Night comes, a hard day's labour ends, and she simply walks home, not bothering to take the bus as her place of work wasn't exactly far from her apartment down the street. Ten to fifteen minutes tops, and she would be home.
But nooo, she just had to take the shortcut which was a dark alley instead of the usual streets with translucent lights that flickered rhythmically each time she walked by.
Out of breath, she have no idea where her legs were taking her, but she simply ran and ran from whatever it was that chased after her.
Most certainly, the brunette understood, it was not human.
She fled with every inch of her life, beads of sweat dripping down her face and exposed neck like a broken fountain, chest heaving at an intense pace with each step she took. She could barely see, but she recognized the chained gates in her path, well, after crashing painfully into it.
