Chapter 7 - six

Previously..

"Well, shall we continue, Ms De Guzman?" I softly smiled, bobbing my head questioningly, snapping her out of her thoughts as she quickly darted her eyes everywhere, pulling her baby hair out of her face..

"Yes." She croaked out. "D-Definitely should continue, Mr Kei." She quickly nodded before pulling the english textbook close to her, reading the first paragraph.

My gaze moved down the english textbook again as i hummed melancholy.

"Here, how about you tell me which words you find hard to understand and i'll explain it for you." She inquired as i gently nodded, i scooted closer beside her to get a good view of the book as i started reading the first pages.

These topics are definitely different from the topics we learned from japan.

Good thing, Estelle's here to help me with the subject or else, i'll surely fail the exam. Speaking of exam i should also worry about it too.

I sighed, this will surely be a long day..

. . .

"--and that's the skateboard boy's table and they're the cool ones who would hand you a penny if you ever need one." Dylan whispered-yelled as i perked up, looking over the table he just stated seeing tall skinny boys who wore their uniforms so informally.

Their blouses tucked out, others don't have a belt equipped. Most of them are wearing caps on their heads backwards.

But, since Dylan said that they were not delinquents, he also might be right. Even though how unfriendly they look. They had the softest smiles in display.

I shivered as soon as i felt my skin crawl on its own again, the previous subject was Science, so we had to enter a freezing laboratory for an experiment we had to work with for next week.

And since, we were all freezing. Everyone suggested that we'll all buy hot drinks for lunch time. Estelle, Aurora, Me and Dylan are currently sitting on a cafeteria table sipping on our hot chocolate drinks.

Except for Estelle, who purchased caffeine for herself. Iced Coffee?

At first, i was beguiled to hear her ordering an iced coffee for such a cold weather. Good thing, Aurora told me it was pretty normal for her to buy something unusual and something that's not so congruous with the weather.

I silently scrutinized her every move as i blew out the steam that's rising out the drink, slightly cooling the top liquified layer of my chocolate drink.

My eyes shrank at her as my eyelashes came into my view, my vision blurred as i then screwed my eyes shut, sipping the small bundles of bubbles that formed on top of my drink.

A bubble that would appear if you would stir a coffee for too long.

"I think we should hurry and finish our food so that we can study for English again with Viktor! He got lots to learn." My reddened ears perked by Aurora's ringing voice as i snapped my eyes open by the shuffling of bags nearby.

"I'll carry your bag for you." Estelle inquired, but before i could protest. She already wrapped the strap on my bag to her shoulder as she wrapped hers' on her other shoulder.

I blinked a few times as i finally got off my seat, quickly following behind them as i held the hot paper cup of my drink with both of my hands.

"Where are we going?" I awkwardly asked as we meandered down the empty corridor. I looked around looking for other students.

But to my dismay, i found none. They all must be in the Cafeteria. Moreover, we left the lunch place too early for a study session.. just for me..

I was hesitant about this too.. but they seemed too sure about this.

"To the library!" Dylan and Aurora singsong in sync as they cackled together afterwards, it must be an inside joke.. or perhaps, a kids tv show? "

"Dora The Explorer?" I softly chuckled as they both nodded, again in sync.

"I used to love that show, so i showed it to everyone.. but now they just kept on making fun of it." Estelle chuckled, shaking her head in a horrendous manner. She must've found it ridiculous for people to imitate a young adventurous girl that's just entertaining little kids.

Too bad, i grew up in Japan, Dora The Explorer wasn't really famous at those times, well to be frank, it wasn't that known to begin with. Also, i barely watch cartoon shows.

Since i was five, my parents would bring me everywhere and introduce many things to me rather than watching television with the other kids who would always be pampered with cartoon tv shows.

I used to love them and i couldn't even pick my most favorite out of all of them. I grew up gifted and talented. My parents hated the social media, even the television.

They used to love the news channel, but my family is very..- well.. we can say they can't really focus on one thing everyday. Moreover, they keep on complaining about the media reporters who keeps repeating the same thing every single day.

I couldn't really deny, they're my parents. They raised me to be like them and so i did. Now, they're letting me off my own in this little winter island exploring more things by myself.

So, that's also one of the reasons why they chose to reside here and why they chose to transfer me here.

I can't blame them. My previous school was filled with toxicity and social media. Everyone would always have their eyes fixated on their phone the whole day. The school was the epitome of what exactly my parents despise.

