Chapter 70 - It's Time

Once again, Katherine was standing alone, with just a set of wooden doors separating her from the garden where she would soon be married to Charles.  It wasn't until she saw people starting to take their seats, the musicians tuning their instruments and getting set up, and the white aisle runner that was placed over the grass, that she realized what she was missing.

Her dad wasn't there to walk her down the aisle.  There wasn't a day that went by that she didn't think of him, but on a day like this where he was supposed to be there by her side, supporting her, she longed for his presence. 

He would have held onto her as they walked to make sure she didn't trip over her dress, and he probably would have cracked a joke half way down the aisle to make sure that she was smiling.  Her father only ever had one weakness, and it was his daughter.  He was cruel, but never with her.  Katherine missed him more than she could ever begin to say.
