"Do you have everything packed?"
"Yes, dad."
"Do you have a lot of food and snacks for emergency cravings?"
"Yes, dad."
"Are Michael and Isaac mentally, physically, and emotionally prepared to handle you during your pregnancy on your trip?"
"Dad, everything is going to be just fine."
I watch my father pace back and forth in room to the point where he has created a faint trail from where he has been walking. Ray and my grandfather, Aspen, along with the other former Vessels watch from outside the room with the doors cracked open.
"I'm just so worried that something might happen to you while you're out." My father finally stops right in front of me and forms a block of ice under the blanket I am sitting on so that he can look me in the eye. "If Michael or Isaac fail to protect you, you better tell them that I will use up every single last bit of my spirit energy to come down there and beat the living shit out of them."