I had a phone too, but it was nothing compared to the others my age. I only use it for calling, contacting and listening to music.

Also even if the teacher was present, my classmates would always be posting stuff and chatting people on their phones while in class, well, the teachers does the same as well.

So, most of them didn't really learn anything. Speaks a lot why i didn't learn english in everyone's way, the english subject in my previous school wasn't really contributing anything relevant or.. necessary..

They were silly. My english teacher was silly. Everyone was silly.

I find it silly, but i wasn't amused.

I would also sometimes catch myself looking out the window instead of paying attention in class, but i would always get good grades. Well, as far as i know teachers don't really care about our activity level in class, they would grade us randomly.

I used to be grade conscious when i was young, but as the day goes by and as i started adapting things in my previous school. I didn't really care anymore.

That's when my parents started taking action.

And here i am.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Someone spoke as i flinched looking up to see that we're finally in front of the school library, i looked over my side to see Dylan giggling by my reaction.

"Our school library isn't really that large, so you have to bear with it, okay?" Aurora squinted her eyes at me as she points her index finger at me, i quickly nodded in understatement.

I'm not really picky when it comes to places though.. as we entered, i gawked in awe, it wasn't so small as i expected! Well, it was not that large either, but its spacious aspect made it look really large and.. amazing!

The vibe from the inside felt like if i was on a historical library in the time period of The Beauty and The Beast.

It was a very classical library designed as if it was on the mid-1700s in France. Overall, it was stupendous, i almost felt like i wasn't on a small island!

"This is.. breathtaking.." I murmured as we headed over the tall shelves that are seemingly adjacent to the wall, my gaze grazed and fixed over every detail inside.

The large golden chandelier hanging on the middle of the ceiling, the dim-lighting as if the room is being lit by a bunch of candles, tall and humongous shelves that are filled with an insanely amount of books, disks and song albums piled up like a small tower at the far end of the library.

Different sizes of globes in one shelf, a very big and wide world map amazingly painted on the wall. It was so beautifully detailed in every corner.

"I know! It's so amazing!"

I jolted on my stance as i turned to my left to see Estelle, my blondish hair whipping to the side as i stared at her, completely intrigued.

It almost felt like she could hear my mind, i mean, thinking by how silent and confused i look and act all the time, i'm surprised she could still distinguish the things i wordlessly express.

"That's what the people in space sees every single second!" Estelle beamed as Dylan then stepped in line with us.

"The earth isn't flat, so they basically see a sphere every single second." Dylan chortled teasingly as Estelle rolled her eyes on him.

"Millisecond." Aurora notes, "Anyways, aren't we supposed to be studying right now?!" She crossed her arms as we furiously nodded, not wanting to anger Aurora more.

We walked towards a long dark wooden table which has nine chairs, it was very nice, two group of friends could sit in one table.

I sat across Dylan as Aurora sat across Estelle who's seated at my left.

She smiled at me grabbing my English textbook in my grasp before quickly flipping the first pages off.

"We have to study fast and not get distracted!" Aurora commands as we furiously nodded once again, everyone started flipping the pages of their books in sync.

. . .

I softly huffed as i started stirring awake, a sudden bright ray tickled my closed dark eyelids. My eyes started fluttering open on their own by the discomfort the ray did to it.

I grunted as an opened window came onto my view, i slowly and carefully raised my head to look around. I was still on the Library.

"Oh.." I elicit a small yelp, realizing that i have fallen asleep on our study session halfway. I held my forehead, sighing.

I'm supposed to be studying with them! What am i doing now?

"Don't worry, kei. You're not the only one who fell asleep." A soft honey-like voice welcomed my still adjusting hearing, i looked to my left to see Estelle flipping over the pages of her textbook.

Comprehending what she said, i quickly looked over the others, Dylan who had his mouth wide open, softly snoring as his cheeks are pressed up against his textbook. Aurora who had her head lie down her small purse as she sleeps soundly.

I gasped as i immediately reached out for my pocket watch, it was already 2 in the afternoon!

"C-Class is--!"

"It's the club vacant free time. You don't need to worry, once again." Estelle giggled once again, looking over at me before closing her textbook shut. "Say.." She added as i looked over at her.

Her eyes sparkled even if i haven't said anything yet.

"Wanna stargaze with me?"
