evolution.'

By the time Matthew had finished following his train of thoughts, he already finished eating 2 monkeys. Just like what he had guessed before, Matthew felt like he could fit 1 to 1,5 more monkeys into his stomach, but he remembered that there are two crocodiles left waiting to be eaten back at home, so he decided to only eat two so that tonight he could finish eating 1 whole crocodile.

With his objectives fulfilled and his stomach partly filled, Matthew then decided to go back home to his nest and rest for the day and directly went to sleep after he finished eating 1 crocodile later at night.

With abundant food storage, Matthew didn't need to hunt anymore for the next week, but that doesn't mean Matthew intended to just slack off and didn't do anything.

For the next few days, he woke up in the morning, ate his meals, trained his aura ability, especially the wolf's aura ability because he wasn't able to activate the wolf's aura ability as effortlessly as the chameleon's.

Matthew also tried figuring out how to 'recreate' the aura ability without actually activating the ability only by manipulating the aura. But so far, he still didn't even understand the basics of it and made no progress at all in that regard.

Matthew also trained his ability to fight without using his aura ability and camouflage, by fighting with the deers head-on only using his physical strength. Matthew found it hard at first because there are 4 deers and when he attacks 1 of them, the rest will not stay idle and it forces him to play hit and run a little.

But after getting used to their tempo and Matthew started to be comfortable fighting without using an ambush tactic, he is able to cope with them rather easily. Especially with Matthew's amazing tongue being really amazing that it can control the deers' movement either by choking and leading them on their necks or even tripping them by pulling their legs.

Matthew only 'defeated' them and didn't kill them since he still got a lot of uneaten bionutrients from the pile of monkeys, and experience is the last thing that he needed from the deers. And luckily the deers are either smart enough or coward enough to run away after Matthew left a few deep claw marks on their bodies.

By the fourth day after Matthew massacred the monkey group, Matthew had already eaten all the remaining crocodiles back at his nest and 14 of the monkeys. Matthew wanted to eat the rest of the monkeys, but after the fourth day, Matthew's wolf nose already smelled something weird from the pile of monkeys and Matthew decided not to take any chances with the strong and mighty bacteria that he didn't have any chance of defeating right now and decided to just say,

'I'm sorry, I did my best, but eight of you are still being left uneaten with one of you disappearing out of nowhere. But don't worry since I can't eat 8 of you and there is no other animal that wants to take a bite, I will give you all to the plants and mother nature instead, thank you.' Matthew said before he dug a huge hole and pushed the monkey pile inside and covered up the hole back with dirt.

After that, Matthew went back home and practiced his aura ability once again. His wolf aura ability is getting easier to activate and it only took him about 5 to 10 seconds now which means that his training had paid off. But he is still completely clueless about recreating the aura ability by only controlling it and it makes Matthew's mood a little bit down.

'But I still have a lot of time for that, and now for the moment that I've been waiting for…'

Matthew went inside his nest, blocked up the exit with crocodile bones, then he said in his mind,

'System, Evolve!'
