Chapter 48 Collecting Karma
Xavier heard that they were going to abandon the people and felt that though it was not the right thing to do, it was the best option they had.
After all, no other city would take in citizens of other cities without any agenda and without confirming their identities and this would take a long time. If one didn't have a good background or had talent, the city would never waste its resources on taking in exiles from other cities which would disrupt their functioning.
Just as the group was about to start the planning for their evacuation, an alarm sounded.
The faces of everybody went pale. The city walls had been breached.
The city lord, who was fondling the woman, was so scared that he almost fell off his chair. He shouted," How is this possible? The city walls have already been breached?"
Micheal Wade, who was also sweating profusely said," It seems that the walls have been breached. But how is it possible that it happened so quickly. The city walls have been built such that even a Peak Martial Lord well take not be able to do it alone and would need at least 3 people of the same cultivation for making this possible."
The city lord who listened to this paled and exclaimed," Are you telling that there are at least 3 peak Martial lord level beasts working together in this beast tide?"
Xavier immediately understood what was the reason for the emergency. It was a beast tide. He had not known what the cause was for the Code Red' as he was just an ordinary student but now he knew.
'Now that I think about it, there were tremors if the ground which got more intense the deeper I went into the first and even that Old Martial Lord from the Wade family, who appeared later also went Ferrier into the forest with a distressed look on his face. Putting all the pieces together, the origin of the danger is from the forest itself.'
The city lord who was trembling stood up, pushed the woman who was on him down to the ground and started going out of the room shouting," Prepare for evacuation this very moment. We are getting it of here." He was so nervous that he tripped on his own legs and feet down but he didn't have time to mind the embarrassment caused by this blunder. He quickly collected himself and went off running.
The others who were sitting in the room looked at each other with blank faces and the very next moment, they snakes it if their daze and scrambled to make preparations.
Emilia looked at Xavier and said," You go and take whatever is important to you. After that, meet me at the place I'm about to give you the co-ordinates to. There is a hangar there which had a state of the art flightcraft. We will make our way to the capital after that."
Xavier wanted to say that he didn't have anything of importance and that he would follow her, but he heard a notification.
[MISSION : COLLECT KARMA
DESCRIPTION : AT PLACES OF DEATH, KARMA WILL BLOOM. COLLECT KARMA POINTS BY SAVING PEOPLE FROM THE DESTRUCTION WHICH ENSUES.

Xavier held his words seeing this mission. He looked at Emilia and said," I'm going to bring some people with me. It's it possible to take them away as well?"
Emilia was surprised. She thought for a moment and said," Ok, but you must be quick and must not being to many people. You have only 1 hour. You must reach the Dean building after that and we must take off."
Xavier was surprised that Emilia also said 1 hour, just like the system. Add expected, the system is always on point.

Not minding the usual mind reading by the system, Xavier went away and started looking around.
He quickly exited the city lord mansion and reached the outskirts of the city centre. He was satisfied by the scene he saw
There were numerous beasts which were running around and hunting people. There were guards of the city fighting them but they were vastly outnumbered.
The beasts broke through the formation of the city guards and massacred them.
Xavier wanted to save them but he remember the mission. He wanted to save people who would meet the criteria for the mission and he didn't think that the guards would. And moreover, when if he wanted to, there were so many beasts that he would put himself into deep trouble by saving them.
He quickly went away from the fight. After a few minutes, he reached the academy. If anyone would fit the criteria, it would be at learnt someone from the academy. He also saw many students who were fighting the beasts but they were worse off than the guards.
These students were all greenhouse plants. They couldn't handle the rough weather and many fell. Xavier also observed that the level of beasts here were lower than those fighting near the city centre. They were just mid level martial master beasts.
Xavier saw a Hyena beast pack which had about 50 beasts attacking a group of students. There were 16 boys and 12 girls in that group. They were a little older than Xavier.
What surpassed Xavier was that they were holding their own against these beasts and from they fighting profeciebt, they seemed to be from the elite class of the seniormost batch. All of them had a continuation of high to peak Martial Masters and we fighting well but the beasts were innately stronger than cultivatoe of the same level and with their numbers advantage, the beasts had the upper hand when though the students had higher cultivation.
'They are probably from the elite class of the senior most students in the academy. From the look of this fight, I think that they will be unable to hold on for more than 15 minutes.' Xavier thought.
He was looking through the group and his eyes lit up when his gaze landed on the one who was in the leading combatants fighting against the Hyenas. The boy was younger than the others but his strength was at high level Martial Master stage.
