Chapter 13 - The Battle at Yan Province Part 3

After contemplating for a few moments before neither of us even spoken. The system sent me an analysis of the current battlefield situations.

[[ Ding !!! ]]

[[ Host has Three options available ]]

[[ First option : built a bridge across the 1st section of the river ]]

[[ The length of the crossing between the two shores of the river are closest at the 1st section, approximately around the height of one tree ]]

[[ Chance of success 45% , number of casualties around 70% ]]

[[ Second option : sent a person to swim across the river while carrying a rope and to tie it to the other end, then the troops will cross by swimming across while holding the rope ]]

[[ Chance of success 30% , number of casualties approximately 80% ]]

[[ Third option : mount an all out offensive on the 3rd section of the river, where the water level is the lowest of the three river section, and the ground is only around a body height depth at best ]]

[[ Chances of success 40% , number of casualties number around 95 % ]]

[[ Ding !!! ]]

[[ Host has met the condition needed ]]

[[ A new option is available besides the three main option ]]

[[ Confirmed intelligence stats confirmed ]]

[[ Host current intelligence : 15 ]]

[[ One new option has been unlocked ]]

[[ Option number 4 : make scarecrows from wood and dress it with armor, put it on rafts and send it to the 2nd section of the river to make the crossing then while the enemy is distracted by the rafts mount a full assault through the 3rd section of the river ]]

[[ Chances of success 65% , casualties number approximately 40%

I choose the fourth option, since this plan has the biggest chances of success and the lowest mortality rate.

As I finished pondering about my available options. I speak with confidence .

" General Huan , I have a plan ."

" How about we make scarecrows from wood and dress it with armor, put it on rafts and send it to the 2nd section of the river to make the crossing. then while the enemy is distracted by the rafts, we mount a full assault through the 3rd section of the river. "

" It will only take us a small number of time to prepare and I believe that this is our best shot at defeating the enemy with as little casualties as possible. "

General Huan took a step back, and he thought to himself. Considering the possibilities of another option. However no matter how hard he thinks, he didn't managed to come up with a better solution.

So he decided that it would be best if we followed my plan. Afterwards he sent the order to the other officers to gather their troops at the 3rd section of the river as discreetly as possible. Then he ordered the engineers to cut down trees to construct the rafts and scarecrows needed for this operation.

The plan is set to begin two hours from no in the mean time. I went to the courier outpost. I've written a letter to Xi an, whose currently leading the armies march towards here.

The content of the letter is simple. Once you reach here , go directly towards the west battlefield to reinforce their armies and to destroy the enemy as fast as they possibly can. While I will go through the east battlefield and attack the enemy HQ.

After sending the letter to the courier. I went straight to the armory to replenish my arrows and took a new mount for the offensive since mine were exhausted after the long run day and night to reach here, I told the horse keeper to take care of my mount while I'm gone.

Then I went around the ends of the rivers to examine the enemies formations. They weren't exactly being discreet with it either, they made large movements on the other side of the river regardless of time and appearance, they've even made no effort to conceal their movements.

Either their certain that they had the upper hand, and that even if they show them selves to the enemy they will win without a doubt. Is it because they have a brilliant strategist with them, or is it because the enemy leader is a strong warrior that fears no enemy.

My guess is that the enemy is over confident with his personal abilities. To the point that he disregards the capabilities of the enemy. Or hi is simply a fool that thinks, that he could win with simply brute force.

Either way were gonna out smart and out maneuvered the enemy making this battle easier than, what I originally expected. I guess defeating Chen Gong on the City before made this scenario easier than what its supposed to be.

Well I won't let my guard down regardless. After all an A rank Quest itself meant that, I couldn't finish the story by myself or rather I have to complete the quest with certain characters.

Then the time has come to begin the assault. However, Instead of joining the main assault on the 3rd section of the river . I instead decided to cross the river on a raft between the decoys sent over, I don't know why but I have a bad feeling about the enemies defense, So to make sure that nothing goes wrong.

I hid myself inside one of the rafts. As the rafts floats towards the other side, a hail of arrows rained down. Striking the scarecrows and rafts as it float closer and closer to the enemies shore. They are relentless, they kept shooting volley after volley of arrows. Until the rafts reached close to their line of sight.

They realized that this was merely a decoy. But it was too late, My troops had managed to cross to the other side of the river and began attacking the enemies defenses. As they rushed to the aid of their comrades, I snuck out of my hiding spot and went into the enemies encampment just behind their defenses.

As I went through the enemies camp was unguarded thanks to the attack. I managed to steal vital information from the enemy command tent. Afterwards I burned down the enemies remaining defenses before taking the enemies entire armory into my storage.

Then I went back into the battlefield. There our armies managed to push the enemy back, however they didn't managed to breakthrough yet. Both sides fought ferociously.

And there I saw him the enemies commander in the flesh, General Hua Xiong. He is a ruthless warrior with more brawns then brains. If Chen Gong were the enemies strategist then he would be the enemies muscle or fighter.

I took the opportunity to snipe him with my bow. And sure enough the arrow flown through the battlefield and struck Hua Xiong straight in the head through the eye. He fell down in front of his men. As the their morale drops with the death of their general.

I screamed from the back of the enemies.

" Attack Kill them all!!! "

My shout embolden my troops to attack the enemy with all their might. Before the hour is done, we managed to win the battle with relative ease. I wondered was it really just a feeling or that a storm is brewing on the battlefield.

That will change this plains into a sea of blood.
