Chapter 54 - "It's Not That Easy"

Paulo entered the pitch and from outside he was looking confident but from inside he was feeling nervous after seeing so many peoples in the stadium, he was not used to it and in school, he only played in front of the coaching staff. When he entered everyone in the stadium was asking and discussing about him. The fans were asking

"Who the hell is this new kid where did he come from?"

"Could he perform in such a crucial match?"

"What is Ale Piola thinking? sending this kid in such a crucial match, we're done we are going to be relegated."

"I am done with this club! what the hell is even Ale Piola thinking? this kid is going to save us now? that's a joke."

There were already many questions raised among the fans in the stadium about Paulo and his abilities and Paulo was aware of that. There were no chants and claps in the stadium all of them were numb and hopeless. The manager and the players of Bologna F.C. were also thinking and questioning the decision of sending such a young inexperienced player there on the field in such a highly anticipated match where the next season of the team is on the line.

Paulo was positioning himself before the free kick, and Fabio told him to stand outside the goal area through gestures. The referee blew the whistle and Luigi took the free kick, the ball was cleared by the Bologna F.C player but that ball fell right in front of Paulo, Paulo wasted no time and was about to shoot but before he could touch the ball Bologna F.C defender kicked the ball away from him and the ball went out for a throw-in. Paulo was disappointed, he thought he had his chance but he wasted it, that Bologna F.C. defender took a little jab at him.

"Not so easy kid."

Paulo ignored him and kept his focus on the match. Macella picked up the ball for a throw-in, he was looking for a teammate but Bologna F.C. players closed all of his options. Emilio made some movement and made himself available for the throw in and the moment Marcella saw him, he threw the ball at him. Emilio received the ball perfectly and with some quick touches on the ball he turned and get passed away from his defender, he carried the ball perfectly and passed it to Paulo.

Paulo received the ball well and was about to move forward but suddenly one Bologna F.C. took the ball away from him, leaving Paulo shocked. The player passed the ball to his teammate in midfield and he passed it with one touch to Leonardo, opening the whole defence of Parma C.F. with just one single pass. Leonardo was through on goal and leaving Angelo and Francisco behind. Vincenzo stayed at his goal to save. The moment when Leonardo was near the goal and was looking to score the goal, everyone in the stadium was frozen in their seats there was no reaction, Ale Piola on the sidelines was motionless. Everyone thought that it was over and Leonardo will score the goal, Leonardo kicked the ball but Vincenzo came in front of him and pulled his leg out and made an incredible save and the ball went out for the corner while Leonardo covered his face with both hands in disappointment.

The commentators surprised by Vincenzo's save reacted.

"Woah! What a save by Vincenzo I thought it was the goal, how Vincenzo saved that shot from Leonardo? That was incredible. What's your take on it, Aldo?"

"Ah just like you, I am also in disbelief, I thought it was the goal 3-0 game over for Parma but boy! This save from Vincenzo might be a match-saver for Parma C.F. His save has kept them alive in this match."

After Vincenzo's save everyone in the stadium came back to life and celebrated like crazy. Ale Piola on the sidelines took a breath of relief. Ale Piola was fuming, he was angry at Paulo for losing the ball, he was even screaming and yelling at him from the sidelines.

"PAULO!! HAVE LOST YOUR MIND? WHAT ARE YOU DOING? ARE YOU FEELING SLEEPY WHERE IS YOUR FOCUS?"

Paulo was looking down and lost all of his confidence.

Cilo Eincho being the captain of the team took responsibility, while every player was going to the Parma C.F. goal area for the corner Cilo called Paulo to give him some advice.

"Paulo don't be disappointed okay, it happens! even I did this earlier, just remember before you receive the ball look over your shoulders to see whether there is a player behind you for a tackle or not, okay?"

Paulo nodded his head and got back his confidence after Cilo's advice. Paulo was going to his goal to defend the corner but Emilio advised him not to go inside the box to defend the corner but to stay near the outside of the box so that they could do a counter-attack. Paulo agreed and stayed near the outside of the box, Bologna F.C. took the corner. The Bologna F.C. player kicked the ball and the ball came curling into the box but Angelo clears the ball and fell for Emilio. Emilio received the ball and now was looking to launch a quick counter-attack. Fabio and Paulo were also running alongside Emilio. Emilio ran with the ball going towards Bologna F.C.'s goal he was getting near the goal and a Bologna F.C. defender came in front of him and made a tackle Emilio fell but somehow managed to make a pass to Paulo before he fell.

Now Paulo was having the ball and no one was in front of him he ran with the ball and Fabio was also running alongside him. A Bologna F.C player started to chase and he was about to get him at the same time the goalkeeper also came out of his position to not allow Paulo to score, Fabio on the other side was asking for a pass because he clear on goal, Ale Piola on sidelines also screamed and was constantly telling him to pass.

Paulo was near the goal area of Bologna F.C and saw Fabio was clear on goal, he maintained his composure and passed the ball to Fabio, Fabio made no mistake and scored the goal with one shot, finally scoring the goal for Parma C.F with an assist of Paulo. Fabio was very happy to score the goal, he ran to the corner of the pitch with Paulo by putting his arm over Paulo's shoulder while their teammates followed them behind for a celebration.
