Chapter 22 - Matchmaking and Looting

AN: It's time. This is the final chapter in the volume, I spent the entire damned Hiatus writing this chapter. Enjoy!

It's been 20 minutes since the GCP started shouting and since then a lot happened. The first thing is about the auction... nothing happened.

...

"THAT DAMNED 'DEMON' TELEPORTED MY BOOTH BACK TO OUR PLANET!"

I shouted, full of anger and indignation.

"Mrs. Fox, is that a problem?"

"There were really good items on for the top 5 Grails so, yes! Yes, it's a huge problem! UGH. Damnit. When will there be another chance to see stuff that even the 'Demon' doesn't have!"

I roared in annoyance, continuing on my rant for hours until I calmed down.

I took a deep breath and sighed.

"Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk. Might as well loot his mansion, doubt he'd actually leave stuff here though."

The GCP stared at me speechlessly.

"Aren't you two, allies?"

I looked over at them before innocently turning my head and saying.

"Does that matter?"

They went silent, once again. As I went around the mansion, 'borrowing' the stray money I found, not missing a single one, I talked the time away with Janice.

{So, I've been wondering a few things.}

[Yes?]

{Why'd you become so tense when you saw the Draconic Pantheon's booth?}

[...]

{Don't try to weasel out of this either understand?}

[Fine. Pull up your status.]

{It's out, now what?}

[Now then, tell me. What is an 'Embodiment'?]

{Hmm? I'd assume it's something similar to an elemental, no?}

[No.]

{Right, I k- wait. No?}

[No. An embodiment is different. What's a dragon?]

{Long description short, a giant lizard.}

[Once again, no. That's a lesser dragon. Now then, mind-blowing information here: An embodiment, is a Pure-Blood Dragon made of the element it holds. And a True/Pure-Blood Dragon isn't a lizard really. The second of their four forms actually closely resemble Angels from this world's religion and mythology. There, of course, are differences though. They ar- Rose? You alive?]

I think it was for a few hours that I was in a short-circuited state, attempting and failing to process the information. Eventually, I went to the living room, where twelve of the GCP, my doll included, were looking through a window.

I decided to inquire as to what they're doing. Purely for curiosity's sake, not to distract myself at all.

"What in the Flow's name are you doing?"

Having appeared out of nowhere, or the fact that they were too focused to notice, they jumped away after being thoroughly startled by me. I simply smiled and waited.

My little doll answered me.

"We're watching two of our team hook up, we've been trying to matchmake the two lovebirds for ages and now we have the chance, don't ruin it or I won't call you master."

I faked being struck in the heart with an arrow and then sat next to the doll immediately and watched, having blended in almost immediately.

'Let's see if the ship will set sail.'

We continued to watch as two of the GCP were on a bench, discussing something and talking animatedly. My tail was wagging as I thought up thousands of ways this could go, both good and bad. Eventually, the two looked away from each other, obviously embarrassed, then they leaned in towards each other.

I subconsciously released my aura, silencing the room.

A second later, it happened.

A kiss, matchmaking successful.

The GCP cheered as they opened the window and started teasing the couple. I simply smirked while looking.

I went back to looting.

[Have you processed it yet?]

{No. Maybe, somewhat.}

I sighed.

{Yeah, I guess I have.}

I was thoroughly shocked. Pondering for a while, I had eventually come up with three questions.

{Does the Draconic Pantheon know this?}

[...No.]

I grimaced.

{Does the Dragon Race know this?}

[Yes.]

I sighed.

{Last question.}

[Go on.]

{Am I able to obtain their four forms?}

[...]

{I thought not. After all, I'm not an actual embodiment am I? I was just turned into one.}

[...Yes. You are able to.]

I blanked.

[You. You are an Embodiment.]

In that moment, I confirmed four things.

One.

My real body was most definitely gone, destroyed.

Two.

I had taken over someone's near-dead body that lost its soul.

Three.

The system was originally tied to the soul who lived in this body.

A True Embodiment.

Four.

Janice, was close to them.

[System, give it to Rose. It's time.]

»Main Quest Issued«

»This System has changed owners time and time again«

»Become the last, survive«

»Complete the things your predecessors could not«

»First Task:«

»Reclaim the Ocean, and your powers«

»Rose Riso, you must complete the tasks to find out the System's objective«

»But before that, you will be given a hint«

»You must become the Queen«

I blanked. I was silent for hours. I was a Market God, sure. But this? A Race's secret isn't handled easily, let alone a universal one like this.

'And this body, its memories, its enemies, its allies. I don't know any of them.

And I'm supposed to become their Queen?'

This was the first time.

The first time I'd bitten off more than I can chew.

I regretted letting myself die at that cliff.

But.

I was excited for the things to come.

I had enjoyed climbing up to the position of Black Market God, Fox. Now? Now I must climb once more.

This time, to become a Queen of the strongest race.

I smirked.

"Let the games begin."
