I ran hard and fast, even though I was out of breath and gasped loudly as I ran, I knew I just had to get there. I had to get to where Ginger is, I have to tell her how much I love her.
The small puddles made by the rain splashed at my feet and my breath turned to mist in the night air as I exhaled in desperate attempts to regulate my breathing.
All the anguish I'd ever felt in my life was to prepare me for this moment. That was the only thought that made sense. I glanced at a store window that displayed a clock.
It read 11:52.
-I still have time- I thought as I ran.
Suddenly someone appeared in front of me. It was almost impossible stopping without falling given the state of the street, but I managed.
I looked at the person... -001?- I thought. I had almost forgotten about her.
She seemed sad. "Why?" She asked in a slightly accusing tone. "Why did you hurt those people? Why were you with that criminal?"
-Does she know Ginger?-
"I can explain," I started "but not right now." I tried going around her but she kept moving to block me.
I knew it was only augmented reality so I could probably just walk right through her but it seemed so unnatural that I didn't even consider it.
"It's not too late for you." She stated in a tone probably meant to calm me down or change my mind, but I simply didn't want to hear her I just wanted to see ginger.
11:54
"If you don't move I'll never forgive you!" I started getting angrier by the minute.
"I really like you," She said quickly.
"And I don't!" I countered.
She stepped back a little as if my words had mortally wounded her.
"WHY?!" She asked, tears now rolling down her cheeks "Why would you say that?"
"Because it's the truth now get out of my way." I replied while making my way by her.
"Please!" she cried "Just say you didn't mean what you said!"
I hadn't realized but I'd stopped.
Probably to consider her request or maybe because I actually had feelings for her.
I...
I....
"I meant it." I left her there.
What right did she have saying that to me after leaving me in that warehouse?
I forced myself to stop thinking about her.
-Ginger... I just hope I'm not too late.. Please, just wait a little longer.-

Finally I made it...
12:02
I looked around, the empty street looked back.
Was I, too late?
That's was when I realized someone sitting on the ground, the person's back propped up by the fountain's low brick wall.
G...Ginger?
What's she doing there?
Slowly I walked closer, that's when I noticed the blood on her hands and clothes.
I knelt beside her.
My throat got dry, I took her hand in mine. "You can't go, not again."
Slowly she opened her eyes "you came." She said with shallow breaths and a faint smile "I'm glad."
"Just hang on I'll go get help." I tried but she shook her head and then "I'm sorry I left you... when we were little, but I can't do anything... about now, sorry." A tear drop rolled down her cheek. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."
She reached down and took out a cell phone and handed it to me. "My old house. You'll...find answers there, it's... Not safe here so go." She was putting her all into telling me this, I could see the pain each breath caused her.
"No," I said softly "I won't let you go, not again, I'm taking you to a hospital."
"No... they'll...kill you." She coughed a little "Please, Jake you have to live... You're the only one who..."
She stopped.
Stopped speaking, stopped breathing, she just... Stopped.
Looking at her, she seemed like she was only resting, a short nap. Like she would wake up any minute now.
She couldn't be....
A faint ringing in the distance, steadily getting louder until it was all I could hear.
Then... Black.

I woke up to her looking down at me, the sun was out it shone through a small window, I could hear the television on in one of the other rooms.
I looked around, "where? Are we," then ginger's bloodstained figure came back in a flash. I looked at her, "I made breakfast," she said smiling and then "come-on or it's gonna get cold."
-Cold-
