Chapter 28 - Game World [Alternate #2]

Duriel Coldblood, oldest son of Amelia Coldblood and an Alpha Werewolf, he was the most powerful of Amelia's four children, three males and one female, with a great gift for magic as well since the resident Witch of his future pack was able to teach him magic to protect himself from magical forces after a not so pleasant experience with being mentally controlled by magic and forced to kill his father in a magical sacrifice, since then he has done everything he can to protect himself and others from magic and everything that is related to his and other people's minds and free will. His mind is a fortress, which is due to his talent for Abjuration Magic, the Magic of Protection.

He, however, focused a lot of his time on learning how to protect his mind first, which did not gave him much time on how to protect others from physical and magical harm, but he is learning.

Today he was tasked with following four little pups who decided to venture to see the new guy who moved in a kilometer away from the pack lands, he must say, he is impressed with their determination to know who this new guy is, and even he is a little curious about it... He masked his scent with a simple spells, protection of self meant also not being tracked by others when running away, and a simple spell to remove scent from his body was too easy and he learned it quickly.

"Damn pups..." Duriel sighed, his nose following their scent and his body shifting to his and wolf form, they are in a forest, a wolf is not surprising so the guy probably won't know he is not a wolf per se. They walked, the pups were also in wolf form, but they weren't in a hurry considering tye sun was setting and they needed to be back because of curfew... Soon, he smelled it, the new scent, it smelled like cinnamon, fresh strawberries, and a thick scent of sadness, it smelled like rain and wet dirt curiously. The four pups also smelled it it seems because the smallest one, a male pup, yipped sadly when he smelled it, damn even Duriel almost whimpered when he smelled it because of how thick it was. 'Why does he smell like that?' Was the only though in his wolf mind as the four pups were approaching the home of the strange, Duriel could see the lights were on, which means he has electricity.

And the pups got too close, Duriel cursed when he heard the man: "Oh... Wolves?" He could hear the momentary confusion on the guy's voice, it sounded sweet and melodic, almost like a siren, it made Duriel groan internally as the connection with his internal wolf shuttered in agony, he found something very, very, very, very precious... Ring level of Precious. He found his Mate, the other half of his soul, his destined, his beloved, his everything, his- "Oh, Werewolves." He heard the man saying again, and for one second Duriel was shocked before relief overcame him, if his Mate knows about the supernatural side of the world, then he doesn't have explain as much as he thought he would have to, and also be rejected by a scared human. "Are you five lost?"

Wait, five?

It was then that Duriel noticed the man was looking through the window, his eyes closed, how could he see them? Duriel shook his head, the four pups seemed confused why he said five and not four, but they probably thought he was blind, just like Duriel thinks he is, but you don't need your eyes to see... 'There's no use hiding anyway' he thought as he slowly stepped out of the clearing of trees, making the four pups yip and howl in fright as he seemingly appeared out of nowhere, he slowly shifted back from his Wolf form completely naked. Nudity was normal among werewolves, so neither of the four pups cared about it, but due to him being in the sight of his Mate that he didn't want to be naked there. He quickly and embarrassedly began to focus on his necklace, a silver necklace that hanged on his neck (No, silver doesn't kill werewolves, only Pixies.) that was magically enchanted to act as a storage item.

These are not common, it takes years to make, and luckily he has one due to Enheyär, the Ancient Witch of his pack. She was old, about 1,451 years old, always saying how close to how death she was every day and that they should really a substitute for her while they can... Anyway, she enchanted ten items to make them storage items, this one was for his 18th birthday four years ago, he still remembers how it was full of condoms and lube, and a note saying "It's always good to be prepared- Enhy"

Yes, he used some of that, but therr was still a LOT of condoms there, as well as a few potions, books, scrolls, medicine, poisons, weapons, and other things. Suddenly there was a wave of shame that coursed through him when he thought the one night stands he had throughout his life and cringed when he couldn't remember how many he had after he counted 50... Yeah, horny dog he was.

He quickly dressed up in his nicest clothes he could find in the necklace that was a silver moon, before looking at the four pups who showed curious, cautious, and scared looks at him when he aggressively threw clothes to them as well, they were all their clothes they took off before shifting, Duriel got them in his necklace. "Oh, by the sound of it you shifted back huh? How can i help you...?" His Mate once again spoke, this time Duriel analyzed his words only to notice he mention 'by the sound', sound, which meant he hadn't seen them shift and they were right in front of him! 'He is blind...' a sense of wonder hit Duriel as he looked at his Mate, wondering if he was born blind of became blind, sadly he wouldn't be able to see how he looks like and be completely swoon by only one look!

