"In a council where Pride and Hatred and Ill report and Haughtiness are principal forces, there shall be no future past the judgement of descent. Kings shall cast their crowns in humble subjection, men shall forfeit their possessions in hushed fear, for that is the tribute that a man's pride claims of him when it is fulfilled.

And why is pride such a disastrous affair?
