*i will stop posting diaries of Helen Barten, because I've been working on it for 10 years to make a whole new world with so many characters and plots, after my first 5 chapters were stolen, i decided to make a book and register it.
*i decided to make a new story just for this group.
Chapter 1
The boy
Today a new story is about to start, the main character this time is not what we usually see in most stories, he is not perfect, actually he's not even a good man!.
Mazin is a 29 years old man, he's not that tall, not handsome, he just look so average, he is the kind of people who you don't usually notice, he lives in small apartment with a roommate, he never pay the rent, also always eats his roommate food in the fridge, he lived all his life like this, leeching on others, never helped anyone, or even cared about anything in this world except himself, because of that he had no friends at all, and he also doesn't have a family, he's been alone all his life, so many times he wondered if he will die alone, even though he loves himself, he was depressed, very depressed actually, he felt empty inside, and very lonely, no one to talk to, everyone hates him and he knows that, no purpose in life, he felt lost and sad, he tried to commit suicide twice so far, and been rescued by his roommate, but seems soon he will try again because he have nothing to live for.
Sometimes something really small can do wonders, and also can change your life forever, and that is exactly what happened today.
Mazin was walking slowly in his way to the restaurant he works in as waiter, he wanted to save some money so he woke up early to walk, the restaurant wasn't very far, its 40 minutes walking, even though it was early but the streets were full of people, so many going to schools and work, he watched them wondering how can they smile?, a pregnant woman was holding her son hand who is 3-4 yeats old, waiting for the bus, she was holding her son bag and she dropped it by mistake while sneezing when Mazin passed by, the woman said: please sir can you get the bag for me i cant bow, Mazin looked at her and with cold eyes he said: No, tell your son to get it, he continued to walk, why should he help her, those pregnant women want strangers to take care of them, like people dont have anything else to do, he thought, and kept walking, until he saw a dirty thin boy who looked like he is 14-16 years old, he was fighting with 2 men in small alley, the boy was holding a shoe brush and the man was pointing at his shoes saying: you expect me to pay for this poor bad job!.
Mazin looked at the man's shoes, it was sparkling, he understood that the man was trying to get his shoes cleaned for free, the boy was angry and said: please sir dont say its bad, i did my best to clean it, i need the money to feed my family,. HOW DARE YOU RAISE YOUR VOICE!. Shouted the man and he slapped the boy face, Mazin said to himself: life is hard, but these things need to happen to the boy so he will get stronger, he continued walking away, hearing the noises coming from the man hitting the boy, suddenly he started to remember when he was same age of this boy, he was orphan and escaped from the orphanage and started begging for money because all the shops refused to hire him because of his age, he also got beaten hard, he remembered how he felt, he really wished to be helped by anyone, he cried alot, Mazin shook his head, he doesn't want to remember, he stopped and went back to the alley, and he pushed the man who was hitting the boy, the other man attacked Mazin and both men started to hit him, but surprisingly Mazin wasn't weak, he was good at fighting, (i would say its because of his life as homeless when he was teenager), when the men saw how good he is, they pushed him and ran away.
Mazin helped the boy to stand up, he was beaten very hard, and a blood was coming out from his mouth, Mazin was surprised from himself when he took some money from his pocket and put it in the boy hand, the boy was looking at the money, when Mazin turned to walk to his job, when the boy suddenly said: please sir wait, he ran to Mazin and put something in his hand, Mazin checked what was in his hand, while the boy suddenly started to run away, it was a blue stone old necklace, he wanted to give it back but the boy already dissappeared, and he is going to be late, so he put the necklace in his pocket and walked as fast as possible.
The restaurant owner was in a very bad mood and threatened Mazin that he will fire him if he is late again, Mazin coworker asked him if he can cover the job for him, because he have to go to home early, but Mazin refused, because he was in fight so he is in bad mood, even if he was in good mood he wont help.
Mazin shift ended and he went back to his house and decided he will take fast shower and maybe sleep, when he was changing his clothes, he noticed that he was wearing the old blue stone necklace that the boy gave him, it was very weird
, he doesn't recall at all that he wear it, he was sure that he put it in his pocket, he wanted to take it off, but suddenly his stomach was feeling weird and he went to the bathroom, after he was done from the bathroom, he started wearing his house clothes, and when he wanted to take off the necklace, he felt like he was thirty, he went to get some water, and he went back to his bed, for some reason he was very sleepy now.
For the first time in many many years, Mazin had a dream, it was about an old lady, she was holding a wooden small box, he didn't see the old woman face, only her hands, like he was the old woman, there was also a middle aged man beside her, they were walking towards an old house, then they entered, the house was empty, and dusty, the man was talking to the lady: are you sure this place is safe?, yes no one comes here, everyone in this neighborhood thinks that this house is haunted, its been empty and abounded since i was kid, they walked towards a fireplace, the old lady bent down and removed one of the bricks, there was a hole behind it, she hid the box in the hole and put the brick back, how do you know about this hole?, asked the man, i used to play here as a kid. said the lady, the man said admiringly: you always been strong!.
Mazin woke up it was 2am, he drank some water and started to think about the dream, what was really weird is that the dream felt real, but he never seen this house, or this man, he was feeling hungry so he went to see what his roommate brought with him tonight, he checked the fridge, it was empty, its weird, his roommate used to get food every night, he went to check on him, his roommate wasnt home yet, it was really strange since he always comeback at 11pm, he called his phone, his roommate told him that he is sleeping in a friend's house, so Mazin went to the nearest food shop and ate, 1 hour later, he started to throw up, seems the food he ate wasn't good.
He spent the night in the bed feeling really tired and not able to move, until he fall asleep, this time he saw the boy that gave him the stone, the boy was cleaning someone's shoes, when he turned his head and said to Mazin: never take off the necklace.
Mazin woke up kinda scared, it was a shock for him to have 2 dreams in same night, it was 2 hours earlier than the usual time, he decided not to sleep, and looked at his necklace, he thought how weird it is, that whenever he wants to take it off something happens or he forget, and the boy himself asks him to keep wearing it, is he going crazy?.
