Chapter 9 - Lunchtime

His eyes looked so fierce and beautiful at the same time.

Excuse me Mr Andrea I said while I waved at him.

Oh yes, yes Laura I got distracted for a bit.

A lady dressed like a house keeper came into the room and whispered some words to his ear and left.

Join me for lunch Laura, he said

Oh Andrea thanks a lot but I'm okay.

At that time the worms in my belly were already crying for food, but I thought it might be unprofessional to have lunch with a client in his house on our first meeting, I didn't want to seem unserious because I was warned strictly not to mess things up but at the same time I was damn hungry it was already past lunch time and I didn't have breakfast either.

Maybe a little push might make me change my mind I thought to myself keeping a straight "I don't care" face.

Trust me you'll enjoy it, just try and see. I hired the best of cooks so food never goes wrong in this house so I insist, he said.

Okay Mr Andrea I'll try since you insist, I said and smiled with relief.

He ushered me into the dining room, it was so big, almost the space of my entire apartment.

The furniture was gold plated like those in palaces, it was a long circular table with a king size chair at one end and then normal dining sit size round about it. A bright and very colorful chandelier added beauty to the room, it came down in sets to almost right above our heads that one could stretch their hands and touch it. The light gave the table sparkles.

He took his sit and I took one too.

The table was almost covered with food and lots of fruits, there was a buffet, lots of options and I wondered if there was an occasion or it was like that everyday because it was just us both in the dining room, I was astonished.

What about your family? I asked and broke the silence in the room.

I live alone, no wife or children yet.

You stay alone in this big house? I was shocked.

Well I stay with my employees and helps, they count too so I'm not totally here alone, he replied.

My phone beeped and it was a text from Helen

How's it going?

Omg it's so big? I replied

Big? What's big? What are you up to?

I mean his house, don't worry I'll be out soon and I'll drive straight to yours. I replied

Helen had become a good friend and I had a good relationship with her, most times we went out with the girls and other times we stayed in at her house or mine.

The food was so good and I uncontrollably had too much to eat.

Hmmmm this tastes so good, I said.

He just nodded in response.

I expected a reply like yeah I told you so or you would have missed this but he didn't say any of that.