He had a handsome look, masculine yet graceful. The look Xavier wanted to have but the system have him such a feminine look they he couldn't do anything about.
The young man was fighting with his all and had no terrible handling of two Hyenas all by himself. But while he was fighting the 2 beasts, another beasts was approaching slowly from the side. The other didn't see this as they were to embroiled in their fights and didn't see this.
Xavier saw this chance and waited till he had the right chance. This chance came soon when the Hyena jumped towards the youth. The young man also seemed this but he couldn't dodge or parry the attack or else he would be turn apart from the front.
He could sense danger closing in and and he felt despair. It was hopeless but he still didn't want to give up. He continued putting up a resistance against the 2 beasts in front of him. The sense of danger increased in intensity with each passing second.
Just as the young man was about to give up, he saw a light flashing in the further of his eyes and in the next moment the sense of danger vanished. Not only that, when the two beasts which were in front of him were lying dead, their heads in pieces.
He turned around be and saw a lanky boy with a lithe frame staying in the distance holding a gun. He was shooting at the Hyenas and after just a few moments, the pack of beasts which were troubling them for the past 15 minutes had been taken care of.
The boy came up near them and said," I was sent here by the Dean. She ordered me to bring you to her and said that she will give you a path to escape."
One of the young men, who seemed to be the leader of the group asked," How do we trust you?" Xavier understood why they asked that. After all, he was to young to be of anyone important and he was still wearing the mask which Emilia gave him making him look suspicious.
Xavier took out the badge which the Dean had given him and asked it. When the hell saw this, they nodded and said," What about the others?"
"We don't have time to secure everyone. We need to maximise our efforts. You know how it is." Xavier said as he shrugged his shoulders.
The people in the group nodded. The young man, whom Xavier wanted to rescue wanted to say something but the letter stored him and will his head.
Xavier saw this and understood the right price of the young man. He appeared chivalrous and full of justice. He originally wanted to save everyone but Xavier knew that it was impossible. He saw the reactions of those Martial lord experts and even they despaired when the city was was breached so quickly. So he knew that the situation was way out of his league.
In a normal beast tide, the city would be breached only after a long time for to the continued attacks of the beasts but this time, the beasts went well out for some unknown reason and made the situation turn very ugly. Xavier didn't even handle time to build some artifacts to use against this.
Xavier your the group to hide in a safe place and asked for their tracking information and went off. He was now going to search for the 2nd person to rescue. He was running towards the academy building when he felt a strange sensation.
He turned around and saw a fight between a woman and a Fire lion beasts. They both were in close combat. The lion, with flame all over is body pounced at the woman and the woman with flame in one hand and Friday in the other fought back with equal ferocity.
Xavier was surprised to find out that this was Sheila. She was fighting against a Grandmaster stage beasts all by herself while she was in the high level Martial Master stage.
Xavier had already spent more than 25 minutes of his 60 minutes time limit and wanted to hurry but at the same time, he also wanted to observe Sheila fighting.
She punched the beast, which was lunging at her, right in the guts. The frost, which covered the fist, permeated through the lion's body and sent it flying with an roar. But it soon stood back up, taking very little damage.
Sheila looked at this and felt frustrated while panting for air. She was fighting with this beasts for more than 20 minutes and the beasts was showing no signs of being hurt while she was in her last legs.
She then sensed something and saw a bit standing a distance away starting at her. She immediately recognised him as Xavier. She shouted," Help me!"
Xavier wanted to observe his slave fighting a bit more but seeing her condition, he knew that it was but a good idea. He took out his Barrett weapon which he had improved the previous night and pointed at the lion. He then shot it right in the guts.
The lion roared and fell down. Sheila looked away Xavier with surprise. She came near him and asked," How did you kill it so easily? I remember that your gun was not so strong the last time we fought."
Xavier shook his head and said," I didn't kill it. I just knocked it out." He then looked at Sheila who was standing before him with a strange look.
Sheila saw this and asked," Why are you looking at me like that?"
Xavier shook his head saying nothing. The reason he was looking at her was because she gave the same feeling young man from before had given and it was way stronger than before. Seemingly, she had more value than the young man.
Xavier, but wanting to think about it much, said," I want you to follow me. We are in have danger but I have a way out of the city into safety."
Sheila wanted to ask somethings but kept quiet seeing Xavier's urgent attitude. Xavier then ruled around and saw that he still had about 30 minutes left and started looking for the others to save.
