Kingdom of Hallos, City of Beswind, Present day.
Unmeasurable vigor raced through Sara's veins. Everything was turning out better than she had hoped. All she had to do was continue and fashion the ending she desired. This was the way of the Eshlons.
Ered met her eye-to-eye. "Now then, Lady Sara, what is it you desire to avoid further conflict? To prove that rumors of weakness are just that, rumors."
What a simple-minded man. A sad king desperate to wash away your failures now that they bask in the sunlight. This is rich. Sara smiled silently, Ered's frantic pleas justified a snicker. "You still ask? I believe the solution is apparent." She pointed to the young bastard that was now at a loss for words. "I demand that Xeto Alcazar be executed."
Ered nodded immediately. "Your demand will be granted."
Good dog. Her eyes landed on the knight once more.
His eyes darted around the room, as if looking for an impromptu solution, there was none of course.
Sara had to pull the reigns of her exhilaration.
The King's Shield, Rebecca, placed a hand on the Ered's shoulder. "My lord!? You said that Xeto was pardoned for what had happened. That—"
Ered pulled his shoulder from her grasp. "I never said such a thing."
The girl's innocence was now gone as she now scowled at the frigid man.
How could he allow such insolence from his people?
Rebecca stepped away from him. "Was this your ploy? Did you aim to use my commander as a bargaining coin from the start?" Her voice was soft. "Sir. I saved your life. And I ask for the life owed to be returned to Commander Xeto."
Ered looked at him with doubtful eyes before turning to Sara. "Do you believe that they are free of the crimes?"
Sara mused to herself. Seeing Xeto beg was tasteful. But if what he said was truth, then perhaps the elvens should be spared. She came to her answer as all eyes were on her. "I agree with the Commander Xeto. If he pays then no other needs to find solitude."
"Then we have come to an agreement," said Ered coldly. He turned to face he knight. "Xeto Alcazar. I hereby confiscate your title and rank of Commander. You are to serve your sentence without a trial. The sentence, death by hanging, it will be carried out at sunset at the soonest."
"King Ered, please head our advice!" urged Rebecca. She turned to her commander, her eyes fighting the threat of tears. "Commander! Say something…Xeto...say something please. Tell them."
Xeto hung his head low, he bit his quivering lip. No words, he simply shook his head.
"Commander?" she echoed.
His shoulders slumped. He mumbled something under his breath.
Sara felt a wave of indifference come over her. Perhaps he was already praying. Unfortunately for him, it would heed no results. His life hung by a thread. A thread Sara held firmly. It's all coming to an end…
