After having a heart-to-heart conversation with Joyce, Damien walked back to his room.
And the moment he closed the door, he missed Ariel.
He leaned his back on the door and closed his eyes. And he thought to himself, "I didn't even get to properly ask how she was… I wanted to embrace her…"
His heart ached again when he recalled the state that Ariel was in. He recalled how helpless he was. He hated the fact that he wasn't able to do anything to help her. And though he appreciated how she cared for him, he hated that she put him before herself and gave the healing pill to him.
"Why would you do that, Ariel?" he wanted to ask her but mumbled to himself.
He gently slammed his head against the door and asked in a painful whisper, "What if your grandfather didn't come down here? What if something had happened to you? Something irreversible? I wouldn't have been able to live with myself, knowing that you sacrificed yourself for me."