He decided that today he will take a taxi, he barely slept and was really tired, he told the taxi to go to shira, and he slept, when they arrived the driver woke him up, and asked for more than the usual money, Mazin was surprised, but he was so tired to fight, so he paid, when he got out from the taxi, didn't close the door yet, he noticed the restaurant wasn't there, he asked the driver, where is shira restaurant??, the driver said: you said shira you never said restaurant, this place is called shira, Mazin asked the driver to drive him to shira restaurant, but the driver refused because he just had phone call and his wife was giving birth, he didn't even wait for Mazin to close the door, and started to move, Mazin was really angry and started to look around him to find another taxi when he suddenly saw something that made him open his mouth, it was the same house he saw in his dream!
Chapter 2
Things were happening so fast for Mazin, isn't it unbelievable coincidence?, yesterday he had the dream and today he is here in front of the house, he's been living in this city for so long, never heard of place named shira, he's going to be late, but since he's here, why not check out the house.
Mazin didn't know, and wouldn't even imagine that the taxi driver who drove him here, was under some kind of power, that made him drive to this place, nothing was a mere coincidence.
He entered the house, and it was exactly the same just like his dream, he walked to the fireplace moved the brick and found the box, he opened it and he was really shocked, in the box there was only a decorative piece of metal which usually used to decorate furniture or maybe windows, is this a prank??.
He was about to throw it, but he stopped, it does look cheap, but something about it might be valuable, after all the lady came here especially to hide it, is it made of gold maybe?, he needs money anyway so what he will lose if he checked it at the jewelry shop.
He went to his job, arrived really late, it took him long time to find another taxi, the manager was really angry that he is late, didn't i tell you yesterday that i will fire you if you are ever late again? But here you are 1 hour late, are you challenging me?!. The manger said
Mazin tried to explain how the taxi
Driver thought that he meant another place by shira, the manager was getting angrier and started shouting: WHAT DO YOU TAKE ME FOR? YOU THINK IM STUPID?! THERE IS NO PLACE IN THIS CITY CALLED SHIRA EXCEPT MY RESTAURANT! I KNOW THIS CITY LIKE THE BACK OF MY HAND! GET OUT!!.
He gave Mazin some money and told him that he doesn't want to see him ever again.
Mazin was walking back to his house really depressed, thinking how life is unfair, he even forgot he was still holding the small box in his hand, nothing matter anyway he was planning to end his life soon, so why not today, he went back to his house, his roommate wasn't there, what will be a fast way to die? he thought, i tried cutting my veins, then i tried to drink some clean liquid, both failed and hurt alot, maybe jumping from the roof might work, he went to the building roof, he was about to climb the wall when he recognized that he was still holding the box.
He threw it on the floor and started climbing when suddenly he had a vision of the boy he helped, telling him to stop.
Mazin woke up to find himself still in the roof, on the floor, he doesn't understand what happened, but he was sure so many hours passed while he is on the floor, because it was sunset now, he noticed that there was something under his hand, when he grabbed it to see, it was the box, he was sure he threw it to another direction, what is happening to him??.
He took the box with him to the house, he was hungry, he checked the fridge and there was some food, he ate then started to think, about the boy he keeps seeing, the blue stone, and the box, is he having hallucinations? What happened to him on the roof? How he was standing near the wall and when he woke up he was in another place in the roof?, is he crazy now? Should he go to see a therapist? But he cant even afford going to one, he is saving some money in case of emergency, like a really bad sickness, or for a time like this when he become jobless, he should focus now on getting another job, he decided to ignore all the weird things, its just his imagination.
When his roommate found out that he lost his job, he told him that already had enough, and started demanding his money, the rent that Mazin never paid, or to leave tomorrow, after all he was the owner of the house, he said that he was allowing him to stay out of kindness, and he wont tolerate it any more.
After packing his things, he was tired so he slept. he had a dream, this time he was in a forest, the boy was there, he looked at the boy and asked him who are you?, the boy said: I'm the sapphire stone.
how can you be a stone? you are a human, Mazin said.
The boy ignored what Mazin said and continued: never try to commit suicide any more, never take off the necklace, and never throw the box.
Mazin asked: what happened on the roof? how did i see you there?
The boy said: i had to stop you, you are the chosen one, you shouldn't waste your life like this.
Chosen by who and for what? Mazin asked
The boy said: chosen by me the stone, what for, that you will know about it in the right time.
Mazin woke up, it was already morning, he looked at his packed things, its not the time to think about other things.
He checked his phone to look for a good place to rent, he found a very cheap apartment, 2 room, bathroom and small kitchen, in a basement, he went there to check, it was dirty and smelly, but it was the cheapest one he can find in short time, so he took it and moved his things.
He spent 2 days unpacking his stuff and cleaning his new home, the place was better now, at least no dust or bad smell, he also bought a small bed and closet, he was feeling better actually because for 3 nights he didn't have any dream, even though he still cant take off the necklace.
He opened the box and took out the decorative metal piece from it, it's about the size of his hand, he placed it on a shelf in the other room since it was empty, maybe he will buy a sofa later, he thought.
He went to his bed and slept, when suddenly he heard the boy voice whispering: wake up. he woke up, checked his phone its 1am!, then went to the bathroom which it's door in the planned to be a living room, when he was done he walked back to his bed, when he suddenly saw a door on one of the walls of the living room, he was sure there wasn't a door here before, so he was surprised. The design was different from the other doors in the house, while checking it he suddenly noticed that the door was decorated with metal, the same design like the one he found in the box, he went to the shelf to get it, but there was nothing!
He searched everywhere for it, yet couldn't find anything, it must be a dream he said to himself, anyway maybe i should try to open the door, he said to himself, he tried opening the door, but it was locked, he searched for a key hole, but there was nothing, only a handle and few decorations, he touched everywhere, thinking that maybe the key hole was hidden, and again he found nothing, finally he thought it was pointless, and went back to his bed and fall asleep.
He woke up in bad mood, the dreams is back after 2 nights of not having any, he walked out from his room going to the kitchen to get some water, when he looked at the wall that had the door last night, there was nothing, and also looked at the shelf, the metal piece was there, its just a dream he said to himself, he really doesn't need any new crazy things.
He was lucky to get another job this fast, it was a big restaurant, and everyone seemed nice, he was told that he can start working tomorrow, he was really happy, even though the restaurant was kinda far from his place, but there was a a bus he can take, so everything was perfect, all he have to do now in keep ignoring all the weird things.
At 1am same thing happened like last night, he heard the boy voice telling him to wake up, he didn't even care to move, he said its locked anyway, but for his surprise, he heard the boy's voice again: help.
