Piper's POV
I am so happy that my wife is coming home with me. All those worrying are gone.
I reach over and grab Alex's hand while my other hand is on the steering wheel. She smiled at me.
"We're almost home". I felt her squeeze my hand.
"How are you feeling?".
"I'm excited to be home and I'm also nervous". Alex, then started chewing her lower lip. That's one sure sign that she's anxious. I rub circles with my thumb on her hand to help her relax. After a few seconds I felt her loosen her grip.
"It's going to be fine". I assured her.
I let go of her hand and turn the car in our drive way, I parked right infront of our house. I turned the engine off and I pick up my bag. I open my car door and step outside. Just then I heard my phone ring and when I look at the caller ID It's my new assistant.
"Hello?".
"Hey, Miss Chapman, this is Callie".
"Hi, Yes Callie, is everything okay over there? And Please call me, Piper".
"Okay Miss Cha-....Piper, Yes! everything is going well here, you have nothing to worry about. I just want to let you know that there's a package here for you".
"Oh yes, that's for my office. Can you please put that on my table".
"Yes sure, Miss Piper, Ma'am. No problem". I am smiling at her politeness.
"It that everything?".
"Yes Ma'am".
"Okay Callie, Thank you for letting me know. Bye".
I hung up the phone and I couldn't stop smiling about my new assistant.
"I'm sorry babe, that was my new assist-...". I turned to look at my wife but she's not anywhere near me. And then I notice she's still inside the car. Staring at our house.
I open her car door and I peaked inside. "Hey, what's wrong?".
It took Alex, a couple of seconds to answer me.
"I-I just can't believe I'm finally here with you and we have our own house, a nice car. You and me together again".
I took her hand and pull her out of the car.
"We'll go inside together". I told her smiling. We walk to the front door.
I fish out the keys inside my bag and open the door.
I heard Alex, took a deep breath and I hold her hand and we walk inside together.
Alex, is looking around the house taking in her surroundings.
"It feels different being in here now, I know you showed me the pictures of the house before. But it looks even prettier in person".
I watch Alex, walk over to the side table and pick up a rusty metal candle holder I found in a garage sale. She held it up and look at me with her eye brows arching up.
"I thought we should only have things in our house that spark joy". She said sarcastically.
"This doesn't spark joy to me".
"Hey!". I walk over to her and grab the candle holder from her hand and put it back in its place.
"This is antique". I told Alex.
"No, that is not antique that is one depressed looking candle holder and it scream Tetanus to me".
"Okay, enough of this. I'll show you outside. Come one". I pulled Alex, towards the back of the house and I open the glass door.
"Wow! This is really beautiful". Alex, said mesmerized by the view outside our house. We have a nice patio and a large lawn. You can hear the stream at the end of our property.
I sneak behind Alex, and wrap my arms around her waist. I kiss the back of her neck and we just stand there for a little while. I feel contented just by standing there and holding my wife.
"Let's get you inside so you can have a proper rest". I told Alex, after a few minutes.
