Chereads / Tricking The Vampire King / Chapter 63 - Haste And Greed

Chapter 63 - Haste And Greed

To purchase a house in a remote town of the Kingdom, she would need only a few hundred silver, and the further away from the Capital she was, the cheaper the real estate became.

Thinking of the places she could move to, Reina grinned like an idiot while caressing those two cards.

The black card with the 'M' on it had been disregarded as right now, she was doting on the other two cards that would be useful for her future endeavors.

___

King Zander had just completed going through the documents on his table when he heard the strange chuckles and giggles coming from the other side of his room.

He did not even have to think of who the person behaving like a fool might be as he was sure that this voice belonged to his chamberlain.

This made him wonder what could have caused Rein Melk to be in such a grand mood, enough to make that gloomy young man laugh?

However, he soon shook his head and stretched his stiff body before walking out of the room.

It was time for him to deal with a few matters outside the Palace so without wasting any more time on that man, King Zander summoned Treegan and the two disappeared without a trace.

___

Reina lifted her head when she sensed the sudden flow of energy that had been emitted from the King's personal office.

She was now in the body of a vampire and it was easy for her to make out such things even if she did not pay attention to it.

Among the numerous people in the Palace, she was most familiar with the King, Treegan Molt, and Doctor Bundt.

She had interacted with them the most and thus had a good idea of their presence.

Each vampire had a distinct sense of presence so making use of it, she was able to deduce that the two sources of energies she had felt belonged to those two powerful men.

Breathing a sigh of relief, she plopped on the bed without worrying about another thing.

With the King and Treegan gone, she could relax and not be concerned about keeping up appearances before them.

Thus, in no time, Reina had fallen asleep because the fatigue in her body had overwhelmed her.

She had not yet realized it but forcing those memories to be triggered was the cause of this sudden fatigue and it would only intensify with time.

There was a natural order to how things progressed and if she continued to attain something ahead of its designated time then she would have to bear the consequences for her haste and greed.

However, Reina had no clue that she had just tired herself out by triggering those excess memories forcefully.

Thus, with the two cards still clutched close to her chest, the tired chamberlain had fallen asleep right where she was.

There were home clothes scattered all across the floor which she had tossed out while looking for the box with the bank cards.

That same box was now on the bed along with those erotic books which her predecessor had kept hidden all along.

If someone were to enter this room right at this moment then they would witness the horrendous sight of a messy room with its messier owner snoring away on the bed.

While Reina had fallen asleep in her uniform which was meant to conceal the fact that she was a woman, there was only so much that those clothes infused with amplification magic could do.

The magic worked when she wanted it to and at present, Reina was in no state to maintain her perception magic which went hand in hand with the magic present in these clothes.

Therefore, right now, if someone were to walk in and observe the chamberlain minutely, they would surely find something odd.

Reina's heaving chest was perfectly outlined and her wide hips were evident as well.

It was a good thing that she had locked both the doors before she had started investigating her predecessor's belongings.

Due to this, no one would be able to witness the sight of the chamberlain with a feminine body sleeping in the midst of the mess on the bed.

___

By the time King Zander had returned to the Palace, the sky was already dark and night had befallen the Kingdom of Valanthur.

The two ladies who were his Queen candidates were locked in their rooms as punishment so he did not have anyone to accompany him for dinner.

To remedy this situation, he had already eaten outside and thus had come home later than what he had expected.

When he entered his room, he had thought of summoning his chamberlain to help him change and prepare a warm bath for him.

However, the sounds of steady breathing and soft snores reached his ears which halted him in his steps.

According to Doctor Bundt, the chamberlain's life was no longer in danger but it looked like he was still too exhausted which the King presumed to be the sequela of the poisoning incident.

Thus, for once, he was considerate enough and instead, called for his other aide.

Before Rein had popped up, it was Treegan's duty to assist the King so he was overjoyed to have received the same honor after almost eight years.

He thus rushed over and hastened to prepare everything according to the orders given to him by his Master.

While he ran around the room, he too could hear those snores coming from the other room but instead of cursing Rein for being lazy, Treegan was rather happy about the other servant's slacking attitude.

This way, he could help his Master again and who knows, he might even manage to kick Rein out for good someday.

However, Treegan did not dare to let his thoughts appear on his face and hurried to complete the tasks he had received.

The King had already stated that he had seen potential in Rein and thus had kept him by his side.

Therefore, despite his obvious displeasure, Treegan would abide by his Master's words and not hinder the plans that the King must have made.