I already helped you, what else do you want from me?, asked Mazin.
But this time there was no response.
Next day Mazin went to start his new job, he met all his coworkers, they were cheerful and nice to him, but soon they will hate him like always, thought Mazin so no need to try to make any friends, one of the waitresses was dizzy and almost fall, the others told her to rest, but Mazin was upset, she should take better care of herself, better than troubling others, if she can't work then she should stay at home, but he didn't say anything to her, just ignored her and continued his work.
At night while he was sleeping, he had a dream, this time the waitress that was dizzy was in his dream, but not in the restaurant, she was in her house, she thanked a woman sitting near a bed, there was another old woman in the bed, she looked very sick, the woman left after she told the waitress that she will be back tomorrow morning so she doesn't have to worry about it, the waitress started to wipe the woman's forehead, then she said: don't worry mom, you will get better soon, im here next to you. She was nursing her mom, she woke up every half hour to check if her mom is ok and need any anything, it felt like a very long dream, until suddenly he heard the boy say: wake up, he knew it was 1am now, he ignored the boy and continued sleeping.
Chapter 3
Thank you
While Mazin was in his way to the restaurant, he couldn't stop thinking about the dream he had, is it real like the box when it was hidden in the fireplace?, only one way to find out, he should ask her about her mom, when he saw her in the work she looked really tired, the manager asked Mazin and the waitress to clean the toilets, they were alone there so Mazin asked her: is your mother sick? She looked surprised and said: yes, but how did you know, i didnt tell anyone. He said: just a feeling, you look tired.
Its okay dont worry, she had fever for 3 days so i had to nurse her, but thankfully this morning she was better, so i will get some sleep today. She said
He started to think, what does having a mother feels like?, it must be nice, i wish i had a mother too, then maybe my life would be better, she is lucky to have someone who cares for her, if he was in her place, he would have stayed all night for his mom too.
Sit down and rest, i will clean the bathroom. Mazin said
The girl tears started to fall down, then she said: thank you.
It was the first time someone thanked Mazin for real, not a compliment, but she really mean it, a nice feeling touched his heart, but still he was kinda annoyed that she cried, too much drama, its only a cleaning.
He didn't have any dreams that night, but at 1 am, he woke up, because of the boy, went to the bathroom, his mood was kinda better than usual, so he decided to check the door, nothing changed, it wont open, but there is something different, he feels like air coming from the door, he lit a candle and put it in front of the door, the air turned off the candle, he tried to push the door as hard as possible, but nothing happened, he turned the lights off and he saw a thin line of light coming from the door, so the door started to open? How? Why?, he really wanted to see what was behind this door, but after half an hour he decided to go back to sleep.
Next day, the waitress (Elena) brought a small paper bag with her, she gave it to Mazin, she told him its her secret recipe of cupcakes, he tasted some and it was amazing, he was really happy.
That night at 1am when the boy woke him up, he asked the boy how to open the door? The boy said: help., he went to check the door, but nothing happened, still like yesterday, why its still the same?, he kept thinking, and started to get hungry, so he took out the last cupcake and started eating it while looking at the door, suddenly he understood what he had to do, the door opened a little bit because he helped Elena, the boy wasn't ignoring him and he wasn't asking for help, he was answering the question, the door will open every time he help someone!!.
Thinking about it, it wasn't really bad helping Elena, she thanked him and brought delicious cupcakes, it was nice that someone doesn't hate him.
It might be wrong and stupid idea that helping others will open the door, but he will try, it will be bothersome but if it works, he will be able to open the door.
Mazin decided to try once again to help someone else to test if his theory is right, and for the first time he waa interested in people, watching his coworkers, if any need help, but nothing, he was disappointed, but he saw someone that looked troubled, it was his neighbor who lives in the apartment next to him, he was standing in front of his apartment door holding the key to open it, but not moving, Mazin asked him if there was anything wrong, the man said: it's nothing dont worry. Then he entered his apartment and closed the door.
That night Mazin had a dream, his neighbor was in office talking to a man, the man said: i had enough, I've been waiting for 3 months so far, when you intend to pay your dept? You have 1 week if you don't pay, you will go to jail.
The neighbor said: please sir, i lost my job, i need more time, I've been looking for new job for 3 months, just give me more time.
The man said: no, if we wait for everyone to pay what they owe us, we wont have any money to run the business, im already being generous giving you 1 week, now if you excuse me i have work to do, please close the door behind you.
The neighbor went back to his house, there was pile of papers, he grabbed one and started reading it, it was hospital bills, loads of bills.
Mazin woke up as usual at 1am, by the boy voice, he went to check the door but nothing changed, so he went back to his bed to sleep.
Next day after he was done with his job, he knocked his neighbor door, his neighbor opened the door, he looked kinda surprised, and said: yes?, Mazin said: may i come in?, oh yes, please come in. The neighbor said, and opened the door for Mazin to enter.
The apartment was exactly the same like the dream, Mazin grabbed one of the bills and started reading it, the neighbor said: sorry for the mess, i had a son, he was sick, and stayed for some time in the hospital.
You had? Mazin asked, he died 4 months ago.
Im sorry. Said Mazin, its ok, he went to a better place, would you like some tea?
Yes please. said Mazin.
Mazin was thinking about helping his neighbor, he had some money but its for emergency, and he know how money is important in this life, he's been leeching on others most of the time to save money, so to give it now, its really hard, and he still not sure if the door will open because he help others, so he thought at least he can help him find a job, he asked the manager of the restaurant, and he said that he needs a valet to park the cars of the customers, so at least a job will help.
Mazin told the neighbor that he have a problem, his manager asked him to find a guy for parking the cars, and he asked the neighbor if he knows anyone who can start working in few days, the neighbor was happy to accept the job.
That night Mazin had the same dream about his neighbor just like last night, and at 1am he went to check the door, it moved a little bit, so he was right!!!.
Mazin knew a job wasn't enough to solve the neighbor problem, he need money to pay his loan, so he decided to give him 1 thousand, its the best he can do, all he have is 3 thousands, so he can't give him more.
Next day he took his neighbor with him to the restaurant and he was accepted, and was told he can start tomorrow, he was veey happy and thankful, when Mazin went back to his house he took the money and went to visit his neighbor, when Mazin gave the money to the neighbor as a gift to celebrate his new job and to thank him for helping him to find a man for the job as the manager asked him.
