Chapter 50 - "Halftime Lessons"

The Bologna F.C players celebrate their second goal on the sidelines along with their manager and on the other hand, Parma C.F player's heads were down, all of them were feeling dismal and Ale Piola on the sideline was raging at his players for conceding the second goal before the end of the first half. Bologna F.C. players come back on the pitch with smiling faces while Parma C.F. players were looking at them like a group of people who suffered from the catastrophe.

The Bologna F.C. players get back to their respective positions and demotivated Parma C.F. players also tried to get back to their positions, they were all wanting the referee to blow the whistle for halftime. Lorenzo placed the ball at the centre of the pitch for the kick-off for the second time in the first half, Lorenzo pass the ball back to Cilo Eincho but before Cilo Eincho could make a pass the referee blew the whistle for halftime. The first of the game was finished, and the halftime whistle from the referee was a sound of relief for Parma C.F. players. The Parma C.F. took a deep breath but at the same time, they all knew that their Ale Piola was not going to be happy about their disastrous performance in the first half.

"What the first half for Bologna F.C! they completely dominated the first half and created almost four clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities and scored two goals. What's your take on it, Aldo?"

"I mean perfect first-half performance by Bologna F.C. players, they had a start which might they never dreamt of before the start of the game, they played brilliant football, closed all passing lanes for Parma C.F. never gave them a chance to enter their box and scored two goals with a great counter-attack."

"Yes, Aldo, you explained the game to the audience in the very simplest way in my opinion."

"No, Gabrielle! I didn't explain the game most simply, the Bologna F.C. players are playing simple football like perfectionists. SIMPLE, CLEAN, PURE ITALIAN STYLE, CLASS! ABSOLUTE CLASS! FROM BOLOGNA F.C."

"Ok, Aldo another great explanation by you but we have to talk about one player and that's Leonardo, I mean what a player, he deserves to play in the Italian top tier, right Aldo?"

"Yes, Gabrielle! what a gem of a player he is. The first goal that he scored was wonderful, he finished that chance beautifully, and he maintained his composure despite two defenders of Parma C.F. trying to pull him down but he maintained his physical balance and bang he scored the goal and then he selflessly gave that assist to his teammate for the second goal, definitely an incredible player."

"You are right, Aldo, this player is incredible but right now Parma C.F. also needs a player like Leonardo in their team to save them from this situation."

"Hmm, great point Gabrielle they need a player like Leonardo but who it could be we have to wait until the second half."

"Yes, don't go anywhere we are going to come back after a short break for the second half, stay tuned."

Club President Luis Salvatore sitting alongside Marco Esposito in the VIP box of Parma C.F. stadium, Luis Salvatore was in a dismal mood after the first-half performance of his team and Marco Esposito was sitting reactionless it was looking like nothing is new for him. Marco Esposito saw the distressed Luis Salvatore and took a slight dig at him.

"So is this the beginning of your new era that you were very excited about?"

Both gave each other an intense but after a few seconds, they both look away without saying a word to each other and there was an awkward silence between both of them. Ale Piola gets himself back to the dressing from his walk it was clear that he is not going to spare his players for that first-half performance, Ale Piola opened the door of the dressing room for his players, Cilo Eincho leads his team back to the dressing room, the whole enter the dressing room and Paulo was the last person to enter. Ale Piola ordered his players to sit down in their seats and be quiet, everyone sat down on their seats and no longer they all sat down Ale Piola started fuming at his players.

"WHAT KIND OF PERFORMANCE WAS THAT HUH? WHAT WAS THAT? WHAT YOU ALL WERE DOING AT THE PITCH?"

The players stayed quiet and nobody dared to utter a word from their mouths, Ale Piola continued.

"I KNOW WHAT YOU ALL WERE DOING PLAYING LIKE A GROUP OF amateurs, AMATEURS!!!"

Ale Piola smashed the marker pen onto the floor in a rage, his players were also feeling embarrassed of themselves as well. After that rage show from Ale Piola, he somehow tried to get back to his senses, Ale Piola took a deep breath and asked Francesco and Angelo.

"Francesco! Angelo! how could you both allow him to get inside the box and take a shot so easily, why you both didn't even try to tackle him, he just got away from both of you so easily how could you allow it?"

Francesco answered.

"Coach we tried!"

Before he could complete his answer Ale interrupted in between and said.

"No, Francesco! don't lie to me. I saw there with my naked eyes you both were physically bullied by that one single player and it is embarrassing that one single player ran past both of you and both didn't even try to stop him to get into the box."

After that comment, Francesco and Angelo couldn't make eye contact with Ale Piola. Ale Piola then moved on from them and turned his attention towards Cilo Eincho.

"And Cilo, I hope you know that the first goal we conceded was because of you? Do you know that?"

Cilo Eincho didn't say a word but nodded his head and answered him yes. Ale then asked.

"Cilo! how can make such mistakes? you are the captain and if you make such a terrible mistake in the match then how will you lead the team?"

Cilo Eincho then replied.

"I am sorry, Coach, I never saw that he was coming to press me."

Ale then asked his players.

"And why can't make a pass, a good penetrative pass and try to enter their box why? it was looking like you all are scared of something."

Macella then answered.

"Coach they are sitting very compact in their half blocking all sorts of passing lanes for us. It is difficult for us to get into their box or make a pass, they just press whenever we try to enter their box."

Ale then replied.

"Ok, good at least you all know how they are playing but don't you all know how you have to play against them?"

Nobody replied to Ale's question and there was silence from the players because they never knew the answer then in the Ale replied.

"Why do all have to be brave, more competitive and most importantly mentally and physically aware on the field? if they are just sitting deep then we have to dare to take on them and beat them in one vs one situations, we have to be physically dominant whenever they try to press us or man mark us to steal the ball from us, if there half of the team is sitting in their box then you Lorenzo and Fabio you both have to make run inside the and whoever has the ball during that time, they have look there run and try to make a perfect pass or looping ball for them."

Ale Piola was explaining to his players how to play and score against their opponents while the whole team was listening to him carefully but in the corner, Paulo was paying special attention to what Ale Piola was explaining.
