With my small detachment of cavalry or riders some would say. I rode with haste into the Western battlefield. The path covered with mud and corpses.
As we rode to the aid of the Western army. However things aren't as they expected. I found the battlefield empty without a single sign of life as if the sounds, the stench, the bloodied corpses of fallen soldiers.
As I went through the so called battlefield. I saw nothing but an empty field. The battlefield took part in the sea of trees, Yet most commanders would set a camp or an outpost outside of the forest to coordinate their armies.
Usually concealing the armies HQ and strength is the deciding factor in a forest battle. Where the trees clouded the battlefield, where troops would March into the unknown. Where ambushes, scouts, and traps are a daily occurrent.
This became a battlefield eluded with mystery, trickery, and it's mostly called the ride of passage for many commanders. Since this sea of trees displays the ultimate battlefield for cunning individuals. Those with talents in strategy would plan their grand scheme to out do their enemies.
While instinctive commanders would charge into the sea of trees with either an incredible animal like instinct to ride through the battlefield. Or their brute force will cut down all traps and schemes that stood in their way.
On the battlefield one simply could not really on instinct alone to win. Or so they say the larger the battlefield, the larger the ensuing events will occur battle is fought in more than just one nature.
A battle is the means of which an individual nor group to achieve their goals on the plain fields against all oppositions.
That's how I knew the enemy were racing here won't fall for obvious ploys. He is an instinct type commander as one would say. He will bring his entire unit onto the battlefield and commands them on site. Which makes for a quick response, and a decisive movements.
They are similar to animals hunting in the woods. And our armies are their preys.
When we reached the sea of trees we saw movements here an there. As if the battle rages on in many isolated battlefields. A cavalry force couldn't use the terrain to their advantage like in the plains.
When a cavalry enters the forest region. They are just targets waiting to be slaughtered.
We decided to dismount from our horses and continue inwards. Into the sea of trees to join in the conflict.
We unsheathe our swords and prepare for the fighting a head. As we walk through the dense forest. Sounds of metal clashing, soldiers screaming for help cover the entire area.
We split into groups of 5 to navigate through the forest. We will be able to move swiftly in small groups compared to a large squad. Which should give us an advantage in flexibility.
On our way through we met several other teams walking through the forest. Every time we got closer to them, I would take the initiative to use the system to analyse the teams individuals and strength.
When I'm sure we could win in a confrontation. I approached them in order to identify them as to wether they are friend or foe. Each allied team we encountered, were having doubts on the battlefield.
They were in here for days going through several areas. Every time they met another team they would have to be cautious in their actions.
However they have no idea what they are doing here. They were simply told to go to a certain area and then return. Sometimes they encounter enemies along the way.
Some of them won thanks to the individual strengths. However not everyone can be strong nor smart. Mostly they were ambushed and killed by the enemy.
Since information travels slowly. The HQ and most of the field units are flying in blind. Moving simply based on a hunch, from outdated information.
After I received information of the current situation of the battlefield. We went our separate ways.We immediately went to the Western generals camp near the southwestern side of the sea of trees.
The enemy general and main army's current location is unknown. But since they cannot abandon this Region of the battlefield. They must be within the sea of trees roaming around.
They must have an objective in mind. They won't just run around the battlefield killing enemies as they went, without a plan or at least, a clear objective in mind.
I thought to myself.
" What would be the enemies objective? "
" They won't simply rode out and go on a slaughter across the battlefield without a reason. "
after thinking things through I realized that the most likely thing the enemy would do is to use the dense tree areas to sneak through their enemies defenses and slay the enemy general.
I shouted with a firm voice.
" Troops pick up your pace we have to run as quickly as we can, to the generals camp! "
One of them replied.
" Why are we suddenly running back to the main camp? "
I replied to his question with a hastily worded response.
" Because the enemy's main force along with their general is charging towards the main camp, if we don't hurry the enemy will kill the general. "
The troops were shocked at the answer I've given them. After they realised the intensity of the situation. They immediately went quiet and focused on conserving their strength for the battle ahead.
After an hour of running through the forest we managed to see the flags of the Western forces main camp. And there we saw it. The enemy's general and an army of 1000 men charging straight towards it.
I saw the men garrison at the camp. They sounded the alert and sent all available troops to the front to defend against the enemy's attack.
However they are outnumbered at least ten to one. Although they're elite guards of the general, they would stand little chance of defeating the enemy without reinforcements.
We needed to act quickly or else they will kill the Western army's general and the Western forces will crumble.
