Chapter 19 - The Man In The Window

Mallory sat with her eyes closed and waited for Hunter to kiss her when they both jumped high after hearing Blade curse outside.

They ran into the living room and found Blade on the floor.

"What happened?" Hunter asked, and Blade muttered. "I was going to sit on the couch when I thought I saw somebody in the window. I lost my shit and tripped and fell."

"What'd they look like?" Mallory whispers, and Blade gets up.

"I couldn't tell, but it was not Maddie. This person was bigger, possibly a male... But it could have been nothing."

"Shit!" Hunter muttered, and Mallory felt her breath getting shorter.

"I can't breathe," Mallory was panting and reclining in panic with her hand on her breast.

"Mall, watch me, deep breaths," Hunter rehearsed and stood before her. "It's okay. Nobody will harm you."

The two men looked at one another and knew this could not end well. Not at all. Maddie was one thing, but this man could be a crucial threat.

Blade searched the backyard without finding anything, so they locked up but stayed guarded.

Calvin walks around with the telephone in his hands. He had to try to page his mom again. Last time, it was turned off.

But something told him that she might answer this time.

The signal went through, so the pager must be on at least. "Calvin?"

Mrs. Wraith answered on the other end. "Mother? Are you all right?" Calvin quivers with tears in his eyes. "Oh, Calvin. It would help if you didn't worry about me. How are you? Where are you? I was so concerned." His mom said, and the tears rolled over Calvin's cheeks.

"I'm good. We're fine, but I need to tell you they're something..."

"About what?" His mother asked, and Calvin breathed down deeply. "Maria's pregnant... You're going to be a grandma..."

Silence. But Calvin overheard his mom sobbing. "Oh, Calvin. That's wonderful news." She cried, "You think? I'm scared. What if Dad finds us and does something to Maria or the baby!" Calvin trembled,

"He's not going to do anything. I won't let him." His mother promised.

Mr. Wyatt went through every document he had to put together on Mr. Wraith's case, and there was something fishy about it, but he needed more evidence. Calvin had only said what his father had claimed, but there was no solid proof to support this.

He rubbed his chin and reclined in his chair.

He needed a way into Mr. Wraith's office to review his files.

But how the hell would he enter?

Maddie sat on her bed and tried to think of a plan to lure Hunter to be with her... Could she claim she was pregnant? But then she remembered that they hadn't had sex in a very long time, and she should be showing by now if they had.

But she could, on the other hand, say that he was drunk and probably doesn't remember anything.

Hm. Something Hunter never could say no to was Maddie's naked body... Maybe she should seduce him and ensure that she was fertile at the moment and try to get pregnant? Yeah.

That was an excellent idea.

Maddie counted her calendar months and realized that she was fertile. And that means she should go ahead with her plan now, or she had to wait a month.

The big question was, how would she make him sleep with her if he had Mallory at home? Hmm...

Mrs. Wraith and Calvin hung up the call, and Mrs. Wraith was shaking.

A grandchild? It was beautiful, only at the wrong time.

She was walkin' around the house, thinking about everything Calvin said about Mr. Wyatt and his scheme to bring down her husband.

She wanted to lock him up too, but she was likely to go with him, even if she never participated in the company...

But she knew about the kidnap of the children and the adoption costs and the lives of the women her husband had taken...

Mrs. Wraith shivered and looked down the street, and her heart stopped when she saw her husband's car parked near the pavement.

Mr. Wraith was furious when he entered Hollie's building, looking for his wife. She should be there because she could have been more intelligent. She should have known that the employee's address was on the contracts. He shook his head and took the elevator up.

Mrs. Wraith rushed to secure the front door with the chain before she hurried into the bathroom, where she locked the door behind her.

Hollie was out shopping, and she phoned her with a high level of anxiety.

"Hollie?" Mrs. Wraith mumbles and hears the banging on the door. "Yes? Is something wrong?"

"Don't come home."

"Why? I am outside?" Hollie replied but stopped before walking in.

"My husband is outside the front door," Mrs. Wraith said, and Hollie gasped.

"Oh! This is not good. I'm calling the police now. He can't just walk in and bang on my door." Hollie murmurs and hangs up.

Mrs. Wraith sat there and listened to the noise of her husband.

He was probably drunk because he can't be that foolish sober?

"He was taken away by the police... I'm outside the door, but the chain is still on,"

"Oh, right," Mrs. Wraith said and hurried into the hallway to let Hollie inside.

"We have to take you to another location," Hollie said, and Mrs. Wraith nodded.

"I shall go to Calvin for now, and we shall find a new home together"

Hollie smiled, "He called?"

"Yes, he did. And he has also announced that his girlfriend is pregnant."

Mallory had finally regained control again after her panic attack.

But she was very anxious, terrified that Mr. Wraith would stumble in and kill her. She had finally felt a little better, but this past week was getting to her now. She would jirk at any sound.

"Hey, guys?" Mallory asks upon entering the living room.

"Yeah?" Both Hunter and Blade replied.

"I'm afraid to sleep alone. Can we all sleep in here?" Mallory whispers. "Sure," Hunter said, and Blade nodded, "Yeah, get your pillow," Blade added, and Mallory nodded and rushed back to her room.

Mallory got comfortable between Blade and Hunter and soon drifted off to sleep.

Soon, Hunter dozed off, and Blade had first watch, unaware of the man outside.