The neighbor tears started falling, and said thank you, you might not know it but you just saved my life, i promise i will repay you.
For the second time something touched Mazin heart, he felt lighter for some reason.
Mazin started to help his coworkers and even some strangers, he had many dreams of different people, each time he helped someone, the door opened a little bit.
A whole month passed quickly, soon he will be able to enter, he was excited to go through, and for the first time he was popular, the coworkers even started to see him as friend, and his neighbor started to visit him frequently.
Mazin didn't think he really changed, he was just helping to open the door, it was very bothersome to him, he doesn't want people to depend on him, and he doesn't want friends who are there just because he helps them, but one thing really changed, he stopped thinking about suicide anymore, he was obsessed with the door, and want to know what is behind it.
Everything was going as planned until one day, when he was serving a customer, the customer suddenly said: beautiful stone, Mazin didn't understand so he said: excuse me?. The customer said: your necklace. Usually when Mazin wears his uniform he hide the necklace under his shirt, but it seems today he forgot to do so, so he hid it and said to the customer with fake smile: thank you sir. The customer said: i really like it, would you be interested in selling it to me?, i will pay you whatever you ask, my son birthday is soon and i want to get him present.
Im sorry sir, it's not for sale. Said Mazin, the customer said: even if i pay five thousand for it?, for five thousand Mazin can buy a nice used car, but he wont sell a stone that can show him true dreams of things that happened to people around him, Mazin said: sorry sir its very precious to me, not even for 1 million. The customer smiled and said: alright i can manage that, 1 million then.
Mazin was shocked, why would a customer offer 1 million for a cheap necklace?.
Chapter 4
The sapphire stone
Mazin didn't know what to say when the customer offered him 1 million, so the customer said: take your time, i will come again tomorrow, in case you want to sell, you will get the money cash in 2 days, dont rush and refuse its great offer. He also gave Mazin 100 teps.
It was really great offer, 1 million is not a small number, he can buy a good apartment in good place, nice new care, and open his own business, he wont have to suffer anymore.
There wasn't any garantee that what behind the door will be valuable, maybe it's something dangerous, all he can see from the door so far is trees, maybe its just in his mind, the stone and the door, so he should follow the reality not what he think he see, but there was a problem, he can't take off the necklace, no matter how he tries to, he always forget, and something happens, he must try a way to take off the necklace if he wants to sell it.
Even though, it was suspicious offer, like why would a man pay 1 million for cheap necklace, but he didn't want to think much, he didn't get anything from the necklace, only few dreams, ever since he had it and the box he couldn't sleep well, every night the boy woke him up at 1am, and keeps asking him to help others which is very bothering, a 1 million is much better no matter what.
That night Mazin dreamt about the rich old customer, he was young, he went to see his friend, his friend was wearing the same necklace with the blue stone, he told him about the stone how it show him dreams about people and a door that appears from a decorative metal piece, the customer didn't believe his friend and started to laugh, so his friend asked him to spend the night at his house, the customer checked the door, tried to open it, but his friend told him that it wont open no matter what, but he thinks that behind the door there is a treasure or something, he had the stone for 6 months so far and didn't manage to open the door, so he asked him to help him open the door, the customer asked his friend to give him some time to think about it, and promised he will do his best to help.
Mazin saw the customer came back to his friend house, and he brought some chocolate with him, his friend was so happy and thanked him for the chocolate, which seems to be his favorite, after they ate some chocolate, suddenly he fainted, the customer checked his friend pulse, took the necklace, then started wiping the table and he washed a glass of water he drank from, then he started to search for the metal piece, but before he manage to find it, he heard someone coming, so he ran away from a window, his friend was living in the first floor, while he was escaping, he heard a woman screaming from his friend house, he kept running for long time, and the surprise was, when he checked his pocket to get the necklace, it wasn't there.
At1 am as usual Mazin woke up, and went to check the door, he decided to think more about selling the necklace while looking at the door, he was really surprised to see the boy sitting on the floor waiting for him, he was even scared, the boy told him not to be scared, he doesn't want to hurt him, he just came to talk, Mazin asked him: who are you? Dont tell me you are the stone, i wont believe such things, the boy said: i came from behind this door, and he pointed his finger at the door.
What do you want from me? And dont tell me about being chosen i wont believe that too, said Mazin,
But you are the chosen, that's why you were given the sapphire stone. said the boy, chosen for what? asked Mazin, once you open the door, you will know, said the boy.
I had enough i will sell the stone. Said Mazin, the boy said: do you really intend to sell the stone to that killer, can you even trust him? are you sure he will pay for it?, listen behind this door, there is something beyond imagination, if you want money, we can make rich. who we?, asked Mazin, the boy dissappeared in front of him.
Mazin was really surprised, he couldn't sleep after that.
Next day the customer came back, Mazin told him that he doesn't want to sell it, the customer said: alright, thanks. And he left, Mazin didn't sell the necklace because he didn't trust him, but he was still thinking about selling it.
He went to jewelry shop and asked them to check the stone, of course while he was wearing it, the old man who checked the stone wanted Mazin to take it off so he can examine it, but Mazin refused, the man said: its sapphire alright, and its the best quality, would've worth a fortune, but it wont sell, that high.
Why not? Asked mazin, the bigger the gemstone, and the higher the quality the more money you earn, this gemstone cant be sold as a whole, there is something inside it, someone made a hole inside the stone, and put something there. Said the man
Mazin asked: what is the thing in the stone?.
The man answered: i cant tell now, but if you take it off i can check it better, but one thing i can say, whoever worked in this stone, is very crafty, anyway if you thinking about selling, only the outside will be used, so 50 thousand is good price for it.
Mazin thanked the man and went back to his house, not knowing that he's been followed, he entered the house, changed his clothes, and started thinking what could be inside the stone?, when his neighbor came to check on him, he told him that he felt that something was on his mind all day, because Mazin barely spoke to anyone, like he usually do, Mazin assured him that he is ok, he just got something to decide about, but its not a problem, so he doesn't have to worry, after the neighbor left, Mazin was thankful that he came to check on him, maybe now he doesn't have to think much about dying alone, anyway he should focus on helping people to open the door.
At 1 am Mazin woke up and checked the door to see the trees, the air was refreshing, he really want to explore that place, he thought.
