Chapter 9 - The Little Moments in life

Later that night.

It was a rare night in New York where the sky wasn't covered in clouds letting the residents of the city look at the sky in all its beauty. Many couples, families, friends spent the night gazing at the stars and talking about things and one such family was on the armor pad of the Avengers tower having a late-night dinner and good time.

"So..." began tony breaking the atmosphere of the group and interrupting Aron as he was tracing pathways between the stars that he could see with his hand with a glowing smile on his face.

"Yes?"

"About those books..." began Tony.

Aron lost his smile and gained a sheepish look on his face.

"Please don't freak out"

"What did you do Aron?" asked pepper with a glare.

"I may or may not have figured out how to see and talk to remnants," said Aron avoiding her gaze.

"Okay, what's a remnant, and what does it have to do with your books?" asked Tony.

"People or Souls, in general, leave behind an after-image a reflection of their greatest desires and regrets in the form of energy which boost those with similar ideas and desires, they are called 'remnant'."

"So ghosts?".

"Not exactly, ghosts go away after their desires are fulfilled and are capable of reason at least to some extent. Remnants are more like things that make up ghosts or like how monkeys are to humans sort off but a lot smarter and less dangerous".

"What can they do?" asked Tony.

"Watch, think and talk to each other" answered Aron.

"So they are harmless?"

"Yep." Answered Aron and then winced.

"What's wrong?" Asked pepper but Aron didn't answer.

"Speaking of Remnants. JARVIS can you bring what I asked you to buy?" said Aron forcefully changing the conversation.

"Sure" answered JARVIS.

"What did you ask him to buy?"

"Two pairs of glasses and it's on you Tony," said Aron.

An RC truck came to the Armor-pad with two cases of spectacles which Aaron took and enchanted.

"Few of the Remnants have been adamant abut wanting to meeting the both of you and this will let you talk to them..." said Aron as he was about to give it to them.

"Can you make me one?" Asked a voice startling the little family, luckily they were not at the edge of the Armor-pad.

"Oh, It's you Ms.One" said Tony to which the Ancient One simply smiled.

"Sorry to interrupt you family time but those glasses will be really helpful for our current predicament, so I was hoping you could make me one". Said the Ancient One.

"Sure, Um do you have a pair of spectacles? and any thing I need to add?" asked Aron.

She smiled and gave Aron a pair of oval spectacles like those worn by old women.

"I would appreciate it if you could enchant it so we can know which dimension the wearer is in"

Aron nodded and and finished the enchantment and returned them to her.

"I also add durability, restoration and recognition but I don't have any information about different dimensions so I hope you can fill that part in yourself"

"Thank you, Aron. I will put these to good use and a piece of advice before I go. Don't be afraid to say what's in your heart especially towards those you consider family" said the Ancient One with a smile as she left through the portal.

Her advice froze both the males in this budding family causing the only female to look at them and sigh and wait.

"Okay I might have been trying to distract the both of you." Aron was the first to confess.

"Aron, before we proceed can you promise me something?" asked pepper forcing him to look into her green eyes.

Aron nodded.

"Promise me that unless its something you can't share with us. You won't keep anything hidden from us. Especially about how you feel and the things that you want. I know you are not human and we don't have any experience being parents but I want you to know that we will be there for you no matter what"

"I promise Pepper and can I call you mom?" asked aron the latter part barely a whisper.

Pepper hugged him and said sure.

Aron hugged her and started crying his 'human' soul finally merging with his 'alien' body and world.

Tony looked at the two of them with wistful eyes until he saw saw pepper spread her arm inviting him to a hug and vola the first ever Stark family group hug in generations was created and Jarvis took a photo of it and so did Z and Death as well as the Ancient one.

After an awkward moment where they separated from eachother.

Aron asked the one thing that was on all of their minds.

"Now what?"

"Now we play a game" Said pepper looking at Tony who looked like he was ready to bolt but couldn't find a reason to.

"What game?" Asked Aaron curiously.

(A/N: Aron is speaking English. I don't know why I felt the need to clarify that.)

"A game of truth or confession" said pepper as she searched for something to use as a poiter.

"Is't it truth or dare?" asked Tony.

"Well I don't want you to run away".

Tony clicked his tounge.

"So what are the rules?" asked Aron ignoring Tony.

"We spin a pointer , thanks Jarvis, and who so ever it points must either answer a question truthfully or confess something they feel guilty off" said Pepper as a holographic pointer appeared in front of them.

"Cool! can I go first?" asked Aron clearly excited.

"Sure" answered Tony earning a glare from Pepper.

Aron swiped his hand and the arrow spun and pointed to Tony.

"So, What is your greatest fear?" asked Aron to Tony's face.

Tony just looked at him not at all prepared for that question and then looked at pepper and saw her encourage him with her eyes.

Tony closed his eyes and sighed.

"My greatest fear is watching my family and friends die while I stand by and watch helplessly."

"Is that why you are so obsessed with your armor? because you think it can keep us...me safe?" asked Pepper with a serious look on her face.

"Um..okay.. who's next?"asked Aron trying to break the wiredly tense atmosphere.

"That would be me" said Tony as he spun the pointer.

the pointer spun and landed on Aron.

"Ask away!" said Aron with joy in his voice.

"What do you want to do? Like really want to do?" Asked Tony.

"I want to go explore the Universe" without hesitation as he stretched his hands towards the stars his eyes shining.

"Are you going to leave us?" asked Pepper mock hurt.

Aron just looked at her puzzled.

"It will be like going to school and I can always instantly come home using the portals. So it's not like I will leave you. It will be more like me going out to play" said Aron as a mater of fact.

"I didn't think of that" said Tony amused.

"So, is it my turn again?" asked Aron excited.

"Yes" Said Pepper.

Aron spun the pointer and it landed on Pepper and she was a little nervous.

"So, What do you think of Tony?" asked Aron. Pepper smiled and her eyes gained a soft look. While Tony was extremely nervous.

(A/N: Forgive me if what I write doesn't make sense. I am going in completely blind here and I also don't have any experience in romance or love).

"He is smart, narcissistic, arrogant , stupid, careless, self-centered and a prick. He hates being handed things and can't take care of himself and always leaves a mess for me to clean up..."

Tony closed his eyes trying to fight back tears he didn't know that just words could hurt him so much he knew that there was a 'but' coming but it still hurt.

"...But none of it is his fault. He is narcissistic so he could hide his nervousness, He is a prick because he dosen't know how to treat others as his equal. He is clumsy because he dosen't know how to express his feelings as such he ends up sending the wrong message or ends up sounding arrogant. He sounds and acts all aloof but there is no one in this whole world that cares about his friends as much as he dose but he is afraid that they might be fake so he always ends up pushing them away. He is always scared that he might loose everyone he knows to some disaster or an other so he ends up sounding self-centered. He is also the type if man that will sacrifice himself if it means the safety of those that he holds dear. Which is why I worry for him and also why I love him and um he is also quite impulsive."

"That sounds like too much work" said Aaron scrunching up his face in annoyance.

Pepper laughed and agreed with him.

Tony was just staring at her and a part of him was wondering why on earth was he not married to her yet.

"Okay my turn" said pepper as she spun the pointer.

Thus the newly formed family spent the night learning more about themselves and each other and growing stronger bonds as a result.
