A violent cough comes as Vincent wakes up, he sits up as he groans. He tries to move before an ache throughout his body stops him.
The door to his bedroom slowly opens as a head peeks out. "Uncle? Are you alright?" Viller spoke as he enters carefully. He then smiles as his uncle look back at him with a smile.
"I'm alright," Vincent replies as he inquisitively looks to Viller, before asking, "What brought you here so early in the morning?"
Viller straightens his clothes as he replied, "I merely brought you some files." Vincent raises an eyebrow as he gestures for him to give it to him.
Viller then passed it to him as he spoke, "I've compiled the possible suspects," Viller sheepishly rubs the back of his head, "I've given you some of what I believe to be the most probable ones."
Vincent nods in affirmation as he replied, "Thank you," He smiles at him, "I'm quite glad, that you took initiative in this." He perused his folder before looking up
Vincent then inspects his clothes, "And you seem to be well dressed." Viller smiles brightly, "You think so?"
Vincent nods as he sees the craftmanship of both the cloth and the uniformity of its sewing. "It looks like it was done by a great seamstress."
Viller then nods, "I'm quite glad you think so." He coughs to his hand, "I've actually taken the initiative to buy you a set as well."
He shows him his sleeve, "They've been trending through the capital, though they are quite expensive. I thought that buying them would show that the gold stolen was insignificant."
Vincent nods delighted once more from his initiative. After all, even in his current condition, he shouldn't allow the robbery to hit his family's prestige.
He gestures Viller to come closer as he stood back up, Viller holds him, helping him up. Vincent sighs as his body aches, most days has been spent in pain and anger as his plans crumbled before him.
Vincent nods his thanks as he shoos his nephew away, "It's best if you go out now, and let the servants in after you." He takes his cane as he walked to the closet, "I'll follow you after."
Viller nods as he exits, shouting to the new servants, "Get in there, my uncle has asked for you." The servant lowers their heads as they quickly enter.
A quarter of an hour pass as Vincent exits with the new clothes. He spoke to Viller walking beside him as he waves the cluster of documents in his hand "I noticed that you seem to have excluded humans."
Viller shrugs as he disdainfully replies, "There were traces of magic done at the scene and humans have always been unable to use with magic."
Vincent shakes his head as he scolded him "Never rule out a possibility. Always remains cautious" He mutters to himself, "So you won't end up the same way, I did."
Viller looks to him as he spoke, "What do you mean uncle?" Vincent sighs as he then asked him a question he never thought he would, "I never did tell you how your parents died. Right?"
Viller looks at him in confusion, "You said it was human bandits that did it." Vincent then looks down, "I never said that, it was the misunderstanding you got from rumours and murmurs."
Vincent shamefully looks down, "That I was too weak to deny." He coughs violently once more, something that immediately worried Viller.
"Uncle! Don't force yourself." Viller stiffly smiles as he hurriedly spoke to console his uncle "It's fine, it's fine. If you cant tell me." He says to avoid adding more pain to his uncle, more than what he is already suffering through.
Vincent stops his cough as he waves his concern away, "I'm fine," He looks to Viller with determination, before speaking grimly, "I need to get this of my chest."
Viller worries for him as he helps him to his office, "Then let's talk about it, to where you can rest." Vincent nods weakly, as they walk towards his office.
Vincent sits in his office as Viller comfortably seats in his. Vincent then sighs before speaking, "Now, Before I begin, I want to tell you how your parents were like."
Viller nods as he listens closely, knowing little to nothing about his parents than the bit and pieces that he heard from everyone. But all he remembers were their excited smile and happy gazes.
Vincent then steels himself, "They were both fascinated by human magic." A soft smile appears on his face, "The runes and the countless combinations it could do, giving it unlimited possibilities."
Viller numbly nods, the new information a bit shocking. He then looks to his uncle, "But how is this related to their deaths?" He hurriedly inquired, a bit troubled from the new information.
Vincent's tears fall, as he reminisces, "I remember it like it was yesterday, a new day starts as snow fell from the sky."
He looks to Viller, a smile playing at his lips "Your father looks just like you as he slammed open the door shouting from his new discovery."
Vincent shakes his head in amusement, "I believe he was just as excited when you and your siblings were born." Viller smiles at his uncle.
His face turns depressed, "He excitedly tried to announce his findings," He lowers his head as he muttered, "That is when it happened."
Vincent holds his face as he cried, "All three of you went on a trip and as a few days goes by with no news, I received news of their death." Tears fell freely as he continued, "They left me alone with you."
Viller cried the reaction his uncle showed shocking him to his core, for he never once saw his uncle breakdown. "T-then how did they die?"
Vincent only looks down, as the tears fell to his desk. "The official story was banditry, the story His highness stuck with by accusing a human village."
Vincent clenches his fist, "But with my own investigators, I scoured every possible avenue and found the clues to their murder."
Vince wipes his tears as he continues, "They were killed with demonic magic, the traces of which was powerful, too powerful for any families in Rosalia." Viller listens intently
Vincent then smashes his hand at the table as he grits out "A month after that, His highness gained a bishop advisor."
Viller wipes the tears as he questioningly looks to his uncle, Vincent responds, "The Church of Deia, situated in the Virtus Continent, has held powerful mages as its priest and acolytes."
The king selling off his nobility for a guard? Viller realizing the betrayal slams his hand to the desk, the fire flaring from his anger "BUT WHY!? WHY THEM!?"
Vincent deeply exhales, calming himself down as he tries to forget ."They never want to see the rise of humanity, so they have used every opportunity to stop it."
Viller only looks down, anger still burning in him, he grits out. "Why haven't you done anything?"
Vincent only looks down in shame as he spoke in disappointment, "There was no way we could fight back, even at the height of our wealth, we are ants to the Church of Deia." Viller replied with a glare, "Why tell me now?"
Vincent continued as he looks to Viller in sadness, "I didn't want you to seek revenge nor stop living in doing so, but with what happened here." Vincent looks to him, "I at least wanted you to know who we can be up against." Viller nods grimly, "Then what do we do?" Ville spoke.
"I don't know."