"*cough*" Coughing on his hand, Duriel shifted the weight from his left feet to his right one as he spoke, voice raspy, low, and bumming in a husky symphony. "My name is Duriel Coldblood, i am here on rhe behalf of the Coldblood pack to be a... host. Yes, to be a good host and check on you..." His awkwardness could be visibly seen at this point and the pups were looking at him, and then at the man in front of him... He was adorable. Short cherry red hair, small, thin frame, but he had this melancholic air around him that emanated his sadness and they could smell it... Hard. "Oh, Coldblood? Please come on in, I've been waiting for a visit of your pack since I've bought the land and moved in, please come in, i need to be a good host. Brinkley, can you please add five plates to the table? We have guests."

"Right away master!" A tiny voice answered, making Duriel tilt his head, as if noticing his momentarily confusion, his Mate said: "Brinkley is a Brownie, a house spirit. Adorable he is." His mate chuckled before sighing, he paused for a second before coughing awkwardly: "Where are my manners? The name's Edgard Enermis de Mileto, you can call me Edgard." Duriel could only feel joy at learning his Mate's name, Edgard.... "Thank you for having... Us." Duriel gave a hard look at the pups before looking at Edgard with a small smile.

"Uhm... Excuse me, mister? Why are your eyes closed?" The youngest pup, Edward was his name if memory doesn't fail him now, Duriel growled at the disrespectful question directed at his mate, but his Mate only chuckled and opened his eyes, Duriel froze as he stared into the glass-like blue eyes of his mate, his eyes seemed sensitive as he didn't open them as much, as he didn't need them to see. "I'm completely blind, little pup." His mate answered, Duriel loved the way his mate popped the last 'p' of the word Pup, it sounded cute in his ears. "I'm sorry for my brother's rudeness." Edward's older brother, Alexander, apologized even though Edgard's light smile made it seem unnecessary to apologize.

"Please, enter, you are more than welcome at my humble household." He opened his door as he invited the five wolves to his territory, albeit it would seem normal to others, being invited by his mate to enter a place completely full of his smell was... A tempation, he must control himself to not lie down and roll on his mate's bed because even though he knows about the supernatural, it doesn't mean he will instantly accept him since the natural instant attraction as a reaction to sering their mate comes only from the werewolf and their mate slowly feels more and more attracted to them, it's not instantaneous, but a slow process. "Thank you for having us even though we did not warn or call you to confirm our visit."

"Its fine, please sit so we can have our conversation, i bet you all are curious about me, right? I mean, a misterious guy buys a land a kilometer away from your pack lands and lives there in isolation, eo of course there must be something there, right? So, here i am, you can start your interrogation now." The way he says these words sound almost like an automatic action of a robot, or lke he was already used to it, which made Duriel's wolf whine for some reason, oh, he can smell the thick scent of sadness emanating from him once again. Duriel held his mate's hand, making the man flinch while he said as if he could tell why his mate was sad: "Don't worry, we wont kick you out of these lands, the pups are just curious to know you... And me too, am curious about you..." His finger drew a circle on his mate's hand, making the man pull his hand back, Duriel internally frowned as he heard his wolf whine as a response to his mate's clear act of rejection.

'No, you stupid dog, he just pulled his hand back' Duriel thought, a little irritated as he pulled his hand, now empty, back with th a small frown in his face. "Well, can i ask you some questions as well?" Duriel completely dominated the conversation, not giving any soace for the pups to ak their questions with his mate, that's also what they get for leaving the pack grounds without permission. "Sure, go ahead." Came the redponse from his mate, making Duriel almost melt at the change in his mate's mood as a small smile grew on the corner of his mouth. "How did you learn about... you know, the supernatural?" Instantly the answer he got was an errantic heartbeat showing that his Mate flinched at the question

If he was Edgard, now he would've seen:

[Nee Quest: To tell or not to tell

Duriel Coldblood has asked your origin story, choose now to tell him the truth or not. Depending on your choice, your relationship with this character may change.

Actual Relationship: Strangers (Werewolf Mate)

Werewolf Mate: The second half of the soul of a werewolf, the perfect lover for the werewolf, all shifters have their mate.]

Edgard sighed, he knew that there was a Relationship system, you could marry and even have children, sex was extremely explicit and minors couldn't play this game at all. Looking at the screen he wondered if he could ve an in game relationship with someone, he knows that he is clearly touch and mostly love starved in real life, so maybe an in game relationship would help...? "I... I've know about the supernatural since i was 5. And due to it i became permanently blind." His simple explanation was not a lie, but also not the whole truth, which means he told the truth.

[Mission complete:

Your relationship with Duriel Coldblood has incrrased.]

