There were a plethora of weird situations that he could get into in another world. And Food magic rules out a lot of them. Isn't food, shelter and clothing the golden three needs of any human?
Of course, Food magic would be useless if he spawns in a jungle full of hungry man eating beasts. But none of the others skills would be useful either. He could only curse his impulsive decision making if that were to happen.
'Is it better to choose food magic since it odds out most of the ways that I can die?'
"Oh Dammit! I can't think this much. I will think after I reach the world!"
There wasn't much point in thinking. With variables being a complete secret how much could Devin prepare? Whatever he does it won't be preparation... it would be procrastination instead.
"I pick [Food Magic]," Devin screamed.
He clasped his hands into a fist bracing himself for the unknown.
"As you wish…"
The next moment Devin felt himself flowing in a torrent of the great wave pushing him through zero gravity. His whole body was powerless against the wave as he felt his body disappearing into the blackness. Little by little his soul was sinking into Elena's world.
"AHHHH!"
With the force that his body was facing he couldn't help but scream in pain. The rift was causing immense pressure on his bones so much so that he was soon to lose consciousness.

*Bam* *Bam*
A large sound resounded in his head. His eyelids wriggled as the sun's rays fell on his eyes making them burn. He tried to open it but only to close it again from the glare.
Little by little as his eyes got used to the light, he was able to look around.
"So, this is the world…" Devin whispered.
He was at a town of sorts if his wording for the place was accurate. But that was not where his attention fell. He turned around to the intense noises that caused him to stand on alert with eyes wide awake.
*Bam* *Bam*
The noises failed to cease. He couldn't help but raise his brows in confusion. As he turned around what greeted him was a massive wooden door. It was laden with iron covers at the corners and the equator and was attacked with two huge thick ropes that were probably used to pull the door open.
But the door couldn't be opened no matter how much one tries as there was a massive beam going across the door fitting itself across the L shaped iron extensions locking the door for good.
*Bam* *Bam*
But even then, there was someone outside trying to get inside yet failing to do. The locks on the door weren't enough to shoo it away. It could only so much keep him at bay.
"What's out there?" Devin couldn't help but think. Before he knew his steps started moving on their own as if mesmerized by the sight that had laid in front of him.
Never before had he seen something so elegant. He was from modern society and couldn't help but be mesmerized by something so medieval-like this. Not only the wooden door, stone walls spanned across the whole town covering it protecting it from any form of danger from the outside while at the same time shutting the people inside it from the outside world.
*Bam* *Bam*
Devin touched the wooden door with his fingers. It had a rough feel to it with splinters protruding here and there showing how much it had endured through the ages.
It was then…
*Bark* *Bark*
A dog came barking at Devin. It gritted its teeth at Devin as if showing that it didn't like Devin's interference at all. Devin to it was but an intruder inside the town. What's more? It didn't like Devin closing in on the massive door.
"Grr..."
"Easy boy," Devin took a step back.
It was as if the dog considered Devin to be an infiltrator and was protecting its town from him.
"Easy…"
This dog wasn't this man's best friend. It was the street dog you could find everywhere. Impoverished with its stomach sticking inside his gut and its skin showing bones. Close to its face, it didn't even have skin thanks to an injury and was showing off its bare muscle fibres.
Devin stepped back. This dog was the type that would bite you and give you rabies. He wasn't going to mess with it.
With Devin moving away the dog could somehow calm down as it began licking its body.
"Phew! What was that?" Devin thought, "Well, it is much better than I had assumed."
Devin had thought that he would be thrown into some kind of life and death struggle once he was thrown into this world. He had literally thought of the worst-case scenarios. But what greeted him was a street dog. Not beasts plaguing the land or the zombies infesting the streets, it was still far normal. Or so had he thought as he had missed out on the intricate details of the situation. But the alarm was ringing in his head out of instinct.
Devin could hear the squeaking of people around him who were busy in their own day to day lives. He had at least spawned in a human settlement!
Alas! Devin couldn't deduce the gloomy atmosphere around him.
"Now to see, Let's see if my magic works."
'That voice told me that I can manifest food from thin air. So…'
