Kingdom of Hallos, Beswind Execution Grounds, Present day.
Sara's hands were damp with sweat as she took a seat on the throne. The plan was so close to fruition. She was to take a seat beside Ered's throne. As soon as Xeto swung she would strike Eren down, that's when Roxas would come in and take the final blow. The royal guards and Ered's Shield would be the only threat. She had instructed her own men of Zuland to be ready to kill any opposition. Alvion and Lanace's men were instructed to do the same. This was much like a coup.
The men on the podium before them tied the hands of Direwolf's commander. He struggled to no avail.
Sara smiled. She lost Ramses to people like this, she wouldn't ever lose anyone again. Her kingdom would prosper, no more suffering. These people weren't fit to rule, it was what was best for Loradel as well as Zuland.
The door to their seating area opened as Taloz, the burly Demon-Hunt General walked in. Behind him was a tail of more Loradel guards.
What is he doing here? I was told he was dismissed and ordered to return home.
Taloz gave a bow as all eyes fell on him. "Thank you for having me, lord."
Ered gave him a nod. "Taloz, I was surprised to hear you wanted to be witness to this. But I assure you that this is for the better. Together, all of our nations will strive to fight the undead threat and the ones who puppeteer them." He turned to Rebecca. "You as well, I cannot fathom the difficulty of simply being here. True loyalty."
The Shield simply nodded with her head bowed.
The increase of men guarding the king would be a complication. It doesn't matter, nothing changes. She would kill as many as get in her way to see her goal achieved. Her confidence leapt as Lanace gave her a nod of approval, assuring nothing had changed.
Ered stood and walked to the edge of the viewing area. "We all gather today here to witness the death of a man guilty of war crimes. Xeto Alcazar, Commander of Direwolf, a Demon-Hunt unit from my own kingdom. He was found guilty of insubordination, where in that time he acted freely and murdered good men of Zuland.
A choir of boos and insults came from the crowd.
"Make him swing!" yelled a member.
"Traitor!" yelled another.
They simmered down as Ered put up a hand. "Xeto has served his kingdom well by ridding Loradel of unholy demons. But alas, I cannot allow the murders to go unanswered. To show that I am a just ruler, I sentence Xeto Alcazar to death." He gave a bow. "Thank you for your service, Commander."
A crowd cheered aloud with fist pumps and waves.
Ered sat and looked directly towards Sara. "It is done," he said with a frown.
Sara returned a nod as she combated the urge to smile. "Yes, it is."