Next day when Mazin finished his work, again he didn't notice that he was followed, after he went back to his house and rested, Mazin needed to buy some food, so he decided to go to near supermarket which have lots of offers, it was like 30 minutes walking from his house, when he closed his house door, his neighbor opened his door, and wanted to tell him something, but Mazin told him he is going to get some stuff, once he comes back, they can talk, so the neighbor told him that he will wait.
It was dark outside, while walking thinking that he might meet someone he can help, so trying to watch people, he didn't notice that a hands came out from a dark alley, the hands grabbed him fast into the alley, and before he check who was the person who grabbed him, something felt heavy fallen on his head, amd he lost consciousness.
When Mazin woke up he was in terrible state, he couldn't even move, it was morning already so he started shouting for help, until a man found him and called an ambulance, Mazin started to check his chest and neck with his hand, the necklace was gone, and when checked his pockets, everything was gone, his keys and wallet.
Mazin was admitted to a hospital, he was told he have to stay in the hospital for 3 days at least, and he was lucky his skull isnt broken, a policeman came and started asking Mazin questions about the attack, and told Mazin the was no cameras or any witnesses, also Mazin himself didn't see his face, so there is no way to identify the criminal, but there was some known thieves in that area, they will investigate and check if it was one of them.
And for the first time im a month or more, Mazin didn't wake up at 1 am, he was given some sleeping pills and had a meaningless dream about the customer, and the door, then Elena giving him more cupcakes, he woke up in bad mood, thinking about it, ever since he got the stone he barely woke up in bad mood like he used to before, and now he is back to the bad mood again, maybe the stone was making him feel better somehow?, anyway he shouldn't think about it, its already gone.
Chapter 5
Through the door
Next day he was told by the policeman, that someone tried to break into his house, but his neighbor caught him, and they got his stuff, once he is discharged he can come and take his things, after few days which Mazin spent it sleeping most of the time, he was discharged from the hospital, a policeman took him back to the house and opened the door for him, also took the money for the hospital bill to pay it for him, he was really nice guy and Mazin felt really thankful for all the help, the first thing he did once the policeman left is checking the decorative metal piece, if it was stolen then the customer is the one who attacked him, he felt better when he found it still in same place he left it.
Next day he went to the police station, received his wallet and keys, and his stone, it was the customer (Bartik) who attacked him and stolen his things, he was sitting there with his lawyer, the policeman asked Mazin if he can identify Bartik, Mazin told him that he is a customer in the restaurant he works in, and he tried to buy his necklace, after that Mazin went to the restaurant, and told the manager what happened to him, the manager told him that nothing will be deducted from his salary, and he doesn't have to do much until he's fully recovered, as for his coworkers they all were happy to see him, they refused to let him do anything, after all he helped some of them, it was the time to repay his kindness, and to his surprise not just the ones he helped but also some he didn't help also helped him, a very warm feeling filled his heart, he didn't stop smiling and thanking them, and for the first time, he felt that he is loved, and he wasn't lonely, and maybe the world isnt that bad.
His neighbor was absent that day, the manager told Mazin that he went to do some business, when Mazin went back to his house, his neighbor was waiting for him standing at his door, he welcomed him back, and invited him to his house, he told him that a coworker called him and told him that Mazin is back, the neighbor was very worried about Mazin disappearing, he also told him something important.
What the neighbor said was: the night you disappeared i was waiting for you, if you remember i wanted to talk to you, and you told me that we will talk after you come back, i was still waiting, when i suddenly heard the sound of foot steps, and someone inserting a key slowly, i opened my door to talk to you, when i saw an old man, he looked suspicious, so i used my phone to record what he was doing as evidence, then when he opened the door and entered, i caught him after we fought, i hit him like crazy, and called the police, it turned out that he had your things with him, your wallet and keys, he was really stubborn and denied everything, and wont talk, after they heard what i saw and i showed them the video, i went back home, and waited for you hoping that the man didn't kill you, but you didn't come back, which made me very worried.
Mazin was so happy, someone is worried about him, and even protecting his house, is this what a friend means? He was missing so much! when he was alone, He thanked his neighbor, but the neighbor told him that he was considering him as family, and that what family do, and Mazin already saved his life.
Mazin was really touched, he was really happy, he told his neighbor what happened to him, and how he stayed in the hospital all this time, after that Mazin went back to his house to sleep and rest, at 1 am he heard the boy whisper: wake up. He really missed this voice, so he was happy to hear it again, he went to check the door, it was like the same time he left it.
After that day his life changed, he started helping others for the door and for knowing that when he help, he might gain a friend, or be helped in return, even if the one he helped didn't appreciate it, at least the door is opening, he smiles alot now, and when Elena brought him some cupcakes, he shared it with his neighbor, things were going great, as for what his neighbor wanted to talk about the night he was attacked, it was about a coworker he likes, and wanted to ask Mazin what does he think about it.
After a month of helping others, finally the door was open enough to allow him to enter, but for his surprise, he wasn't really sure he wanted to go there, his life became way better, and now he have friends and people who care about him, he even have Elena and her amazing cupcakes, he stood at the door thinking, when he noticed how refreshing the air was behind the door, so he decided to explore the place and thought he can come back whenever he wants, once he entered he felt like his body is full of power, it was so refreshing, he walked a little bit and looked behind him to check the door, there was a door standing in the middle of a forest, what a weird place to put a door, he made sure not to walk very far from the door, so he wont be lost, the boy suddenly appeared in front of him, he was smiling, and said: welcome, you manged to open the door.
Thanks, but what is this place exactly? Asked Mazin
Its another world, but still its not the time for you to discover it. Said the boy
How come? Asked Mazin
Its a very dangerous place, even though its full of treasures, you will die really fast if you try to walk any further. Said the boy
Mazin said while checking out the boy: how old are you? The way you talk, makes me feel like you are old.
The boy said: if i was living in your world i would be 90 years old now, but we are blessed with long lives, we grow much slower than others.
Who we? Asked Mazin
The boy said: we have many names but we call ourselves the Scelto.
