Kai felt elated as soon as he heard the faint galloping of the coming horses, eyeing the carriage as it rounded up at the entrance of the house.
One week.
He had thought the one week would quickly flutter by, as usual, and he would get to see her again, but he was wrong. The week had been excruciatingly slow with each day passing like a month. The house was strangely cold and quiet and nothing much seemed to interest him. He spent the better half of his time cooped up in the office with paperwork and having to listen to Enji's unsolicited advice about this and that.
Either way, he had simply felt low. Maybe he had gotten the flu? He was not the type to easily fall ill but the cold nights and the work stress were not particularly friendly to him.
Stupid.
