Chapter 16 - The Battle at Yan Province Part 6

I need to think of something quick. The enemy is about to clash with the Generals guards. The enemy is ridding towards them with a waves momentum, like an arrow shot from the string of the bow flying towards it's target with the intention to kill.

Then it hit me, Our best course of action is to disrupt the flow and crash into them from behind. Then they would be halted by the Generals defense formation. And their backs will be proned to our attacks.

The question is, how am I supposed to disrupt their flow. My cavalry detachment aren't fast enough to reach them before they clashed.

It is then, when I saw the person leading the enemy's cavalry charge . The enemy's second in command. He is a berserker and a warrior who ignores his own men on the battlefield and charges straight in to the enemies lines.

So he won't realize a sneak attack before it was already to late. I picked up my bow and arrow. As I pulled back it's string I took a deep breath and focused my eyes upon the enemy.

Then at that moment I let my arrow fly towards the enemy. The arrow flew past several troops. Then it struck the enemy's second commander straight through his head.

Blood gushed out of his punctured head. He stumbled forward and fell from his horse . Halting the wave of his charge on their tracks just as they were about to clash with the Generals guards.

The enemy's were shocked, in a moment they pulled back on their reigns. The wave stuttered back halted in it's wake. The general took this opportunity and charges towards the enemy's ranks.

As they pulled them selves together they are strucked dead beneath their horses. My cavalry arrived at the rear of their formation . I came down upon them and swept them clean from the face of the earth.

Every second the enemy's morale are in shambles. I struck deeper into their formation. Killing them little by little until I reached their General at the middle of the formation.

I swung my sword at him. Hoping I could cut him down In a single strike. But I was wrong, as my sword reached him. He parried my blow and swung his sword towards me.

I barely managed to dodge his swords by a hairs length. The sword cut a tiny lock of hair from my head.

My horse stumbled forwards. I got up and take this opportunity to strike him from his back once more. I put all my strength into this blow.

He turned around and swing his sword towards me, with all his might. The two swords clashes. Sparks of metal and fire dissipate from our sword clashing.

I was pushed back by the momentum of the clash. Its obvious he is stronger than I had expected. He is far stronger than my previous enemies.

I thought to my self in the heat of battle.

(" huh, this would be fun.")

Our horses walked in circles. I knew he was planning his move because of my sudden strike his men are in disarray. He needed to find a way to kill his target or find an opportunity to flee.

I wasn't going to let him catch his breath. I quickly spur my horse towards him. Then I swing my sword towards him repeatedly, again and again using my speed to my advantage.

Overwhelming my foe ,I managed to chip away his strength bit by bit. As the battle rages on with no end in sight both sides began to waver.

The enemy general I've been fighting for the past hours had not once relented. He kept fighting without break nor hesitation. Even though he is outmatched in speed he is convinced that he would win in a battle of attrition against me.

Thanks to his past experiences in battle he managed to read my movements and predict the flow of my blows. To the point that he managed to catch my sword before I even managed to land a full blow.

Since that I changed the rhythm of my attacks just before he manages to read them. Making it harder for him to counter my attacks. However it is stamina consuming and by the looks of it I will need more stamina than what I originally taught.

So I decided to switch my attacks. From using blows, and relentless attacks. To mostly feints, hidden attacks and sudden strikes from different angles.

After I switched of my attack , he changed to a defensive stands. And kept dodging and parrying my attacks, when he couldn't he would direct it towards a non fatal area.

I needed to end this fight quick, I'm running out of stamina at an alarming rate. If I don't do something quick, at this rate I'm going to loose this fight.

The best way now is to finish this fight with one strike, one clean strike. I charge towards the enemy at full speed. Trying to get an opening as fast as I can.

He stumbled back and braced himself for my incoming attack. He held his sword high upwards.

I stabbed at him with my sword, changing my attack direction. Effectively stuttering him. Then I quickly draw my sword from my inventory and slashed his neck.

I managed to slice open his neck blood gushed out , as he tried to cover his wound but it was to late the damage has been done.

He fell into the ground in front of all his troops and at that moment they lost their will to fight. I managed to win the battle but I knew within myself. That I wasn't strong enough to beat him head on.

Compared to other commanders I might be superior by at least a certain degree . But he was on a different level then the rest. I need to get stronger fast .I will become stronger! I will become than anything the worlds have ever seen!