What do you want from me? Asked Mazin
We need your help, of course it wont be for free, you will become rich, and also you will have super powers. Said the boy
What kind of power? Asked Mazin
We will talk about it once you agree on helping us, we don't want to force you, so its your choice, if you refuse, you will be able to take off the necklace, and of course, you will have to but the box back to where you found it, and then you can live normal life, but if you agree, you have to understand that there is no going back, your whole life will change. Said the boy
What kind of help you want from me? Asked Mazin
We can't tell you, until you agree to help us, take your time, and think carefully, once you have an answer come back. Said the boy
Mazin went back to his house, thinking, super powers? So i will be like a super hero? Is that's why they made the door opens only when i help someone?, so they were preparing me?, he also talked about making me rich, but what kind of help they need? Obviously its very dangerous, otherwise they wont be this generous, so to get the power and money he must be ready to put his life in danger, was it really worth it?
Yes its worth it, but do i really need all this? Im already having happy life now, even though I not rich, but i have friends, and people who cares for me, maybe i should refuse, anyway i should think carefully as he said to me, i cant rush things, i cant just stop helping them whenever i want, the boy way of speaking about no going back, it was actually kinda scary, im sure if i changed my mind later, they will kill me, even though they don't seems to be evil.
After that night, the stone stopped telling him to wake up, and there was no dreams at all, but he once woke up at 1 am and saw the door there opened, so he knew that he can go any night he wants, he spent a whole month thinking about the boy's offer, it was really hard to decide, but he thought that maybe he should decline.
Everything was perfect until one day, his neighbor (Charlie) was killed in car accident while crossing the road, Mazin was very sad, he thought of Charlie as a brother, he couldn't believe it, he was very angry and wished he can kill the driver, spent days depressed, he went to the court to see what the driver sentence will be, hoping it will be death, but sadly it wasnt, because the accident wasnt on purpose, so he was sentenced to spend 5 years in prison, when Mazin was walking out, he went to the driver and said: you've killed a good man, i hope you never get out from the prison.
That night Mazin had a dream, it was Bartik's lawyer giving money to the driver and telling him: i will give you the rest when you are done, make it look like an accident.
Chapter 6
The Revenge
After the driver took the money, he was waiting beside a car, once he saw Charlie getting out of the restaurant, he rode the car and started driving slowly at first and then acted like he lost control and killed Charlie.
When the driver hit Charlie Mazin woke up terrified, he was having nightmare, no its worse because its real, he started to cry like a baby, Charlie died because of him, those monsters, they should've killed him not Charlie. he must have revenge but how?, Bartik is in jail now, and he doesn't even know the lawyers name, he must find a way to reach them.
After few days, the office that Charlie took a loan from, came and took everything from the apartment to sell in order to pay the debt, it really hurt Mazin seeing the apartment empty, it made him more depressed, Charlie was really gone, like he never lived there, Mazin stopped talking to everyone, and his coworkers were understanding that he lost his friend, so they kept quiet and helped him as much as possible.
Next day a new neighbor arrived, how quickly the apartment was rented, Mazin thought, and went to check to see who took Charlie apartment, he knocked the door, a tall large man opened the door, he looked kinda scary, Mazin interdoced himself, even though the man looked scary he was very nice to Mazin, he offered him some juice but Mazin refused because he prefers tea, the new neighbor told him that he need some help, he came to this city recently, and he doesn't know where to find the good shops near the building, so Mazin told him when he have free time he will take him in a round and maybe even they can shop together, the man was very happy.
That night Mazin saw a dream: Bartik's lawyer giving instructions to his new neighbor: there is empty apartment next to his, stay there and try to be very friendly and make him trust you, all you have to do is put a sleeping medicine in his food or drink, once he slept take his keys, and make a copy, thats all, see how easy it is? I will give you 20 thousand for this easy job.
Mazin saw the new neighbor putting some kinda of medicine in the juice he brought to him today.
Mazin again woke up like it was a nightmare, scared, breathing heavily, he was very lucky he didn't drink thay juice, he couldn't sleep again thinking, so the reason they killed Charlie is not just revenge because he caught Bartik, but also because he was protecting me, and to empty his apartment, to get one of their men next to me in order to have my keys, but why not killing me now? He already tried once before, so what is stopping him now?, Mazin kept thinking all night, until he thought of theory to understand the situation, Bartik wont tell anyone about the necklace and the door, because everyone will want to have it, so he wants to take those himself, as for why not killing him now and just take his keys, Mazin thought that a mruder will draw attention, he wont have enough time to search for the decorative metal that opens the door, he will try to enter Mazin's apartment while he is in work, it will be easy and no one will notice, since Charlie isnt there anymore, and of course, once he gets what he wants he will kill me, to make sure i wont go after him or tell the police, but how he will do that if he is in jail?.
Mazin went to his job as usual, he knew that Bartik wont leave him alone, he was rich and his lawyer is ver dangerous, so sooner or later he and will get what he wants, the only way to protect himself is to accept the boy's offer, he had no other choices, so he set an alarm to woke him at 1am, he went through the door, and for the second time he felt so refreshed and energy filling his body, after few minutes the boy appeared and asked: what is your decision?
Mazin said: i will help you, but i need 1 more thing.
What is it? asked the boy
I need your help to revenge my friend, i think you already know what is happening to me, after all you are the ones showing me those dreams. Said Mazin
The boy said: remember there is no going back, be ready to get a super power.
Mazin woke up im his bed, it was really weird that he doesn't remember what happened after his talk with the boy, he checked the time, he was late for his job, so he called the manager to take the day off, the manager said: Mazin where are you? You didn't come for 3 days, is there something wrong? Are you okay?.
Yes, yes im fine, i will come tomorrow, sorry i have to go now. Mazin said. then he ended the phone call, so he wasn't awake for 3 days, what exactly happened to him?.
Someone was knocking on his door, Mazin opened the door, it was the new neighbor, he said that he was worried he didn't see Mazin for days, and also still waiting for him to show him the good shops as he told him before, Mazin acted nicely and told him that he is sick, but after few days he will go with him, then closed the door telling him he need to rest now.
Mazin took off his clothes, and started to check his body, he wanted to know what the boy did to him, there was nothing wrong with his body, not even a scratch, it was weird that he doesn't feel anything changed, but actually he was kinda tired, so he went to sleep, at 1 am the boy whispered to Mazin: wake up.
Mazin walked through the door, but this time was different from the first 2 times, he felt nothing at all, when the boy appeared Mazin asked him: what did you do to me?.