Duriel felt cold run down his spine, he was learning Magic from a Witch, so he knew the only way something magical that cqused harm could be permanent was if it was a ritual or a curse, and rituals had a certain smell on the soul that wolves that were sensitive to magic could pick on... And Duriel was one of such wolves due to his affinity to Abjuration magic being high, and in fact, he could not smell any type of ritual, even the benign ones from his mate, which could only mean he was cursed and the curse was strong enough to make him permanently blind, which also means the one who cursed him is strong.

"Ah, sorry for asking." Duriel quickly apologized, but Edgard could feel the worry and fear from him, albeit he couldn't read his thoughts he could still feel hus emotions, and the stronger the emotion, the deeper it affects him. , so Edgard felt Duriel's awkwardness deep in his bone, as well as the fear and coold from him, making shiver for a second. Edgard couldn't see Duriel's physical frame, all he could see was a white wolf with deep green eyes, Edgard could feel a connection with him... "it's okay." Edgard smiled to the taller man, if i have yet to Duriel's physical appearence, i'll do it now: Duriel is a tall with a sweet chocolate colored skin, his eyes are green in the lighter spectruum of the of color, he has a tattoo on his lefet shoulder that is a simple symbol: A shield with the rune for protection on it.

It looked to be more asthetical rather than functional, but if Duriel used his magical enegry on that rune, he could activate it and project a shield that prpotects everyone in a 9 meters radius around him (30+ feet). It's only used in case of emergency or something similar, like a large area attack and he has to protect everyone on that area, so he doesn't use it ocasionally as much. His hair is short and he has a small beardd, like someone who didn't shave for three days and now has a scruff on their chin. It tingles your skin and feels intersting to rub against...

"Oh, food is ready." To break away the awkwardness, Edgard just called forth Brinkley who apperaed floating plates of food behind him, like they were little duckies following their mama duck. "Please dig in, and if you're wondering, you can use magic to detect if there's any form of poison or any harmful stuff added to your food." Hearing his Mate tell him that he could check if he wanted felt like his Mate knew him too well, but also stung because he felt like he qasn't trusting his Mate, but he can't help it! It's his instinct to know his pack is safe all the time... That he is safe all the time! "It's okay if you want to check, after all, i'm just a stranger in the middle of the forest." Duriel checked the food and when found nothing wrong with it, he felt guilty for even thinking that his mate could want to harm him in any possible way, but the word "stranger" triggered him a bit... To his mate, he is but a stranger, so he considers himself a stranger to him as well...

HIs wolf whined and whimpered inside his head at the thought, making Duriel sigh as he felt guilt and sadness overwhelm him for a second. Wolves that found their mate normally get overwhelmed by random emotions, most of them are good emotions, but sometimes they aren't. "Okay... It's great, i like it." Whispering to himself, Duriel sighed as he looked at the smaller man in front of him with a determination, he opened his mouth and said: "Hey, you can ask questions about me as well." Instantly, the four pups raised their eyebrows so high they were putting Everest to shame with how high their eyebrows were, why? Everone knows that Duriel Coldblood dislikes being questioned about pratically anything by pratically everyone, taht's like common knowledge among their pack and even some neighbour packs! "Oh, really?" That seemed to do it as the awkward atmosphere was changed completely to another, lightly pink, fluffy, and strangely sweet atmosphere.

"Absolutely." Came the answer froms his lips before he could even think about it, he cursed mentally as his Mate tilted his head and turned to the pups, saying: "Are we playing 20 questions now?" They didn't know what to answer but one look from their future leader made them completely agree by nodding: "you knnow i'm blind, right? If you're nodding, at least let me know." This made them feel a little embarassed as they answered at the same time, as if they planned on it: """"Nodding."""" This answer made Edgard chuckle, the sweetest, most mesmerizing sound Duriel ever heard in his fucking entire lfe, his heartbeat quickneded as he smiled.

"Then, i'll start the questions?" Edgard smiled, his heartbeat accelerating a little bit, he smelled less like sadness and lonliness now, so Duriel just agreed quickly by saying: " Yeah, you can do that." And after his answer, Edgard stopped for a second and tilted his head a little to the side as he was seemingly deep in thought about something, but it only took him a few seconds to make an decission: "So... How old are you all are?"

"14" "15" "7!" "8..." "I am 22 years old now."

"Now it's my turn to ask a question." Duriel smiled while sweating nervously. "Are you single?" Instantly he cringed at the queston, he sounded so needy for a moment, oh Gods he must hate him now- He dind't expect an answer though: "Well... I am single, have always been single my entire life i guess."

Oh no... He felt hope.
