Right after Matthew gave the ogre guard his reply, the ogre guard lunged forward with his spear pointed directly at Matthew's chest. Seeing this, Matthew didn't panic even for a little bit as he had already fully prepared himself for anything that might happen. And a straight, forward spear thrust is one of the few moves that he had expected the ogre guard would do. He then just stood still while the ogre guard was running towards him.
Timing it so that he would only move his body at the last moment just before the spear was about to touch his body, Matthew tilted his body and completely dodged the ogre's forward thrust.