We gave you the power. Said the boy
I dont feel or see anything changed. Said Mazin
You wont feel any change, its not how it works. Said the boy
What kind of power i got? Asked Mazin
The power of illusion. Said the boy
That wont protect me from Bartik. Said Mazin
The boy said: you are mistaken, its not a simple power, if it's used well, you can create entire worlds, in people minds, you can make the people see you in another image, even make them kill themselves, or lose their minds, you can control a whole place and fill it with your powers, so anyone who enters will be under your control, they will smell, see, touch, hear, things doesn't exist, of course it works best in worlds weaker than ours, but your world is different, it limits those powers for unknown reasons, that's why you won't be able to use your full power in your world, so starting from now, every night you have to come here to train.
Mazin wasn't really sure about the illusion power, but he didn't say anything, the boy told him not to use the power until he is able to fully control it, unless he is in danger, so Mazin continued to do his daily job, and even went with his new neighbor to show him, the new shops.
After a month of training, Mazin was allowed to use his power to get his revenge, of course he wasn't done with the training, it was just a test for what he learned so far, and he started with the new neighbor, he finally accepted the neighbor invitation to watch a movie in his house, the neighbor made a tea and sandwiches for Mazin, of course Mazin knew that the food is full of sleeping medicine, so he used his power to convince the neighbor that he ate and drank the tea, and fell asleep, so the neighbor took his keys and went out fast to make a copy, after like half an hour he came back, put the keys back in Mazin's pocket, of course while he was away Mazin throw his food and tea, to keep things real.
Next day Mazin resigned from the restaurant, they all were really sad, even the manager tried to convince him to stay, but Mazin insisted and told them he will stay im contact with them.
For few days, Mazin acted like he is going out exactly the same time like he used to go to work, and sneaked back to his house, and also acted like he is coming back at the usual time, until one day while he was waiting in the house, he heard his door opening, it was Bartik, Mazin hide himself, his heart was beating fast, he was excited, because he had great plan for him.
When Bartik entered Mazin's house, he closed the door so no one will see him, he saw a room full of furniture, for some reason it felt familiar to him, he started looking for the metal piece, when suddenly he heard a voice from behind him say: long time no see, he was surprised and turned to see who's behind him, when he saw who it was, his eyes were full of horror, it was the friend who he killed when he was young and stole his necklace from him, he was in front of him alive and young like times never passed, now he knows why the room looked familiar, it was the exact room where he killed his friend.
Chapter 7
New world
Bartik face became pale, he kept moving his mouth but not voice, H.. H.. Ho.. How? Said Bartik
His dead friend said: i trusted you, and you killed me, you were my best friend.
Yo... You... Your not real. Said Bartik
Baaartik, Baaartik, a scary voice started to call his name, then suddenly Charlie appeared, he was drenched with blood, he started to appear then disappear then appear again, while walking towards Bartik, did you came here again to steal? Charlie asked Bartik
It.. It cant be, both of you are de.. dead. Said Bartik while barely breathing
Both his friend and Charlie started to walk towards him,
killer. they kept saying both in same time, their eyes started to glow in red, each one of them started to talk differently, both in same time, dead friend was saying: i never hurt you or anyone, why did you kill me?, and Charlie said: all i did was defending my friend's house, i did nothing wrong, but you killed me.
S... St... STOOOOOP! Shouted Bartik.
Charlie and the dead friend were getting really close to Bartik.
So he started to Shout: STAY AWAY FROM ME!!!.
He took a gun out of his pocket, Mazin thought it's surely to kill him to get the stone.
Suddenly everything became quite, there was someone knocking on the door, Bartik didnt move or talk, he was just holding his gun, prepared to shoot, the person outside knocked again and said im Steve sir, the man you hired to stay in next apartment and get the keys, is everything okay? I heard you shouting. Said Steve
Open the door, run, escape. Many different voices where whispering those words in different times and tones, Bartik opened the door and there was long hooded man wearing black, he entered and when he took off his hood, it was Mazin, you tried to kill me, because of your greeds, but now its time to get my revenge, Mazin, Charlie and the dead friend became tall, and their faces became scary, its your end Mazin said, they started laughing and when they were almost about to touch him, he fainted.
Mazin called the police, they came and woke Bartik up, Bartik started screaming non stop, when he saw Mazin, and Mazin used his power again, he made one of the policemen looks like his dead friend, he said to Bartik: we are here to take you, Bartik collapsed and had heart attack.
Bartik survived, confessed everything, but he lost his mind, he became scared from everyone, and starts to scream if anyone comes near him.
As for the lawyer, the police checked Bartik confessions, and it was true, they found enough evidence in Bartik's house, to put both Bartik and the lawyer in the jail, so the lawyer was sentenced to spend 15 years in prison.
As for how Bartik break in Mazin's apartment while he supposed to be in prison, the lawyer got him a medicine that makes him look like he is very sick, and when Bartik was moved to the hospital, with a help of a nurse he managed to sneak out, and was planning to go back after an hour or so.
Mazin called everyone he knows, and told them that he is leaving the country to live in another one, so they made a good bye party for him in a small cafe, Elena gave him a train Keychain, and bag of cupcakes, when he went back to his house, he started eating the cupcakes so slowly, enjoying it for the last time, while looking at the train Keychain, he was planning to ask her if she wants to be his wife, his dream was to open a bakery where they sell this amazing cupcakes, but not everything in life goes as planned.
He only took some clothes and things he needs in a backpack, and of course the Keychain, at 1 am he went to the other world, the boy was waiting there, he told Mazin what they wanted from him, 30 years ago the Scelto got information about a mysterious stone in another world, so they wanted to get to study it, but the problem was that world is toxic for the Scelto, but there was a man (Azad) who had the power of immunity against everything except physical attacks, they sent Azad to get the stone, he went there and started looking for it, after a few years he started to find clues about where the stone is, but suddenly he disappeared, they lost all kinds of connection with him, and because that world is toxic they couldn't send anyone to go there, and sending another man with immunity power was useless because its not a power that he can defend himself with it, Azad was the strongest among all the people with the immunity power, thats why he was chosen to do this mission.
The elders of the Scelto started to think of a way to know what happened to Azad and get the stone, after few years finally they decided that the best way is to get a man from another world and give him power in order to find Azad and be able to get the stone, the reason that this decision took years, is that the Scelto people powers were only for them alone, so to give a stranger one of the powers was a very big decision, there was many against that, thats why the sapphire stone was made.
