Reina's eyes widened at the sight of the man coming right at her which made her body move subconsciously and she dodged to the side in the nick of time.
Doctor Bundt's target had rolled out of the way which left him with no one to obstruct the leap he had made after utilizing an excessive amount of unnecessary strength due to his abrupt enthusiasm.
Thus, once Rein moved out of his path, the old man flew across the bed and with a loud thud, fell face-first on the ground.
Reina watched with the same widened eyes from her perfect vantage point, the spot where she had landed after dodging, as the old physician traversed mid-air, over her neatly made bed, and finally landed with his face on the ground.
A pained groan slipped past the old man's lips, snapping her out of her daze about the sight that she had just witnessed.
The image of the man flying across her bed was seen in slo-mo thanks to her keen sense of vision but even if she could have, her body made no movement to pull him to safety before he fell.
Therefore, right now, the old man sat right there on the floor where he had landed face first and turned in Rein's direction while rubbing his injured nose.
"Lad, why did you move?" He grumbled as a shooting pain was beginning to radiate from his rapidly-swelling nose.
Reina could not reveal the truth, which was that she was afraid he could come in contact with her breasts if they hugged, exposing her true gender in the process.
This had been why she had moved on instinct and dodged his hug.
Therefore, she used the other cause which was equally important to her.
"I do not like it when people get too close to me." She explained and the disgust that flashed across her eyes made the Doctor sigh.
'So he dislikes close contact?' The old man did not argue any further upon understanding his issue.
While Reina stood on the side of the bed where she had been seated until now, the physician now was back on his feet on the other side where he had fallen due to his overly exciting actions.
"Forgive me for getting too close without your permission." He apologized as he had assumed that it would be alright to do so but it turned out that he was wrong.
He was a physician so he understood the issues that others might have and instead of forcing his views on the young man, he decided to respect Rein's choices.
'Better not to get on his wrong side.' He added as he wished to utilize Rein's aid in his experiment which would not be possible without his cooperation.
He needed Rein's support and he could not do it without his permission.
Thus, the old man did not wish to go against him in any way or form.
He doubted if he would be able to find another vampire with the same level of purity that Rein Melk possessed and at the same time, he did not wish to wait until he could find the next one.
With this thought in his mind, he did not find fault with Rein even if his nose was hurting more than it should.
On the other hand, Reina sighed when she saw that the old man's red nose wasn't seriously hurt or bleeding.
'He's a vampire so it should heal in no time.' She recalled and decided to get to the important matter at hand.
Earlier, she had just begun her statement when this old man had interrupted her by almost pouncing on her.
Therefore, now was the chance to get back to the conversation that they could not complete.
"I have conditions if I am going to be your test subject." She made her intentions known loud and clear.
Before he could interrupt her again or say something that might distract her, she had revealed exactly what was on her mind by using precise words to eliminate any scope of misunderstandings.
Doctor Bundt was a little taken aback by this stern statement coming from the young man.
However, he did not show any dissatisfaction with him and only waited to see what these conditions could be.
The pills that he had created had waited long enough for the perfect test subject to come along and now was their chance to shine.
To let his creations have the ideal circumstances that they deserved, he would be willing to do whatever he could.
If the conditions that Rein put forth weren't too absurd and were something that he could fulfill, then he most certainly would comply with the young vampire's wishes.
Seeing that he wasn't against it right from the start, Reina nodded as she began to disclose what her conditions were.
"First, I would like to see the research that you had done before you created this new pill." She declared and was not willing to negotiate on this condition.
'Well, every condition is non-negotiable.' She coughed but did not reveal this to him.
Since Reina had an educational background in science, mainly focusing on zoology, she felt that she would be able to comprehend what she was getting herself into after looking over his research files.
Not to mention that her predecessor's memories pertaining to the blood pills and information related to it had been triggered during her conversation with the physician.
Thus she was now a lot more knowledgeable about this matter than she was at the beginning of their interaction.
Deeming this condition to be reasonable and not too irrational, Doctor Bundt nodded in agreement.
Reina's lips curved into a slight smile before she headed to the next one on her list.
"My work should never be affected due to either acting as your test subject or by consuming the pill itself." She uttered the condition which she was most anxious about.
She knew that this man was loyal to the King and hence, she had used King Zander as her shield without an ounce of guilt.
If her work as his chamberlain got affected during this trial period of Doctor Bundt's new pill then it would be his life on the line.
With this condition, she not only reminded him that the one he would have to answer if something were to go wrong would be the King but also safeguarded her life and health at the same time.
Doctor Bundt's back straightened after grasping what the young vampire was hinting at.
Therefore, he nodded in quick approval as he would do nothing to hinder Rein's work and also make sure that his pills had no adverse effect on him.
Thus, Reina moved to the next condition, ignoring the widened eyes of the Doctor whose expressions revealed that he was surprised with the existence of more conditions.
Reina was the daughter of a true capitalist who had taught her that making sure to get more than what you give was the right thing to do.
Since she was lending her body for research then she should be able to gain more than what she put in.
Therefore, she did not think that she was asking for much as she only had two more conditions and they were the easiest of them all.
"In the case that your new pill works out as you said that it should and passes the trial period you will set up…" She began after a brief pause.
Doctor Bundt raised his chin in defiance as he was willing to bet his beard that his pill would be a grand success once he was done testing it.
"Which it will!" He declared with certainty, complete faith in his creation.
Reina nodded, hoping for the same as that would be in favor of her next condition.
"IF it succeeds then I, as the vital test subject, should be privy to a lifetime supply of your pills." She put forward her shameless condition without blinking an eye.
Her condition was basically to exploit the poor old man who claimed that his pill would succeed for sure.
Therefore, once he was done testing the pills on her, he would have to give Rein Melk a steady supply of his pills as an expression of his gratitude for taking part in the experiment.
Doctor Bundt choked after hearing this as he had not expected this to be one of the conditions in a thousand years.
A normal vampire would use a bottle of blood pills over the course of a few years but in Rein's situation, it would not be a surprise if he would run out within a week.
The burden of preparing a steady supply of pills for the young vampire who would live for many more years to come would be great.
Therefore, Reina did not urge him to agree and gave him time to mull over it.
However, as she had thought before, she was not willing to negotiate on any of her conditions, and every single one of them needed to be fulfilled.
