Katherine needed a distraction. Being alone in her bedroom that she was used to sharing with Jasper proved to be too much to handle. Even with trying to numb her heart, it just wasn't enough. The heartbreak was too recent and too strong.
It did not take her long to decide on a plan of action. A bit of time had passed since their jet landed, so Katherine decided that she had given her mom enough time to settle in on her own. Katherine wanted to check in on her anyways, so it was the perfect excuse for a distraction.
She opened her bedroom door and made sure to move quickly so that she didn't have to look at Jasper, who she was sure was still guarding her room. She knew she was right when she heard footsteps start to follow her down the hall.
