After our triumphant victory at The battle of Yan Province. We gathered our remaining troops for a final attack on the Yanmen Pass. Where Lu bu determined to resist and fight. He hoped to use the narrow path of the mountain pass to hinder our advance. Since the mountain pass is narrow, we won't be able to use our numbers to our advantage.
This puzzled the other commanders, since the only way to the Yanmen Pass is either through the narrow mountain pass or through the main road next to the river banks. However if we attack through the main road we must be prepared for along siege.
A siege would be disadvantageous to us , since we are short on supply and time. Our time limit is almost up. The other warlords , will use our absence to invade The Wei domain. With our current forces currently situated far north of Wei domain. We won't managed to return in time to repel the enemies invading forces.
We must either retreat from our current position and regroup at the city we conquered, and wait for the enemy to come to us. Or we must find away to destroy the enemies in one fell swoop. If not we will be unable to finish them all and claim our victory.
The commanders gathered here all puzzled in what action we should take. Morning turns into day, day turns into noon, noon turned into night. They kept bickering amongst them selves. This isn't going anywhere, if we don't strike soon , we will lose our only chance.
Continuing this meeting will only delay our advance to a stalemate. We are wasting time . Time we cannot afford to waste. We need to draw this conflict into a conclusion before its too late.
After figuring out my own plan to win this battle . I decided to put the plan into motion without further delay. I walked towards the tents exit.
Suddenly I was stopped at the exit by an another officer.
" Where do you think your going?"
" This meeting isn't going anywhere, so what's the point of staying here any longer?"
Before I could even finish my sentence. His hand grabbed on to my collar lifting me up from the ground. He's enraged with my lack of attention for the meeting nor respect for the other commanders present in the room.
" You, cocky bastard!"
" You think your so special don't you."
" You think, just because you suddenly become a commander, you can just brush people aside like that."
" You have no respect for people who has higher standing than you!"
" You think your different then the other commanders here, just because your lucky."
" Ho, what do you mean ?"
" You are just taking the seat of a dead man, simply because there's no one who wants your predecessor seat."
" Because your unit is just a bunch of sad homeless people and peasants who doesn't know anything about war!"
The Supreme General shouted in rage.
" Shut up, you bastard!!!"
The whole room went quiet. The endless chattering of the officers, talking behind my back went silent. Then he continued with he's speech.
" We are allies fighting the war on the same side! We are fighting for the sake of our lord ! We are fighting on the same battlefield! No matter who you are before, in the battlefield we are all the same!"
His speech inspired the officers to work together instead of bickering amongst our selves. A great general can inspire greatness in others with his words. And his actions will change the hearts and minds of his troops.
" Yes sir, sorry for over stepping my bounds."
"But this disrespectful kid here, dares to not show the commanders present here any face, and dares to leave this meeting before the strategy meeting is concluded."
" He is clearly disrespecting the generals present, and should be punished harshly."
" Ho, interesting."
" So kid why you decided to leave?"
I answered him with calm composed demeanor.
" Because its useless , to discuss this any further."
The officer cuts my words with an array of insults.
"See General, the audacity of this lowborn soldier!"
" He is nothing more than an self pretentious , officer who thinks he's above every one else!"
The Supreme General refuted his statements.
" Shut up !!!"
" If you continue to disturb my conversations, I will execute you for disobedience!"
The Supreme General makes the officer bites his tongue. His senseless rambling is distasteful, for anyone forced to endure it.
" Kid , why do you think its useless to discuss this matter any further ?"
I answered the Supreme Commanders question with a simple sentence.
" Because wasting time with fools , won't win this war."
After answering the Supreme Commanders question I walked away and disappeared from their sight. I left the entire meeting in an up roar, and calmly walk away from it all.
I took my horse from the stables and ride back into my unit as quick as I can. By the dead of night I reached my troops encampment.
By the time I reached the encampment they are already rallied and ready to depart on my command.
Xi an ran towards me in full gallops .
" I knew you would win."
I respond
" Hey Xi an , glad you made it here unhindered."
" What you did was incredible, every person in this entire camp know what you did."
" How did you managed to face Lu Bu on a 1 v 1 showdown and managed to survive?"
" OH, and what was he like ? Was he a fearsome demonic warrior like the rumors said ?"
" I heard that he can split the sky , shatter mountains , and shook the earth with a swing of his halberd."
" Rather than a demonic warrior, I think he is a warrior who reached the pinnacle of martial arts and that same power terrifies every warrior that crossed paths with him."
" I think that's why people fear him."
" Simply because they couldn't control such power, and that's what makes them afraid."
