King Zander's eyes were quicker than Rein's to catch the expressions on the faces of those present here.
His golden eyes landed on the woman who was standing closest to him then on the maid who stood behind her.
'Pathetic.' He scoffed and strode ahead, nodding when the only man in the room bowed to him.
This man was none other than his trusted aide, Treegan Molt, to whom he had assigned a task earlier.
Treegan rose from his bow and frowned when his eyes traveled to the man who had accompanied the King.
'Why is he standing there like an idiot?' He sneered at the man frozen before the door.
Reina snapped out of her thoughts when she felt a glare coming from the side and glanced in the direction of the familiar face that she had seen in her memories as well.
'The King's right-hand man, Treegan Molt.' She recognized him with a single glance.
The man was gesturing for her to move in his direction so she did as he had suggested.
Reina felt tiny when standing next to the man known as Treegan who was a whole foot taller than her.
She could sense hostility coming from him and according to her memories, this was a common occurrence so she chose to ignore him and focus on the King and the two beauties who stood before him with their respective maids.
Treegan was furious as he grit his teeth upon realizing that this stupid servant was treating him like air.
'I will teach you a lesson later, Rein Melk!' He scoffed and looked away as well.
Back at the table, King Zander had already taken his seat at the head of the table but the women remained standing.
They could not sit until they received the nod from the King which he had not yet given to them.
Thinking of the information he had received from his aide's report, King Zander felt indignant and chose to let them remain standing.
"Brother Zander, my feet hurt!" The other woman who was also present here whined when she saw that he had not allowed them to sit yet.
Reina's attention moved from the King to the young woman with gorgeous tanned skin, sleek olive eyes, and vibrant brown curly hair.
'Why are all the women here so pretty?' She wondered and glanced at the King, sure that he would be smitten by such a beautiful face.
However, contrary to her beliefs, King Zander shot the pretty lady a languid glance before nodding his head.
Having been granted permission, the two women sat down and their maids remained standing behind them.
"How was your sleep, My King?" A sickeningly sweet voice came from the same woman who had narrowed her eyes at Rein earlier.
If the earlier woman had a coquettish tone of voice then this woman was certainly using a seductive tone.
King Zander nodded but did not answer her which impressed Rein.
'He has excellent self-control.' She praised the man who was indifferent while interacting with such beautiful women.
The woman with pink hair who sat next to the King had perfect curves and an elegant face.
Combined with the way she spoke earlier, Rein could guess that they had an unusual relationship with the King.
However, it appeared as though she wasn't favored much by the King as he had not even bothered to reply to her question.
Searching her memories, Reina found the names of the two women who were seated at the table with the King.
'Marin Zolvak and Amaira Omarun.' She glanced at the lady with the pink hair then at the curly brown-haired woman.
From what she remembered about them, these women were the candidates selected to fill the position of the Queen who would stand by the King and rule this land with him.
'There should be three candidates…' Reina recalled and her eyes scanned the room but she could not find the third.
Treegan had been fixing his eyes on Rein and when he found the young servant boy looking around, he punched him in his side as punishment for being distracted.
Reina gasped out loud when she was smacked right in the ribs, clutching the area that hurt like hell right now.
Turning her eyes in her assailant's direction, she glared while gritting her teeth in pain.
"Are you out of your mind!?" She snarled at him, though in a whisper to not anger the scary King.
Treegan was shocked to hear these words laced with suppressed fury coming from the servant standing beside him.
'So the shy boy has finally grown some wings, huh?' He sneered at his opponent who did not have the thought of backing down.
"That's enough from you two!" A loud voice commanded which succeeded in halting their minor confrontation.
Reina and Treegan both turned in the direction of the voice only to find the King glaring at them with those glowing golden eyes.
The two lowered their heads in a plea for forgiveness from the man and sighed only when they found him turning away.
With his head still lowered, Treegan glowered at Rein for getting him in trouble with the King.
'You started it, you dumbfu-' She controlled her vicious tongue which would spew obscenities whenever it felt like it.
When the servants quietened down, King Zander turned his attention to the meal that had been placed before him.
While Amaira, the curly-haired woman was relishing the most important meal of the day, the same could not be said for Marin, the one with pink hair.
Marin's hands were slow as she forced herself to eat and tried her best not to look at the man with silver hair standing next to the King's trusted aide.
With breakfast ending just like that, Reina pouted that not only was she reprimanded by the King because of that fool Treegan but she also had to bear this grievance on an empty stomach.
The aroma of a scrumptious meal that had been placed only a few feet away from her was wafting into her nose but she could not have a single bite of it.
'Why did I have to become a servant?' She stomped her feet like a child about to throw a tantrum.
Thanks to her subtle actions, only Treegan who stood next to her had observed this while the rest were oblivious about her behavior.
'Why is he trying to act cute?' The King's aide narrowed his eyes at the man who was behaving like a child being starved when he noticed how Rein was now clutching his belly with a frown.
However, thinking of something else, his eyes darkened and he decided to report this to the King soon.
Once breakfast had ended, the King remained seated but the women were ready to leave.
Amaira smiled at the King and bowed but before she could take a single step, she was stopped in her tracks.
"Have you been working on anything recently?" King Zander interrogated which made her turn around and face him.
Amaira's eyes flitted in Marin's direction who refused to look at her.
"Umm…" She stalled while playing with the handkerchief in her hand, melting Rein's heart with her cute appearance.
"Do I look like I have all the time in the world?" Zander was not so appreciative of her adorable behavior as his eyes flashed with danger.
Flinching at his words, Amaira pouted and nodded her head in answer to his earlier query.
"Sister Marin's maid requested me to create something for her." She revealed while glancing at the maid behind Marin who was now trembling in fear.
"She said that she had to take care of a rat infestation." She concluded her part in this matter.
If King Zander was annoyed with her delayed answer earlier, now he was furious after hearing her words.
However, she was not to be blamed as she had only repeated what she had heard from Marin's maid.
"You may leave." He waved his hand and in an instant Amaira fled the room along with her maid.
Left in the dining hall were Marin and her maid whose faces were as pale as a ghost.
'Now that looks like the face of a Vampire from the movies!' Reina nodded that finally, something was according to her knowledge about vampires.
"Explain yourself," Zander uttered while turning his attention to the woman who was one among those he would have to choose as his Queen in the near future.
However, before Marin could open her mouth, the maid standing behind her fell to her knees with her face aimed at the floor.
"Pardon, your Majesty! It was all my doing and Madame had no knowledge about my actions!" She cried out, startling Reina who was having a hard time trying to make sense of what was happening here.