They agreed to give one of the powers to a good man, that they can trust, Mazin's world was the most perfect to find someone to give the power to him, the sapphire stone is a device especially made to be able to communicate with the chosen one, and also to transfer small amounts of power in order to pick and help the chosen one, there was also another device, which was the the decorative metal piece, this one is the door to their world.
Of course there was many tests in order to choose the right man, Bartik friend was the first man who was tested, and many after him, some couldn't open the door, some they didn't have the right mentality, for 20 years no one was good enough, Mazin was tested by the stone, the first test was helping the boy, and he was clever enough to understand the second test which is helping the people in order to open the door, and the last test was when he got his piwer, he could've easily killed Bartik and his lawyer, and no one would suspect him, but he refused to use his power in bloody way, even though at start many was against Mazin being tested, the way he was, but little by little he have proven himself to be a good man.
After few months of training in the forest, which was annoying for Mazin because he wanted to explore this world, but it was obvious he wasn't allowed to, he was also only told the needed information for his mission, even after months he doesn't know the boy's name, he named him sapphire, every time he felt tired and depressed, Mazin take out his Keychain and think about it, soon after he is done with this mission he will be rich, and he will go back to Elena, but now he must focus on his mission, because he finished his training and was ready to go to that world.
He was given food, water, and some tools, and of course some instructions, Mazin was standing in front of the door, when it opened to reveal another forest, he walked through hoping the place wont be toxic for him too, but thankfully nothing happened, he looked around him and he saw a city.
So this is the city of 1000 doors, where Azad sent his last message, Mazin thought, while walking towards it, the city was very beautiful, it reminded him of an ancient city he saw in a movie, no tall buildings, only 3 floors at most, the people were wearing brown, all shades of brown, no other colors, also there was no trace of technology, no electronics of any kind, it felt like he went back in time, people were looking at Mazin, it was obvious that he is a stranger, maybe because he was wearing black clothes, or holding a backpack on his back, he went to the first shop he saw, was selling some fruits, some of it Mazin never seen before, the seller didn't answer Mazin and completely ignored him, Mazin tried asking several people, but all were ignoring him, he was getting really angry, how he will find Azad if no one is willing to talk to him.
Mazin kept wondering in the city, when suddenly a door opened and hands grabbed him inside the house, then the door closed.
It was a young man, he looked very nervous, he was whispering: what are you doing here? They will be reported and soon they will come for you.
who? asked Mazin
The gaurds. Whispered the young man
What they want from me?, i didnt do anything wrong. Asked Mazin
We must move fast, or we both will be killed.
Chapter 8
City of the 1000 door
Why they will kill us? Asked Mazin
I will tell you the whole story, but for now wear these and come with me. Said the young man
Mazin wore the brown clothes the young man gave him, and sneaked with the young man to another house, there was an an old man there.
this is my grandfather. said the young man
The old man said: you should be careful stranger, you almost lost your life.
I don't understand. said Mazin
Sit down, and listen, long time ago this land was a big forest, an explorer came and discovered that under this part of the forest there is a special kind of crystals that can be sold for a high price, people started to gather here in order to mine those crystals, of course they needed places to stay while they mine, so little by little a city was built, people kept digging down and down, until one day while digging, they reached a place they shouldv never touched, there was a monster there, and this monster started killing people and attack them, someone noticed that some people survived the monster attacks, the common thing between the survivors was, that they all were wearing brown, so the people thought maybe because the earth color is brown so this monster cant notice them, and ever since the gaurds started to order everyone to wear brown in order to survive, wearing other colors means that you are putting all the city in danger, they wont accept that, so anyone wear colors other than brown will be sentenced to die, also whoever help or talk to this person, now do you understand? Said the old man
Yes, thank you for helping me, i came here to look for someone, his name is Azad, perhaps you know or heard of him?
No i dont know any Azad, but listen, gaurds are looking for you now, my advice, leave as soon as possible if you don't want to die. Said the old man
I cant leave now, i need to find Azad first, dont worry, i wont stay in your house any longer, will sneak out, and will manage to hide. Said Mazin, and he left the house.
He was walking, thinking of a way to find Azad, when a man pointed at him and said: here he is, a few men in dark brown ran towards him, he tried to escape but they caught him, and took him to the prison, they tried to take his backpack, but he used his power and tricked them, they thought they took the backpack and it was empty, while the real one stayed with him.
If Mazin wanted to escape for real, he could've used his power, but he wented to go to prison in purpose, he wanted to make sure that Azad not a prisoner, the prison was far from the houses at the end of the city, they put him in a cell with 4 beds, there was only 2 men inside, he sat on one of the beds, used his power so they wont see his backpack, and also wont see him hiding it under one of the beds, and sat on the bed, he was kinda happy that there is a bed in the prison, he hates sleeping on the floor, both men were looking at him, Mazin asked: does anyone knows a person named Azad?, they took some time before one of them one of them said with low voice: you are sitting on Nolan's bed.
Mazin said: it doesn't matter, all beds are the same, he can take another one, said Mazin because he kinda hated using his power, and he already hid the backpack under this one.
The man asked: what you did to enter the prison?
I wasn't wearing brown, i was wearing black. Said Mazin
Then you are a stranger, everyone here knows about the brown clothes, i hope the monster wont attack tonight. Said the man
What kind of monster? Asked Mazin.
No one knows what kind is it, or how it looks like, it lives in the mines near the city, it only attacks in night, but some people says its watching us, if anyone wears colors other than brown, it will come to look for him, and might end up eating more than one, it happened before. Said the man
Why this place name is the city of 1000 Doors? Asked Mazin
Both men looked at each other, like he said something weird, the man said: this is not the name of this city, maybe you are confused, this city is called Rudar. Said the man
Rudar?? The sapphire boy told him that this city is called the city of 1000 Doors, or at least thats what Azad said to them in his report, is he really in the right place? Mazin wondered.
The man said: Nolan is coming soon, he is scary and strong guy, its better to move to another bed.
Where is he now? Asked Mazin
Every day the gaurds takes him to cut some trees in the near forest, and also to plant some new small trees, he always comes back at sunset, and now its the time, he will come any minute.
Mazin kept looking at the cell door waiting for it to open, and when finally it was opened, a tall muscular man entered, he really looks scary, his face have many scars, he looked at Mazin and said: this is my bed, get lost.
Mazin didn't moves and said: now its mine, get another one.
