'Ugh! That was one disgusting dream!' Reina cringed when she recalled what her dream had entailed.
A scary man leering at her, the memories of a new world and new people, a servant who had died with just a snap of the scary man's fingers.
Her eyes flashed with these scenes and she shuddered at the thought of such a scary yet absurd incident ever occurring in real life.
'I am glad that it was just a dream.' She sighed and slowly blinked her eyes open.
However, the white ceiling she laid her eyes upon brought a dreadful sense of deja vu to her.
This made her shut her eyes once again, hoping that the ceiling would be daisy yellow when she opened them back up.
'Son of a b-' She cursed when the result was the same bland white ceiling from earlier.
Reina clutched her head and tugged on her long silver hair when she realized that what she had witnessed was not a dream as she had been hoping.
Instead, it was the cold harsh reality of her new life in this new world.
She was now Rein Melk, the woman who pretended to be a man before the King.
'That man disintegrated someone because she wronged him so what would my fate be when he realizes that his Chamberlain had been deceiving him all along!?' She fretted about her future in this world.
If that maid ended up as a few splotches of blood, will Reina be fortunate to at least have that?
'What if he disintegrates me down to the very atoms?' She gulped at the thought that not even her blood would be found if that ever were to happen.
Her brain was filled with terrible thoughts of how she would end up if her secret of being a woman was ever found out.
Shaking her head furiously, she refused to end up that way at all costs!
'I only have two options now.' She realized as she sat up in bed.
The first option was to find a way out of this mess, which most probably would be by running away from the Palace.
Escaping from the King's side before her secret could be discovered was one option but right now it would not be possible.
She had just occupied this body and though she had its memories, they were only being triggered at the moment that she was experiencing them in real life.
When she met the King, she recalled his identity and hers as well.
When he called her a man, she remembered that in everyone's eyes, Rein Melk was a man and nothing else.
When she struggled with the fitted sheets, she miraculously knew how to get the work done.
When she met the two beautiful ladies in the dining hall, she was able to tell their identity.
Thus, she was sure that unless she met and experienced the same things as the previous Rein, the memories in her brain would not be triggered.
This left major chunks of unfilled gaps in her brain that needed to be completed and that was possible only by doing the things that Rein did, living her life.
Since the option of escaping was a no-go for the time being, she could only fall back to the second option.
'I need to make sure that my secret is not discovered until I figure out a way to escape.' She declared that the second option was the most plausible one for now.
Thankfully, this was in correlation to the first option as by living her daily life as the King's Chamberlain she could unlock the memories and thus find a way to escape this Palace.
Therefore, Reina came to the conclusion that she needed to continue with her daily routine until she had her memory gaps filled after which she could make her grand escape.
'That's it then!' She was ready with her plan of action until she could recall all the memories of this body.
*Knock*
The sudden knock on the door interrupted her thoughts, making her look up.
Before she could answer, the door was pushed open which made her look down at her clothes in a panic.
'Oh thank God! I am still clothed.' She cheered for the uniform that still remained on her body.
Glancing back at the door, she noticed the man named Treegan Molt entering her bedroom from the main door with another man in tow.
"Oh, you woke up already?" Treegan rolled his eyes the moment he saw the young man seated on the bed.
'Rude!' Reina scowled at him which made him narrow his eyes at her.
"Doctor, check this frail young man who fainted at the sight of a little blood." The King's aide directed the old man towards the bed while mocking Rein at the same time.
However, Reina did not retort to his snarky words but fell into deep thought after hearing what he had just said.
As the doctor took a look at the young man seated on the bed, the same 'man' was recalling what had happened earlier.
__
Reina recalled the moment she had watched how the maid was happy that she was granted pardon.
However, in the next moment, a snap was heard before the same woman turned into a splatter of blood.
It was a blessing that she had not eaten anything or she would have hurled the entire contents of her stomach and the result would have been catastrophic if that had happened.
For the man who had caused the earlier fiasco would have been drenched with her projectile vomit and she too might have ended up just like the maid, in a pool of blood.
Thankfully, her stomach was empty and her body had just gone limp after witnessing that gruesome scene from earlier.
She could feel her vision blurring before her body fell sideways.
Strong arms wrapped around her waist and that was the last of her memory before she blacked out.
__
'I must have been brought back to the room.' She surmised but the details of how she was brought here were irking her.
Coming back from her trip down memory lane, Reina glared at the man who was standing at a distance from her bed.
"Did you touch me earlier?" She gritted her teeth as she disliked people getting too close to her.
A true germaphobe with a mild case of mysophobia, she abhorred when people got into her personal space.
She was sure that the arms she had felt belonged to this man which also implied that he was the one who brought her back to this bedroom before he headed out to fetch the doctor who was now by his side.
Sensing the animosity coming from her, Treegan raised his brows in amusement.
'The rat is surely growing up.' He scoffed while addressing the servant man with the same name that many in the Palace used.
Undeterred by his scoff, Reina continued to glower at him.
"So you want me to let you drop to the floor when you lose consciousness the next time?" Treegan snickered as a devilish smirk appeared on his face when he thought of how frail and weak the other man was.
The doctor who was stuck in the conflict between the two individuals felt a headache arising when he saw their childish argument growing bigger with each passing second.
Glancing at Treegan, the old doctor sighed then turned his eyes to the patient on the bed.
"Mister Melk, you need to stop straining your body and let me take a look at you." He chided the young man who was making things difficult for him.
Reina first glowered at Treegan who was enjoying the sight of her being scolded then turned to the doctor with a pleading smile.
"I feel fine, Sir. You do not have to bother about it." She nodded vigorously just to prove her point.
'What if he has a stethoscope and tries to check my breathing?' She chuckled awkwardly as his hands would first reach to her chest which she needed to hide at all costs.
According to her research, since she landed up in this body, she had understood that though her breasts were easy to make out no one had caught sight of it.
It was as if they were in plain sight yet invisible to everyone else.
However, she could not risk the chance of the doctor touching her which might make him realize that she had breasts thus exposing her true gender to him and everybody else.
"Young man, I cannot disobey the King's commands at all costs." The doctor shook his head in stern rejection of Rein's pleas.
"But I'm alright…" She continued with her attempts to keep her secret safe.
This half-spoken statement made the physician narrow his eyes as he leered at the man sitting before him.
"And what makes you think that you are alright?" He harrumphed at the younger generation who took things too lightly.
'I fainted because I saw that maid being turned into a bloody mush.' Reina shuddered at the thought of what had caused her to faint.
However, the doctor had other thoughts as he raised the pale young man's hand and pointed at his nails.
"Look! You have clear signs of being poisoned and you still say that you are alright?" He reprimanded Rein while checking his pulse at the same time.
These words struck her like lightning as she widened her eyes at the doctor's diagnosis just after taking a look at her hands.
