The soul beasts were able to deplete Fan Lin's energy.
They were thinking about why didn't Fan Lin used his soul power to help the Barracuda Queen to pass the calamity. His pure energy was enough for her to pass the calamity.
All of them thought that the Deep Seahorse king must have never told Fan Lin.
They knew Deep Seahorse king and the Barracuda Queen, they were water and ice attribute type soul beasts who roamed the world.
The Deep Seahorse king was also the one who helped them by providing resources from the Boundless Ocean.
Why did he not tell Fan Lin was something that they were pondering about.
What happened was:
Deep Seahorse king had a slight hostility towards Fan Lin due to the fact that the Octopus King was injured because of him. After the attack, he went to gain information about Fan Lin and what he get shocked him.
Fan was chased by the whole Federation and Spirit Pagoda. The Deep Seahorse king thought of the recent incidents in the Boundless Ocean and thought that Fan Lin was the cause of that.
So he released the fake news that the Barracuda Queen was going to face a second calamity to the Octopus King and suggested the Millennium Ice shards. He knew that the Octopus King would definitely go to Fan Lin to ask for help but Fan Lin was the one to actually come to the Octopus King on his own accord.
The Deep Seahorse king suggested the idea to Fan Lin. He has seen Fan Lin's ability and he knew that Fan Lin would be able to help the Deep North. It wanted Fan Lin to leave that place for the few months till those incidents were happening.
The Deep Seahorse king didn't wanted to harm Fan Lin in anyway. He was just afraid of the trouble that would come with him and that's why he temporarily sent him to the Deep North. If only...
....
That was the main reason why Fan Lin never knew of the effect of his excessive energy.
Soul beasts ate different spiritual herbs or fruits mainly to gain the energy and the other benefits of that fruit.
If they could gain enough energy to break the bottleneck they were having, they could reach a higher level.
That's the truth known to all the soul beasts.

All the soul beasts started to process the energy that Fan Lin provided them. They were doing it faster as they also wanted to strengthen the Millennium Ice shards and then send Fan Lin sooner. His sentence still left them in fear.
Meanwhile
Fan Lin had released his Indestructible shield to the whole Deep north and its surrounding 1000 kilometres.
The indestructible shield this way was incredibly weak. So weak that even a normal humans could pass through it with just a push of their hands. He didn't set this up to stop someone. He merely set the shield as he was able to sense every thing happening to the shield.
This was one of the side functions of the shield. It actually was to inform him of where the shield was damaged so he can restore it but he was using it that way.
This way, he would be able to monitor everything that passes by the shield.
The Yeti bear had already informed him that the hundred thousand year old soul beasts and various other ten thousand year old soul beasts were either hunted or kidnapped in the past few months by the Spirit Pagoda.
They were planning to do something. He didn't know. The other reason why he wanted to finish his work here faster was find out what the Spirit Pagoda was trying to do.
He haven't forgotten the promise that he made to himself. He will personally destroy Qiangu Dongfeng with his own hands. He will make him feel despair.
Physical torture has no effect on titled Douluos as they were able to cut off their senses from their bodies.
He wanted to give him emotional and mental pain.

"How many of you guys can do it? Should we add some more beasts?"
Fab Lin asked. He had promised that he will not absorb a single point of energy from the Deep north. He was bored. He thought of teleporting but was unable to.
"Also why am I not able to teleport?"
The blue haired lady, also referred to as the third lady by Fan Lin, answered.
"Because the space has been frozen to deal with space type soul masters."
"Ohh."
Fan Lin expressed.
'Chen Xinjie's goon also had that skill. Gu Yuena too.'
Since he didn't have anything else to do. Fan Lin started to reminisce the time he spent after coming to this world.
The most amount of time he spent in a single place was Shrek Academy. He spent a third of his life there. Even though he was caged in there but he still began to like that Academy. That was the reason he saved them. He didn't saved them because it was the right thing to do or because he was feeling responsible.
He wanted to see the Academy one more time. That's why he saved the people that made that Academy. The people that made that city.
Be it the lady who always sold him the best of the fruits available or the chef who cooked for him for more than seven years, or the cafeteria staff, that always looked at him weirdly.
The gardener who was a good friend of his, the noodles shop that started selling pure Veg dumplings due to him or the Mecha designer association where most of the big shots knew him while the new ones ignored him.
He started to like that lifestyle a little.
That was the reason he saved them. He wanted to see the city one more time.
He had not eaten anything for the past two years now. He knew how to cook normal food but he didn't know how to cook spiritual food.
Along with the fact that the whole Federation was trying to find him, he could not go to the place where he used to eat in the past. Mainly the Earth Rock Alliance.

He should have learnt mecha designing before going to Shrek.
He should have gotten the whole information on Qiangu Dongfeng first.
