The lift's door open and a girl ran from it frantically. Her skirt swaying in the air as she dashed through the corridor exiting the building.
Running short of breath she ran to the nearest coffee shop with all her might which was few blocks away.
Reaching the shop she took support of the door and gasped for air, gaining back her breath she entered the shop.
As she opened the door aroma of coffee beans hit her nostrils hard and jolted her from strain. She entered the shop still breathing a little heavily and approach the counter.
Looking at the menu her empty stomach starts jumping 'The coffee I needed' she thought and ordered stacks of coffee.
After half an hour her order was ready now it's time to take all of these back to the office 'I wanna cry for real this time' she cried lifting all the stacks
'I can't even run with these' saying that she starts sprinting her way back. Passing the same treess cars and juggling her way she finally reached.
Going towards the lift she noticed everyone was back to their position getting back to work. She looked up at the big wall mounted clock and saw that it was already two.
'Break is over' she wail to herself and entered the lift cursing the VIP lift on the right.
She was right even on her floor everyone was back to their cabin. She missed her only chance to eat.
Getting in everyone looked towards her. It was a sight to see a small girl holding stacks of coffee reaching upto her head. Two nearby guys approached her to help putting them down. She distributed the coffee to all.
Right after that she ran to Aliya's cabin
'Mam here's your coffee' she gave her the cup walking upto her.
'Don't you think you are too early. The break's over' Aliya remarked folding her hands.
'Sorry miss, place was a little far away but I tried my best' she replied politely
'Where's the rest?' she questioned taking the cup of coffee.
'I already gave it to others' she replied
Aliya lookee up at her face 'Remember to give it to me first the next time' she retorted
Naira bowed agreeing and exit the cabin.
"Remember to give it to me first" she mimicked Aliya as she came out of the cabin like a child.
Outside the cabin everyone smiled and thanked her for the coffee which made Naira smile. Her heart was finally content making her feel it was worth doing all this.
She went back to her desk and finally sipped her coffee 'OMG even this tastes like Nectar now' she gratefully said
'Have you eaten anything?' simmi asked putting her cup down
'Not at all that evil woman... she made me run through blocks to get coffee, making me miss my lunch' Naira put her head down on the table with disappointment holding her stomach to relieve pain.
'Because of the lift' simmi asked
Naira instantly turned to her 'How you know that?' she asked seriously
'She came and gave me a lecture too' simmi explained
'That biiiiitch!!' Naira exclaimed angrily
Simmi patted her back 'Enjoy fasting today'
Hours passed by and both girls kept working. Clock's hour hand strike 6 in the evening. The golden time of the shift's end.
Naira threw her pen down and closed the files 'Freedom... My freedom' she shouted gladly
Simmi also stretched her back, it was finally time to go home 'Listen its time...' before Naira could complete her thought Simmi receives a call.
'Hello mom' simmi answered the call
'Yes...' she continued. Ske kept talking to her mother as Naira kept satring her lying face flat on the desk.
'I have to go mom is calling, you were saying something?' simmi asked
'Nah I was just asking if you wanna eat'
'Oh yea you are hungry right? Let's go then' she realised
'No no you go home its fine I can grab my favourite snacks on way' before simmi could counter her Naira grabbed her by shoulders and threw her out of the office.
'I also have some extra work to complete so it will take time. You hurry you and go' Nair adviced throwing her out of the room.
Simmi smiles and hugged her she knew when Naru is adamant about something she doesn't listen 'Ok but you don't overwork and quickly go eat right after' simmi ordered
'Okay mam' Naira replied giving her the army salute. After simmi was gone she went back to her desk to complete her work 'Thats what happen when you slack off Naru remember this next time' she said out loud to herself reminding her not to be lazy.
Time passes by quickly and it was already 8 now she noticed time on her cell phone 'Its all done now' saying that she packed everything properly and ran outside.
Dashing out of the lift as soon as it hits the ground running towards the exit. She was so focused on her destination that overlooked the journey and collided with someone.
'Ahh...' she shrieked taking steps back to stable herself after the collision
'Sorry'
She apologized cursing her bad luck of today 'Why me again?...' she whispered and looked up to notice the person whom she hit
'You??' she shouted seeing Daksh in front. He had his poker face on and was holding a phone on side of his ear completely unfazed by the collision like it didn't happen.
'It looks like he is on a call' Naira thought and tried to slide away from his sight. Daksh noticed her actions to run away again and cut the call.
'Why you so late it's past eight?' he questioned her out of concern but showing no emotions on his face which confuses Naira 'Are you concerned or bossy?' she questioned herself but dared not say it out loud
Just then the only thing she feared most happened.
Her stomach growled...
She turned red like a tomato 'He heard it right? Why I am so unlucky today? I wanna kill myself??'. Her mind flooded with various thoughts.
'Oh god please dig a hole and let me burry myself' she prayed
Daksh heard that and prevented any eye contact with her, in order not to make her more embarrassed. He kept pondering how to make situation less awkward.
'You haven't eaten yet?' he asked
She still keep looking down in embarrassment the only person she didn't want to meet had to see her in this state. Great!!
She shook her head saying no, still without looking up
'Why??' he inquired
'Well its all your fault' she replied loudly.
The sudden change of emotions made Daksh eyes widened for split second but they went back to its original cold eyes again.
