Lenard Geldstein, Month 11, Day 10, Year A.F 652. The city of Rosalia, Kingdom of Rosalia.
The sounds of preparations were the first thing I heard in the morning, the sounds of walking and running blaring from the halls was more than a great indicator of what this day could possibly be.
"Ugh, I'm getting married," I mutter such words to myself,
Sure, I was prepared for what's about to happen. Prepared for every contingency, father even has guards stationed around the palace, as if ready for a siege.
It doesn't matter, the rate we're going, the nobility will have no choice but to agree to my rule. I stood up from my bed as loud knocking comes from the door.
"Your Highness?" A bunch of servants walk in, carrying with them the few amenities required for my appearance during the procession.
Something that needs to be done, to keep the peasants happy away from unrest, the recent wheat prices have caused.
Though with the recent wealth flowing through my coffers, funding a festival to celebrate my marriage was more than worth it.
I raise my arm as the maids prepare me for the procession. Their quick movements, allowed them to finish in a small amount of time, one which I appreciate.
Outside the door, I take a step as the demon servants make way, a servant follows behind me as he spoke, "My Prince, your father has invited you for breakfast."
"I see, then lead on." The servant bows before proceeding to lead me towards where father has asked for me.
The walk was towards the dining hall was uneventful, a servant opens the door. Father sat in the middle of the table, along with Eribeth.
She notices my entry and waves with a smile, greeting me with a soft voice,
"Lenard come sit with me."
I sat at her side, the near month of a time we spent together has made our relationship much better than expected.
Despite the underlying politics, she was more than a delight to have. Certainly inside this dreary and lonely palace.
Then again, this place never was enjoyable when she died. The thought was interrupted as she pinches my cheek,
"Hey, were you even listening?"
I rub my cheek as I smile at her, it really is disconcerting how she can change from sexy to cute,
"No, not really."
She sighs as she repeats what she said, "I said that the guest will be coming after the procession. The wedding will commence with them as witnesses."
That doesn't sound promising, "The guest involves everyone? Correct?"
She notices my distraught expression, "Why? Is there a problem?"
Before I could reply, father interrupts us, "I believe he was merely nervous at your upcoming wedding."
He smugly drinks his tea as he continued, "A man can have a few worries for his wedding."
A smile graces feature, "Though, one shouldn't burden their wife with such needless worries."
Eribeth pouts cutely as she proceeds to eat, "Well, he should let his wife share his burden."
Father chuckles, "I'll teach him as such."
The meal ends and Eribeth pulls on me, "Cmon, let's see the preparations together."
A cough stops her as Father spoke, "I apologize Princess Eribeth, but I would need my son for a minute."
I look to him in suspicion as Eribeth meekly nods before giving me a kiss in the cheek,
She spoke to me, "Then I'll be waiting for you."
"Yes, I'll be going directly to you." I grab her hand, giving it a kiss as I let her go.
She giggles as she leaves, me and father watching her go.
With the close of the door, I sat back down, my expression serious as I glance at father,
"What is it? Father?"
He glares at me as he spoke, "Never talk to your wife about the ails of this country."
I look to him in confusion, "And why exactly?"
He sighs in disappointment and my expression turns frustrated, he ignores this as he continues,
"We cannot allow any information to leak to their side and if you're frustration is known, they can only interpret it as your inability to rule."
"B-but she's" I stammer at his words, Eribeth's attitude coming into perspective.
He interrupts me, "She is a Princess, one which was married to cement an alliance and
influence you for the betterment of her family."
I look down as his words settle, her cute words and sultry action could all be just part of a ploy? I ruffle my hair in frustration, as his words settle, should I keep her at a distance then.
Father sighs at my action, "I am not saying that you ignore her or keep your distance from her.
She is still your wife, and even with the politics involved a family can form if you run away."
He looks me eye to eye All I want you to do is to not let her influence you into committing something you could regret. something that could doom your rule."
"Is that all?" I ask him as I stood up.
He watches me before nodding, "That is all, just keep in mind what I said."
I walk to the door as I spoke, "Then I'll be taking my leave, Father."
The door opens and I walk through the hallway, my mind consumed by his words.
Is there no one I can ever truly trust? I shake my head, such thoughts would only drag me down to places, I don't wanna be in.
I take a turn and I bump into someone, I hear the voice groan as I stood up.
"Kidly watch where you are going."
A condescending voice replied back,
"Oh sorry, Your Highness. Should I have stood on the other side instead?"
I look to the voice to see Athan's look of disdain, I smirk at him,
"No, but you should have at least minded your manners."
He looks to me as he passes by, his words filling me with tension,
"Cant, too busy preparing for your wedding."
